During the "trials of the Gods of Fate", it hurts to see that Kratos was still worried abt Atreus seeing him as a monster. Atreus being scared of him because he killed his own family. It was the main theme in the previous God of War, and it's painful to see that despite how long it's been + how far their relationship has come, that is still one of Kratos' genuine fear. To lose his son because of what past him had done.
I also love how the "Fate trial Atreus" was calling to Kratos to save him, calling him "father" as a call of help. To Kratos, no matter how old and strong Atreus has become, he is still his young child who he wants to deeply protect. He still has that fatherly instinct that was always protecting and looking out for Atreus like he was in the prequel. Because Atreus was young and still learning back then. But eventhough it has been a while now, and Atreus has grown up a bit more, Kratos still sees that same small boy. Who calls to Kratos when he is in danger. He wants to protect him so much. "I am coming," he calls to "Fate trial Atreus" eventhough merely seconds ago he was telling Mimir that it was all a vision:')
It's kind of hurts how it changes from atreus calling for "Father" to "All-Father" at the end of the vision and calling kratos a murderer, showing that Kratos is also afraid that Odin has taken his son and turned him against him
@@ConsumeO2 right?? That final twist at the end where it turns out he wasn’t even calling for Kratos. God that was low. But also, kinda reveals how much Kratos is scared that Atreus won’t trust him anymore:’)

@@emperorofinception3571 well Ancient Greece is pretty much the only reason the modern world has olives but Kratos destroyed Ancient Greece, thus causing all olives to be extinct.
@@hightymes7704 Well that would explain it. Thank you.
@@emperorofinception3571 the norns call Mimir the "merry wanderer of the woods" and "robin of the Goodfellows", then illision Sigrun brings up titania which confims that Mimir is Puck from Shakespeare's: A midsummer night's dream, a play that is set in Athens, meaning that Mimir is technally greek unless they changed the setting of that story, so he should defintly know about olives, even if he leaves greece before kratos becomes the ghost of sparta.
It’s interesting when Kratos tells his experiences with his homeland Fates and you can kinda hear the disbelief in Freya and Mimir’s voices because they’ve never heard - nor *seen* - someone go “nah fuck that” to the fates and LITERALLY erase everything the fates have already written for them. I mean, the All Fucker couldn’t so HOW did Kratos ever manage? It sounds like a near impossible mission to them
There is a belief sometimes that altering fate only results in the same thing happening with worse results, when one occasion occurred in fiction where someone wanted to alter his fate someone else told him to just let it happen and not fight it. As the put it, they knew someone who tried to alter their fate and the outcome still happened with everyone else suffering unnecessarily due to the attempts. Then of course there are those who think that knowing what fate has in store is better than charging blindly into the unknown. Of course, there are those who think with good reason that trying to defy fate can bring it about. Fate is a tricky thing, but I personally think that ultimately our decisions determine the outcomes.

I love the idea that the Norns can tell the future not because they're all-seeing or because they read the lines of fate, but because they know people so well that they can see what kinds of decisions they make based on who they are. They're just that good at reading people.
It reminds me of a character who once said that he wanted to learn how to read minds. His teacher told him that to do this, he would need to find someone, spend time with them, see how they react to the world and to others, learn their habits, their worldviews, beliefs, and desires. Once had has done all of this he would be able to understand their thoughts as if they were his own and he would be able to read their mind. When he noted that this wasn't magic, his teacher stated that one should not look to magic to solve problems that can be solved with easier methods. It seems that the fates are much better at this to the point that others are an open book to them.
@@emperorofinception3571 It's such a cool interpretation of the fates of any mythology. They seem cryptic and confusing to us, but they're not just doing it to piss us off. They just run on a different wavelength than everybody else due to their minds processing all the different variables that make up a person and dictate their fate. And because most people rarely change, they're always right.
@@kira-dk2mx Pretty much, I also recall hearing that there was a series of movies whose name escapes me about an antagonist who does this kind of thing. He puts people in situations where they apparently chose whether they and those others involved will live or die (usually through methods that cause great pain). He does this because apparently, he was once survived a suicide attempt after his world had been shattered by a number of occurrences and felt afterword's that he could appreciate life more. He wants other people to experience that and so he sets up these situations to try and get them to gain this revelation as well. He is apparently able to plan for every situation including the ones where they succeed or fail due to his knowledge of human behavior and his observations of the individuals.
So, his mind in a sense works the same way with the exception that he has a blind spot for assuming that those who succeed and survive will gain the same revelation he had. Although to be fair his back-ups in case of them failing despite his hope for their success does indicate that he is aware that many human beings never change their behavior. He is also deliberately cryptic at times when he needs to be which is usually when he feels that telling someone everything would mean handing them the answer which would deny them the lesson he hopes to teach. At times he also does this to ensure that the person makes a choice of their own will and doesn't feel forced to do so because of his actions. His planning to my understanding is on a level where even after he has died his influence is felt through the course of the movies. In a sense each movie is a sort of puzzle and only at the end of each does the audience see how all the pieces fit together. With each movie adding more content, it appears as though the larger puzzle has pieces to it being added until the end where it all comes together. I really need to find out the name of those movies because they sound interesting from this conversational standpoint. Just some food for thought from your comment.

"Death can have me when it earns me" is such a raw line and the fact that Kratos is the one saying it is just so satisfying.
5:40 quite possibly my favorite moment in editing
Who cried a river and drowned the whole world
And while she looks so sad in photographs
i absolutely love her..
When she smiiiiiiiles
NO PLEASE, I ALREADY LIVED THROUGH THE 90S ONCE, I DON'T WANNA DO IT AGAIN
"Don't mind if I yes" makes me smile every single time.
The game's humor is just on point.
"The hells an olive?" Got me good, among plenty of other examples.
Me: can't wait to see where the story heads in this episode!
Jack: SIIIIIIDE QUEEEEEEEEESTS!!!

@@calebchungus7990 True.
That’s how basically every episode has been for a bit lol
@@exotiizx ik it makes me want to pull teeth 😭
for me its getting a bit annoying honestly, i want to see the story, not the sidequests.
That dagger at 36:02 WAS the dagger from Uncharted 2! Santa Monica threw in a little Easter egg and I love it.
1:48 that line sent shivers down my spine
1:40:24 I love whoever edited those minecraft sounds in, the editors are doing amazing job, we need to show them more apriciation
I was searching for this comment😂😂😂
and the vine boom sound on the health pick up right after it lmfao
Yeah I noticed that too with the minecraft effects too. Because I usually play modded minecraft with my brother. And that I promised my brother I would be on yesterday but while watching at this part reminded me to go play with my brother.
ikr, it was amazing edit
I’m so happy someone else noticed 😭😭
Whoever put in those extra sound effects deserves a raise
The part where Kratos tripped an enemy and the part where Minecraft item pickup noises played made me chuckle
Yeah, so funny.
Yeah, so funny
Yeah, so funny.
Yeah, so funny.
Yeah, so funny.
I love how freya revives kratos with the resurrection stone. She hates him but still doesn’t let him die. And even while she’s reviving him she’s frantic and urgent. You can see it on her face like “no don’t die, don’t die”. Just shows how much she’s grown as a person.
I'm not going to trauma dump, and I don't expect a response...but I had a massive loss in my family out of nowhere on Halloween morning. Since then I've had an awful time sleeping because of nightmares...But this playthrough has helped me so much by giving me something to focus on, smile at, and enjoy. Thank you Jack for playing and loving this game. Enjoying it with you has been such a help.
I THINK JACKS EDITOR (and of course jack I love the space he creates) DOES A FUCKING TERRIFIC JOB. I don't know why but the "you don't want to watch this" hit so perfect
THE MINECRAFT SOUNDS TOO LMAO
oml the sound effects around like 1:26:37 are amazing
and the Minecraft sounds are at 1:40:26 if anyone wants to jump to them
Finding the ankh and having them drop the Egyptian god teaser has me so goddamn excited
Thank god(of war) I’m not the only one who noticed
time to wreck some havocs once again on a distant land...
I hope so, I feel there is not enough stuff that explores Egyptian mythology.
They also drop artifacts from other ancient civilizations though, so it's up in the air
Egyptian gods are crazy, I can’t wait
16:21 "just yankin your chain bro."
Throughout this entire game I only hear Oogway echoing in the distance ”One often meets his fate on the path he takes to avoid it”
1:33:46
Very fun and subtle reference there. The voice is calling Kratos a "Cruel Striker." Since Kratos is the father of Loki, that would make him Farbauti from the myths. Farbauti meaning, you guessed it, "Cruel Striker".
Also a couple of minutes later the voices are also layering on very much not Norse mythology into Mimir's descriptions, such as "Robin of the Goodfellows" and Titania. Just casually throwing in the fact that Mimir is Puck from A Midsummer Night's Dream.
That’s really cool how did you get to learn about this stuff
@@dumbassturtle2157 Uh, the Farbauti bit I believe was from a dude who's a scholar of Icelandic literature who goes by the name "Yellow" on the OSP Discord server. The bit about Puck was just being casually familiar with Shakespeare's works.
@@iout cool
From 2018 to now, nothings changed, Jack is still uploading the FUCKING BEST GOD OF WAR SERIES
fax
he is still dumb
I like how he avoids spoiler Thumbnails aswell and tittel cuz so many creators dose that and it annoys me
well many people and I like them so if you got a problem with it just Shut up like the video and go watch another video then
Kratos fights ice troll
Mimir: there’s frost in my neck stump
😂😂😂

Robin's editing is FLAWLESS in this episode
The Minecraft sounds at 1:40:35 is a nice touch
I love that we can watch the editor’s decent into madness as we go farther into this Series

I wanna thank the editor for editing out the unnecessary stuff. As much as I would watch 12 + hours of Sean just playing I don’t need to be seeing the same sled going across the lake of nines😭
1:35:30 “Yeah, if they see me come, they know who I am” ..... out of context is how I heard that after picking up my earbud... Was thinking, well yeah, I’d sure hope so..
Mimir:"...tall..."
I felt that
As an art major I've never been more excited at a video game playthrough than screaming "Its the Venus of Willendorf!" when Kratos picked up that lil fertility goddess.
IKR!
OMG YES SAME!! i literally went into the comments right away like: where my fellow art majors at XD

Jack at 5:40 going “This is…” and Robin putting in “story of a girl” right after it. Chefs kiss 💋
This is the comment I came to find! 😂
I thought I was going nuts! I’m glad you heard it too 😂
Yes
I don’t hear it
@@DeadlyFoxAngel Yes. This was Trey, not Robin. I love how distinctive they both are.
Whoever edits your videos is a legend keep up the good work with the sneaking add ins to accompany what Jack says!!
That line delivery "what the hells an olive?"
The editors did a good job with providing some laughs throughout this game😂
frfr
@Ruska Exactly 😂
23:26 the elonius musk joke
Lol the “You Don’t Want to Watch This” hit perfectly 🤣
The very subtle song lyric at 5:40 got me good
Jack: I really should go back to get my stuff from Niflheim
Also Jack: *Completely ignores Niflheim every time he's at a realm door*
Speaking of other realms, is he ever going to visit the raven tree again?
“Yeahh, health go wooooo”💀😂 52:25
18:00 Longed to visit you say? God of War: Walk Like an Egyptian up next then?
