    James you had absolutely no exaggeration with this Chinese work or art lol. And brother you were way generous with your C+ rating of product .Po it's really not as much your fault as you put on the way I see it you were lied to about the product . You talked to them & expressing your concern about physical size & weight needed .They showed different photos of another product claiming it to be this outboard . So deceit on thier part on this deal bro . Man your like me you don't expect to get lied to with your business dealings as a norm.
    Your right about the Red dragon biting us on the butt with so many things here in last decade or so . I blame alot of this on being lied to & mislead by our elected officials like the NAFTA Cigar Man from Arkansas. And unless we get hold of things in a hurry it's only going to worsen as we go .we are lied to daily by officials & Media it's a damn shame . Thanks for sharing the Good, Bad & Ugly here God bless

    The problem I find is that the Philippines government increased their duty tax so high it's to costly to ship good made for America product into the Philippines. That's one trade off of living in the Philippines. Nevertheless, life wise, you're still up in the game.

    The exhaust exits out the center of the prop and the vents on the side of the foot are water intake ports. The casting is massive because that is a diesel with high torque. A smaller casting would crack. Looks like a nice unit built with quality Yamaha parts. It will be very fuel efficient and dependable. Remember to add a fuel water separator between the tank and the engine and as close to the engine as possible.

    True story James, Japan has great manufacturing precision and the increase in quality over the decades was also assisted by "Porter's Five Forces". Japan actually adopted Porter's ideas before the USA. Eventually, the USA also applied his ideas back in the early 80's. Just think about the Chrysler K-Car which was a piece of junk but kept Chrysler afloat until they could improve their manufacturing. Things in the USA may not always be cutting edge, but when we decide to improve, our economic might makes it happen quicker than anywhere in the world. We are now playing catch-up with computer chip manufacturing, and It's going to be exciting to see what happens with the recent investment in Computer Chip Fabs in the USA.
    Now about China, they have Tier 1 facilities such as Foxconn which made the iPhone, but as you point out there are a whole host of crap manufacturers that make knockoff products. Generally speaking if the price seems too good to be true....it probably is crap. Also trying to determine the manufacturer's quality is going to be hard especially with rebranded products. Your mechanical experience serves you well with reviewing products! Great video.

    Since you are probably not monitoring your video on the concrete boat any longer, I'm out of place here but wanted to make sure that something that was mentioned by someone and liked by you is clarified.
    Beach sand...is not the same as river sand or desert sand. In fact they all differ in the content of salt and other impurities embedded over thousands of years?
    When you buy sand it has different compositions, and embedded salt and other minerals into the silica. So any generic beach sand can have lots of impurities that must be aggressively washed and sifted out to be compatible with cement. It's one of the biggest problems with ferro-cement boats and construction here in the PH. Poor quality sand.

    • @TexasFilipino
      @TexasFilipino  Před 7 měsíci +1

      It is a decorative yard art not a real boat to be put in the water.

    • @michaelpettit9706
      @michaelpettit9706 Před 7 měsíci

      @TexasFilipino I know its decorative only. Just wanted to make the general point about beach sand regardless of its intended use for anyone thing of using it for other applications. I forgot to mention the obvious, it wreaks havoc on rebar/supporting wire causing failure.

    • @TexasFilipino
      @TexasFilipino  Před 7 měsíci +1

      In the years living here I have seen a lot that contradicts some claims like these. For instance it wreaks havoc on rebar. I have seen beachside structures that was built 20 30 40 and more years ago which they used beach sand to build. Some got knocked out by big typhoons some was just being removed for new buildings or updating. I was there personally to see the rebar inside and it was perfect still. No rust, no swelling and the concrete was hard as hell. Now my place was not built from beach sand just to set you clear. We hauled in clean sand from fresh water. No matter where it is from it is going to have organic material in it and we have had to reject some brought and use it for landfill only. I am aware of the different types of make ups of "sand". Next just a fun little fact - We current humans til this day do not know the ingredients and formula the Romans used that made such superior concrete than we even have today. One thing they have recently discovered through analysis is that is had ........ drum roll please........ Salt in it. Yes Salt! The strongest crete they found by the Romans had salt in it. Let's dive into what makes crete strong. Well it's ability to grow microscopic crystals ( one reason proper moisture is so important even after mixing and during curing phase.) What does salt do? - grows like crystals also. Where does seashells and coral form that are so strong that they last seemingly forever? In salt water. Science often thinks it has all the answers and yet it is always proving itself wrong year after year. Let's look at coated rebar.... Boy it was going to be the answer to everything. Universities did studies and engineers backed it. They built bridges and other structures with it everywhere. It was DEMANDED it be used. The the bridges started failing. Why we used the superior modern methods and yet in a short time they are failing while the old bridges from long ago still standing. Why ? well because soon as you cut the coating , nick the surface and put tie wires cutting into the coating moisture wicks in and then cannot evaporate, the steel corroded and spalling occurred. For me I look at what is proven in reality not labs and agendas with $$$$ always behind it and motive. I have witnessed perfect steel and tie wire in beach side concrete made from beach sand . I had chiseled at it personally to see its strength. The only time I saw spalling was when the rebar was not in deep 1 1/2 inch or more from the surface and where it was left exposed sticking out of columns. Sometimes even that was still good.

    • @michaelpettit9706
      @michaelpettit9706 Před 7 měsíci

      @TexasFilipino the latest from MIT as reported in Popular Mechanics is that Roman concretes secrete to longevity is "hot mixing" which allows the Crete to self heal.
      And as I said and you admit not all sand is created equal nor are the builders. About any decent sand can be used depending on project if treated properly. A Ferrocement boat submerged in a hostile marine environment with rebar and 7 layers of hexagonal wire (not coated you are correct) MM from the surface, subpar sand or Portland is a guarantee for failure. It's why they had such a bad rap as "hippie boats" because the poor hippies would just get free sand at the beach in the middle of the night and not wash, heat treator sift out other Impurities. My boat was professionally built in the early 70's in Wilmington NC by a yard with lots of experience with them.
      I've seen others where the rusting from the concrete being somewhat permeable and the metal exposed to the salt/moisture causing rust/expansion leaving spalling.
      I see lots of buildings and walls falling apart here in Mindanao due to poor beach sand quality as admitted by the people who actually built them and now regret taking short cuts. As for you S.S. Minnow, yeah anything will do!
      I look forward to seeing the final product.

    I am so sorry James, you left me with no choice but to laugh during your video. Only difference is, I purchased through Shopee which was refunded through ShopeePay, but I can't link my North American bank account & can't get a Philippine account until I have been here for 6 months my money is tied up in limbo and because my ShopeePay account is full I can't even return a poorly made cheap Chinese made camera.
