    What's the largest a window cleaning company can be in annual turnover? Any examples of one man bands becoming millionaires?

    Good to see your old boat again, I changed the company name since we spoke a few months back, i downsized the huge van, and I’m now concentrating on the cleaning business.
    I appreciated your call from your home in the Philippines, months back.
    Looking for some advice on T’s & C’s for window cleaning clients, basically giving them a copy with a confirmation of me cleaning their windows, do’s and dont’s
    Again good to see you are well mate.

    Darren! Love the vids going to start up soon, just wondered how much to charge for a first clean when starting up. Seen you charge around double the maintenance clean for the firsf. Would you charge lower when building up though and up it once your comfortable?

    My employer wants me to clean the first floor windows of their new build commercial property(10 metres to top of the window frames) and keeping the cost down.
    I found our water coolers filter the water to a good standard( cleaned a window in full sun with the cooled water and no watermarks).
    Cheapest spending I can see is by buying the gardiner 22 litre backpack and a 10 metre Brodex Aligator WFP system, are these items any good and is there a cheaper way please?
    I can syphon the water cooler feed off by using food safe microbore pipe and Y splitter and tap.

      Brodex has been bankrupt and changed hands more times than Donald Trump. I would go for a Gardiners or Water Genie

    Hi Darren,
    Something I'd be interested in knowing are your thoughts on budget allocation (especially when starting out). How much (or what percentage) of your budget is sensible to spend on a van, on a system, on marketing etc. I've asked similar on the forums last week and had lots of replies but I'd be interested to know your thoughts.

    So glad you're ok, was getting worried for a bit there! My question is: as a complete newbie setting up for the first time, would you do trad or backpack WFP? Literally have no customers or previous experience so want to really start on the right foot. Cheers, Dave

    Hi Darren glad your back! What's your plans for the future? Back to the UK? And i know it's a little personal but i remember you said in a video you've suffered with depression for along time. I hope things are ok with that now and I was wondering how you deal with it? With the stress of customers and running the business. Due to watching your videos you gave me the confidence to start last year! Thanks for that mate!!
    Keep up the good work.

    Starting out - how big a van is best? i.e. start with small van (berlingo size) limits add on's so is bigger van better (vivaro sized) but then less maneuverable? Stay safe and keep your brain active.

    Luckily we are in an industry where we work solo, Corona hasn’t impacted on me at all other than taking a few weeks off just after lockdown was implicated by Government.
    Personally I feel that the intense fear factor at the beginning has decreased and people are starting to adapt to living with it, without becoming recluses..
    I have personally provided good information on all my social media platforms to ensure that even though contact is extremely minimal we would take all necessary precautions...
    Certainly starting to feel more productive now the weather is cooling down as we move into autumn months, gearing up for a busy gutter season..
    You take care Darren ..

    Hi Darren, good to hear from you 😊
    I'm getting to the point of thinking about taking on staff. Your video about staff and pay was a great help.
    Some people I know have self employed staff who are given a basic setup when getting started, given a full round, but eventually buy their own van, kit, fuel, insurance and so on and keep roughly 2/3rd of what they earn.
    Do you provide a van, all the kit, pay for the fuel, ie a fuel card or something, and insurances? Do you use company insurance policies to cover all staff for driving and indemnities? It seems the better way to go for me 🤔
    Any advice you can give with this would be great, cheers, Rob.

      This is about the only thing unfortunately I cant cover for you. Franchising a business well is very time consuming, expensive and probably the most closely guarded set of comapny secrets of any company that has gone the franchisee route . I will simply have to apologise in this instance but thats not one I can cover for you.

      How long is a piece of string? -- Now I will cop flack for this but you can do it in as little as six months (if you are ready to graft for it) it it can take six years. It is all on you mate.

    Is 18 years old a good age to start out window cleaning? And what is a reasonable budget for starting out

    • @Trac_Tech1
      @Trac_Tech1 Před 3 lety

      I’ll answer this one, when starting out a window cleaning business there is no budget. Never ever say oh I better ask the misses first before I spend money lol if you do that then better to quit now cause you will be at her all the time lol

    • @Darren-Green
      @Darren-Green  Před 3 lety +1

      That's hit on the head by Type 1: Budget is whatever it costs you to get started - as simple as that to be honest - I did it by borrowing tools and walking the streets with no funds - others will drop £10K £20k or more. It's almost too personal of a choice to ask someone else to make for you.

    • @Darren-Green
      @Darren-Green  Před 3 lety

      Sorry it took so long to answer Mark - honestly sometimes I just take a couple of days off - clean all my gear and van top to bottom, purge the customer lists to get rid of any major time wasters and the customers that end up giving me a 'gut full' as you put it - then get right back on with a revived sense of calm.

    So many comments about cost and paying workers, everything’s money, charge what you want and pay your workers what you want, what I change for jobs you would prob never get and vice versa, same with paying worker, what I’d pay them you would never pay and vice Versa, start with a minimum hour and day rate, easy 👍
