    In this video, I will show the easiest way to perform an external flow CFD simulation in just 5 simple steps!
    We will be using Altair Virtual Wind Tunnel for simulation setup coupled with Altair Acusolve for actual computation. With a maximum speed limit of Mach 0.7, Altair Acusolve is literally pushed to its limit as we simulate an aeroplane flying at Mach 0.56
    As a bonus step, I will also show how to extract stunning graphics of your simulation results using Acufieldview, which is a dedicated post-processor for CFD.

      I'm sure you will get Hypermesh in the student edition but I do not know whether they provide VWT in the student package.

    why does it no need to generate volume mesh?

    • @Aeroswap
      @Aeroswap  Před 4 lety

      Hey there!
      Unlike FEA, we are not concerned with the deformation and stress generated in the actual aircraft.
      We are using the aircraft just as a disturbance in the flow field. So, only capturing the surface geometry with a 2D mesh is sufficient. No volume mesh is required as we are not dealing with internal changes.
      The solver will automatically generate a volume mesh for the whole wind tunnel. Doing it manually wouldn't hurt, but it is not necessary!
