  • Great Irish Maul Try v South Africa but would have defended any differently?

Great stuff, helpful for my own learning as a player. Would also love to see an analysis of the Black Ferns vs Red Roses in the Womens World Cup final. Commentator was saying he was surprised NZ didn’t compete at the LO more. Why didn’t they all the time?

Thanks for your comment and watching. Ive not seen the whole game yet, but I guess they were hoping to defend the maul by not going up which clearly was a struggle so they took a gamble that last play and it paid off. Perhaps they could have started competing earlier but a certain try if they didn't win it. Great show of courage to change mentality

Good clip. Looked like SA offered Ireland the front - no defensive jump threats there - prrobably with intent to drive them over sideline as they tried, or Marx and winger to deal with peel to front. Seems a legit defence strategy, esp given SA strength at drive and risk of no space to recover if contest in air or sack is missed. Maybe Marx could have joined quicker to help keep front corner forward and buy time. Also guys who joined from the back could have hit lower for better impact, think sumo. But it was small margins and fast work both teams.

Would agree Paddy, not much in it, probably wouldn't change a huge amount. Good work by JVDF

Me as a sbok supporter..as you all know the refs stole the game from sboks again, its ok if you mad and say all kinds off stuff we sboks must stop blame refs and bla,bla,bla..sorry we not going to stop a real fact with real true evidences.all is recorded so go watch it and see the truth....ok then to this clip and where others is right, but we fans also complain....the sboks oponents already knew what sboks gona do it only 3things...,scrum,kick ball away specially from.9,and drive maul from mostly lineouts..now bec off that other teams encounter it and starts getting better and then this happened sa dont know what to do...they do it better the sa and encounter sa....we begged rassie since 2019 before wc to stop no.9 kicking game and get plan B,C,D its to predictable...when JN,"took over"i think he play under rassies instructions but took the blames it got more worce....all previous coaches since 1996,was stuborn and aroganr as much as we love rassie he is doing the same people already ask them both to go.....,but it has nothing to do with the 5onesided errors in front off all refs involved costing the game for sa...you cant say the boks played bad and ireland deseved it but the refs stole the game..its all about winning even a ugly win is a win....
