I’ve always felt this way about window cleaning. I came into the game from door to door sales for energy companies - our job was to literally make people change company for their service. So the idea that a man in a mondeo had some divine right to a street or town just made me laugh. Some friends and family who did the job already told me I couldn’t go here there or anywhere - I HAD to buy work , and conveniently they all had garbage rounds they sold for fortunes. I’ve built rounds now from leaflets that allow me to earn what they earn in 2 HARD days in a single standard working day .... now and then I let on what I do and see the look in their eyes and i do get a kick out of it . I’m no hard case but I’ve never allowed anyone to bully me so I’ve had a few confrontations over the years - some fairly recently still, (guy with ladders surprise surprise) I just tell them how it is and if they keep going on I just say I’ve told you how it is and now you are boring me so do something or p*ss off , they always leave still ranting and moaning. If they wanted to do you harm they’d do it , not keep telling you about what they’re gonna do. Thankfully the knuckle dragging brigade are being pushed out and left behind slowly .. get knocking boys ...
Good luck to anyone trying to start up now.. As soon as the government stop propping the economy up after October or later and people start losing their jobs for real Window Cleaners et al will be the first to get the red card..

Hi Darren turf thugs ifind are usually very frightened little men best one I had was a guy who told me I should respect the fact that he’d worked this particular road for 20+years and how dare iWork his patch .ilistened politely and then said as I’ve worked this road for 30+years how do we stand now? They can be very entertaining 😊

Check out any of the forum posts on leaflets and you will see ladsw dropping thousands of leaflets for 1 - 2 customers . and despite what some say it does not matter whether or not it is a 'rich' area a poor area or a mix - These days lads are building entire rounds throug lead generation and a decent web website without having to waste time filling the towns recycling bins. Green Pro Clean Ltd do you believe Lee Pryor built most of his work thorough leaflets? I find it hard to believe. Good luck to him he seems to be doing well but I also think leaflets are a load of rubbish.
I thought that when I started but 30 years on I’ve realised there’s 5 window cleaners servicing each Rd at least. Btw wtf is going on there that chicken is loud 😂
Well said 👌 same in every industry so why should it be different for window cleaning if you love what you do, you do a good job why should you stop? I have two kids to feed and clothe, good customer service, having the ability to do a good job and self discipline is what a lot of roll up, Astra driving window cleaners are lacking these days
I have other window cleaners canvassing & putting flyers through my customers doors every year I've never lost one yet! If you do a good job you won't lose them, I did see my old boss kick a ladder from under someone in the 80s lol

I’ve been a window cleaner for 16 years now and if I purchased a round and saw Someone knocking on my customers houses while I was there I would take that as mugging me off and have no choice but to collar him and send him on his way. I have no problem with ppl canvassing or posting flyers through as I do this myself but if I was there and they saw me and carried on thats taking the piss.
That's just business mate - doesn't matter if you've been a window cleaner for 16 minutes or 160 years - we don't have contracts with residential customers or licensed 'patches' in the UK so at the end of the day does not matter if you bought the round or canvassed it - it is a free for all out there.
@NNN Cry us a river mate 😂 if you're the better window cleaner, providing a better service to your customers and at a price they are happy with then what are you insecure about? If somebody is coming by and taking your customers right from under your nose, you obviously are a mug and deserve to be treated as such. But if your customers like you they'll send the chancers on their way, so let them waste their time

When I’m n canvassing I’ll never take a customer away from a cleaner, unless the customer wants to leave..i never push it.
