      Nah I'm kidding. He wasn't bad but it just seemed like he was honestly intimidated by her playing.

Very down to earth and sweet!@4:47- 6:00 is one of the most beautiful simplistic melodies I've heard in music. I'm so glad to have met Theresa, chat with her, take a picture together & give her a copy of my bands demo all in one night. TW does a really great atmospheric guitar. When the two guitars get going they really interlock, too. They're helped by the fact that Jenny Lee and Stella are so locked in, though. You can get away with a whole lot or sometimes even not play at all when you've got a really locked in rhythm section.

    guitarists need to stop using the word 'weird' every time an altered note comes along, a #4 or b5 is not weird! #9 and b13 are not weird, they are valid musical expressions of mood and language and unlearned players like these guys, who may indeed be great musicians are doing a disservice to the up n coming musical community by going, 'oh my that's weird', when it's not fuckin weird, or strange, it's just a harmonic moment of beauty!

      OMG another female guitarist with a pretty face that noodles on the guitar like an advanced beginner .

    • @elephantricity
      @elephantricity Před 10 lety

      Technically, those notes don't exist naturally along the harmonic lines of an open string. Take an open A string for example. Hit the harmonic at the 12th fret, then cut it in half and hit that harmonic etc. You won't find any sharp or flat notes. I'm not saying they aren't relevant choices, but they DO sound weird to the untrained ear.

    • @Lanearndt
      @Lanearndt Před 10 lety +3

      @alex Padilla technically you sir are incorrect. The 'scale' induced by the overtone series is the Lydian b7. The overtone of the 7th partial (or so) is the #4 and the major scale as we know it to be is unnatural according to the overtone series. Cheers!

I really like the whole discovery part in the creative process. By this time there are thousands of standard licks and patterns to guitar playing and while there's an art to using them well, there's also an art to finding different licks and using those instead. The main point I get out of this is that Theresa likes that second art a lot more than the first. And that's probably why we like listening to her playing, but also why many are not sure about calling her a good guitar player.
