Anti-diarrhea drug Imodium is being used to curb opioid cravings, FDA says - TomoNews

- WASHINGTON - The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is investigating a diarrhea medication with opiate-like effects.
Abuse of the drug Imodium has caused several overdoses, the FDA announced on its website on June 7, citing the nation’s drug abuse problem.
Many of the overdoses were accidental, according to NBC News, but users have been taking Imodium to help curb cravings for highly addictive opioid drugs. Imodium, also known as loperamide, is intended to control diarrhea.
In high doses, the drug is extremely dangerous and can cause heart problems. The FDA warned those prescribed the drug to contact their doctor if they experienced heart-related symptoms.
The FDA also recommended restricting over-the-counter sales of Imodium, similar to other easily abused medications, as they consider it a cause in heart-failure cases.

You can take Imodium or lomperimide but no matter what it's only masking the w/d. People having been taking up to hundred of these per day and not used any other substances, but now they're frightened to stop because the w/d are waiting to come through. It's like putting a plaster on after open surgery, it won't work!
I'm currently 3 days into my w/d from fentanyl. I'm sick, so bloody sick! No going back. I will never ever forget this experience, ever!

Trick is to only use it for about 5 days taking less every day. If you took enough to feel high you took too much....
just use KRATOM
I just got out of the hospital yesterday. I was on opiated for years and it helped me get off them. But after taking 50 is a day for a few months I just had a heart attack from the withdraw to get off them. I actually had three of them. Luckily I’m an Eagle Scout and taught my daughter that’s only 10 how to do cpr and call 911. I already passed out because my heart was not pumping right to my brain and I had passed out and was about to die, luckily my daughter called 911 and I was only like 2. Locks away from the hospital, I’m great full to be alive. Be very careful
Doesn't pass the blood brain barrier so you don't get high, but it does help stop opiate withdrawal symptoms
The best thing is it slows the horrible Diharreah assocated with Withdraw, But Noone should take 50 pills, only 2 or 3!
BETTERWORLD SGT0589 I'm getting by just fine taking 6 2mg pills every 12 hours. I'm not sure what kind of habit dictates taking several hundred pills at a time, but that seems insane.

It must be very dangerous to take so much, the dose You're talking about sounds very reasonable, also it can constipate You terrible. Its also Good to eat Prunes when taking Meds, eat some every Night to offset Constipation from Opiates.
BETTERWORLD SGT0589 I'm all done! I was coming off of a 14 year, 16mg a day Buprenorphine habit. I swapped to short acting Roxicet for four days, then started the Loperamide. I was taking 12mg every 6-12 hours, and never experienced any dehydration. I was drinking a ton of water though! As of two days ago, I noticed I had zero withdrawals, even after forgetting to take the Loperamide. I've been really hungry all the time, but other than that I'm fine.

yep,I took imodium for runny poo from the chemists it's not helping,and after that day I asked for changing drugs the pharmacist gave me the same thing
