Band-Maid is the only rock-band where all members are front-stars, but Misa is also everybody's sweetheart.
If you want to know what I think about Misa as a bassist, the song that captured me for Band-Maid was "Onset." Right off the bat, the first thing I noticed was the drumming - it was distinctive, greatly contributing to the song and not just marking time. I yelled (literally), "My god it's Bonham!" So, I kept listening, concentrating on the drums. But gradually the bass started to creep into my attention, with all the fills and melodic elements. So, I switched to concentrating on the bass line and I eventually realized she's like John Entwistle, playing a song within the song. But then the bass solo happened and I further realized that, if she wants to play the actual melodic lead, she's perfectly capable of it. So, that for me says "Chris Squire." If you go back and listen to the early Beatles' music, Paul only played under the drums, simply anchoring the tune. But, sometime in the mid '60's, Paul heard James Jamerson, a Motown bassist who played very melodic bass lines, and Paul immediately switched to doing the same. It seems Misa was there right from the beginning.
Unfortunately, in Dallas, The House of Blues only had Lone Star and when we Texans in the audience saw that, we cringed. Poor Misa, the place did not have Shiner Bock, which is a Good Texas Beer. Misa drank that disgusting beer without making a face or a comment. We know - Misa is tough!!!!
During the US tour, MISA didn't have the whiskey, just beer. I thought maybe this was because she was backing off for health reasons, but then I saw she was back to the whiskey at Tokyo Garden Theater. I'm guessing the thing during the US tour was wanting to try the local beers of the different states they visited.
Well worth the wait. The Maid that likes to keep away from the limelight is now often forced to the front. She is a remarkable player and it is no accident that her playing style just manages to compliment every song they play. There has never been a Band who have gone out of their way to highlight the bass. I am sure other bands now do the same because of MISA and The Maids. We don't all have the timing and luck to meet the right people. Thankfully for us all MISA and Band Maid did.
The Legend of MISA!
Misa's mum sounds like a very cool lady
I love how MISA can harmonize so well then pop out in the mix like she playing an almost violent version of peek a boo with your soul.
Misa is legend
What a stellar set of series if anyone ask about a band member I sure to proved links to these videos but missing the final piece...... 😉
Can't really say "saved the best for last" here because all the maids are equally the best.
In my 70th year I can safely say that Misa is the most interesting and exciting bass player I have ever heard.
Due to a series of coincidences and incredible timing, we can now enjoy one of the best bassists in the world playing for one of the best rock bands in the world
The reason that I love Misa as a bassist is because she plays something I have never heard of.
I am a 56 year old male and I LOVE Band Maid! I love all the girls but there is something about Misa…! What a badass!
MISA the coolest bassist ever, my inspiration and spirit animal!
MISA is one of the greatest bassists of all time. I am so glad that she stayed with Band-Maid.
All I can say is that prior to discovering Band Maid, I never even thought about listening to how the bass sounds in songs.
Misa is a doll
our favourite bassist never fails to surprise.
