  • In this video I take Melinda to buy her a EBIKE as they call it even though its four wheeled and like a mini electric golf cart. She had been using her sisters and boy oh boy did she ever pay back her sister! Ok later about that but we go to the delaer and she gets the one she wants. ( not the one I wanted) I show the Ebikes and share the price and some details about the units. I show a mountain of bad batteries too. This story has a crazy ending that involves a smashed white nissan but it wasn't ours. I have come to realize Melinda must not like white nissan trucks !!!!

I feel your pain!!! When my wife first came to the US from the Philippines I knew driving was a skill she needed to acquire. I tried to teach her but I couldn’t because I can’t tell her anything without her getting made. She did however get a learners permit in Tennessee. So I had her enrolled in a drivers course when I was working in Colorado. So after months she said the instructor wanted her to get a drivers license. I told her we live in Tennessee not Colorado. Her instructor called me and said he understands but said he recommended her getting licensed in Colorado because he had connections with the DMV. So I said okay. She was excited that she got her license. Do we went to a store and after getting our stuff I ask her if she wanted to drive my truck home. She said ok. She was driving and I said you need to go faster. She was going 15 mph in a 45 mph road. I told her like 3 different times and she just got madder. Then stopped and told me to drive. I jumped out and ran around because she was in the middle of the road. She didn’t drive again until we were back in TN. I had my 95 Camry that was old but in excellent condition. We lived in a rural area but I couldn’t teach her because I talk to much so a friend’s wife volunteered. She became comfortable enough to drive to the store and back. I didn’t go with her. One day she comes to me and said she bent the door. I wasn’t surprised that’s why she got the old Camry. I went out to look expecting to see a dent and she had the rear door bent back. How did this happen. I took groceries out of the back and when backing out of our garage never closed the damn door. I took the car to a body shop and ask them to just get the door to close. She drove that car for another 3 years until one day she called and said the car caught on fire…😢I love that Camry

So , I told her well just give your sister the new one and I got a instant NO! Now to answer why is because KARMA. In Texas I let her sister drive our Toyota Prius that was actually for Melinda. BOOM caves in front drivers fender and bends the post on our carport. Next BOOM bends in the other fender on the other post now both sides match. Next dives it hard and put up wet and destroys the regen brake unit that cost about 2-3k to have fixed. Wide open take offs , slams the brakes and goes around corners so hard they are leaning inside. We never got the Prius fixed. She never one single time said even I'm sorry or I will get it fixed. I bought her a cheap car to go back n fourth to work. Cheap old Kia but ran n drove. She drove it just short time and her BF bought her a new car. Did she give the car back and say thanks bro? NO instead she told Melinda and I what horrible people we are just because we complained. Difference between BF and me is he was sleeping with her I wasn't!!!!! It was a total loss on my part. Melinda's family has broke my soul I tell ya!

One thing I have noticed about Filipina women is, I believe their first initial thought is that their man will be angry & they are afraid of that their man will vent out on them. Let's call this mishap her second accident, as I stated previously, most new drivers will have a least 2 accidents in their first year of driving. So keep your fingers crossed that she has those incidents out of her system. I am glad to hear that Mel was not seriously injured. I am surprised that you haven't seen the little 4-wheel 2-passenger electric cars that one of the TVS dealers in the Metro Manila area is selling, it's fully enclosed & has air conditioning, it appears to be about 1/2 the size of a modern Mini. I believe the motors on these things are actually 3 phase motors.

Had a taiwanese gf once who had no concept of personal space and tailgated. I warned her about tailgating over and over and she'd just say she knew what she was doing...
One afternoon she caused a 5 car pileup at lights because she got too distracted by a dog walker as she would do... and not pay attention to road just for a split few seconds. Her dashcam kind of confirmed everything, though, police stated she wouldn't be charged but was at fault. Luckily, aussies in front cars had no injuries and costs would be around 30k or so in damages.
She's lucky too we don't generally sue in accident situations and try and be reasonable. She forgot to pay her insurance several weeks prior and so wasn't covered. She wasn't transparent nor listened in various other matters too.
That relationship ended soon after. And on reflection, I'm grateful totally to God it did.
Glad your wife is ok friend. Enjoyed the discussion about the batteries etc., great channel!

That is very impressive, an excellent compromise between a scooter and a car. The price is outstanding. It offers a lot more safety than the scooter, you can carry groceries and other shopping items. The rain is not as big of a problem. Way cheaper than a car, I would consider upgrading the batteries to lithium ion. Couple questions, are there any restrictions on its use, for example can you drive this to Ilo Ilo, what is the range and max speed. Are there any insurance requirements. You are the first expat I have seen with this type of vehicle. I really like the look of that and given the youtuber Juells just had a scooter accident, I would be very interested in getting one of these.

Thanks for the upload. The main thing is you lovely lady is okay. We brought the "Kitana" model from Kenwei here in Bacolod back in October of 2021. It had 5 x 12v x 45 ah batteries which lasted just over 12 months. Of course they had no stock to replace the batteries and it was going to take a week (and cost PHP20k) to get the from Iloilo. A brought a 60v 100ah lithium battery of Ali express for PHP 35k and it was delivered in just over 1 week. The front brake cable broke last month and of course sorry no stocks. After 5 days of sorry no stocks from Bacolod, Iloilo and Manila and basically been given the run around I brought two new cables off Lazada and fitted them myself. We will be updating the ev this year but will not be buying a Kenwei

As we were watching this video, I told my Fiancée that something like this would be more practical for shopping in our area. My biggest concern would be top speed (40+ km/h?) and range. Having the rain curtains would keep us dry in storms! Better than a scooter, and no fuel like a pickup.

Yeah, I can see driving a huge overlander in streets made for mopeds and tuk tuks being a pain. If your not gonna be her daddy i'll start calling you daddy! ( wink ). BTW how much for Mel's taxi service? Mel $$$ yup! 60v is very efficient power wise. In my opinion less electronics more power saved and Less breakage to repairs. More power you draw the worst the battery bank gets banged up. Key to most electric vehicles is a Quality charging system and properly filled tires and not running them at full speed which heats up the electronics degridating them faster. These do best on hard top streets. Thin tires. James the 1st thing you do is replace the Battery bank wires and make sure they are super heavy gauge or double up on them or MAKE them double up the bus bars. Avoid resistance at all cost. Extend the banks life. 1 cheap can of spray foam to perma stop battery movement. " You do front end alignment? Change the oil too? " James! 🤣 You JOKER! I think the rain curtains might straighten out in the the sun. Tell Mel she can zip it up when not in use and turn it into a Greenhouse for her plants! You'd pay $3,500 or more for it over here. Good price.

Seat belt(s) of some sort, lights for dark rainy days and evening driving, turn signal lights front and back, a horn of some sort, and perhaps a couple of gauges (maybe already includes?) to measure power remaining...
Is it possible to upgrade the power too when you do a switch to lithium?
I like that you're able to tap into free power from wind and solar to get around...
Ok, back to work for me...late! Already after 0500!!!!
    Happy New Year BTW...
See I missed a live you did, been crazy busy since holidays are over...

@@TexasFilipino That's cool...A lot of features for a very reasonable price IMO...
Bottom line, much cheaper than a truck repair(s) with the damages from driving in those narrow streets and alleys, plus easier too for Mel...
Good that her mishap occurred with Sis' ekart...
I'm sure Sis will not be happy, as you two weren't with her and transportation aid you provided...
      What to do...Stuff happens...
Also...No license/insurance/inspection required also, just jump in and go...
      Big plus points...
Definitely will look for one for the Mrs. once there...
We are going to be a short distance from the markets...
I'm not much of a shopper (unless a home depot like place, a tech place, or a bookstore), so that market stuff is in her lane...
I also don't know how to use a clothes washing machine! 😆

I'm 82. My first accident at 18 y.o. was my fault. I didn't stop fast enough and ran into the truck ahead of me. It nearly totaled my small car.
The next 3 accidents were not my fault, causing repairable damage in 2 of those accidents, but the third and last accident happened at 82 y.o. (my car was "T-boned" in the driver's side of my car) while my car was idling at a stop sign as I waited for traffic to clear on the crossroad that I wanted to turn onto. An ambulance took me (with fractured ribs) to the hospital and my car was totaled as a complete wreck and non-repairable.
    Life goes on.

I work in the deserts or qatar and the hilux doesnt bat an eye with the extreme heat even with payload. My boss said if the hilux were to break he was renting us a new brand new full size GMC. I tried everything to abuse the hilux to get it to fail. I wanted that fully loaded gmc. After a few months i gave up. Hilux all the way !

    1, the price of shipping
2, in the UK you cannot carry passengers
3, a little bit unstable when doing a tight turn especially if you are travelling forward and changing direction quickly.
$1000 I think is a good price when mobility scooters in the UK go up to $1000
