Dr. Ramani is such a blessing to the world of psychology. Didn't know she sat with Kendall Jenner and I didn't know Kendall was having these issues. It's a new way of looking at celebrities instead of just all glitz and glam.
Definitely.
As a psychology student, this kind of conversation makes me happy. Seeing people in the big industry talk about mental health is one of the best ways to show to people that mental illness is true and not just an imagination.
Idk why I read it as psychopath student , I'm sry 😂

She mentioned numbness as a symptom and Im so glad- I have an anxiety disorder (diagnosed) and I rarely hear people mention this symptom as it can/is a daily physical disability.
Me too bcx i have experienced that 🥺
anxiety can make you numb bc you feel a lot, feel for the others, fear all over your life and the brain can't handle anymore
This used to be one of my sisters top symptoms. She’d experience numbness on some of her fingers. She’d run very cold water and it would help. This was years ago and I pray it never happens again. Best of luck to you❤
How could she not have anxiety? She’s had a lot thrown at her at an early age. Bless her... I know what she is saying and I think she is helpful to talk about it.
Suzanna: I don't think that anything she is doing is shoved down her throat. She has a very loving family esp her mom. She could stop whatever she is doing at any stage in her life if she chooses. So no one is throwing anything at her. She is living a life that she wanted and asked for! We all have different issues in life whether we are just sitting idle or fulfilling our destiny by working hard.

Agreed. I struggle with anxiety. And when doctor Ramani said people who tend to struggle with anxiety are people who are in tuned. Who are more aware and notice. I felt it. And it was my first time accepting anxiety as a normal and kind of out of my control thing. In the sense that it's not a weakness. It's not because of me. It has an explanation that is not bad.
And it is true for me. I can walk into a room and sense a mood right away. I read people's body languages and hear their words in a different way. Most call it emotional intelligence. My therapist kind of threw it out there that as intelligent people we tend to suffer a little bit more because we are more aware. It was my first time hearing someone say I'm intelligent. It changed my life. I also came across a video on this channel that spoke about truth seeing people. And you mentioned we also tend to struggle with anxiety. It is hard when you see things that others do not see. Your voice is silenced. You are gaslight. It's heartbreaking to think one has to suffer so much for something that is a blessing. But after this video. I embrace my anxiety. So proud of Kendall. Always been a huge fan. And love love love Dr Ramani.

I'm glad Vogue is raising awareness on anxiety but I wish they could go a little bit deeper. Because anxiety has a lot to do with a low self-esteem and the need to be liked by everyone. Competitive and narcissist people also feel anxious when they feel they'll show weakness or imperfection. So, anxiety can be the consequence of a much more complex disorder or problem to solve. It's hard to get over anxiety if you haven't worked on your ego. It takes effort to admit that our mindset can be based on toxic principles.

to everyone saying she doesn't have the right to have anxiety and therefore empathy because of her background; anxiety is not exclusive to the under-privileged.
Exactly, anxiety doesn’t discriminate
Actually any person of any circumstance can have anxiety and wonderfully stated by Kendall she knows she is blessed and she is grateful. She still has real feelings as a person. She is brave to discuss it and I appreciate your concern for others in destigmatizing anxiety for anyone in the world 🌎
@@AnnaRusseller While you're right in saying Kendall has much less to worry about in her life such as financial issues, resources, etc. anxiety is simply more than being worried about certain things.
Anxiety is a *mental illness* that can be caused by a number of issues such as personality type, hormones, genetics, reactions to triggers, traumas or previous events (all of which can muster a different reaction depending on person to person).
You say that I fail to understand that underprivileged people may be more vulnerable to day-to-day struggles and systemic consequences; I never acknowledged this yes, but I never dismissed or debunked this fact.
I simply said that anxiety; again a *mental illness* , which is caused by more than just worries whether trivial or serious, can in fact affect everyone no matter their background, worries, personal life, struggles, etc. I myself am lucky enough to have never had to worry about when my next meal would be, how I was going to afford to keep a house, etc. but it doesn't mean I don't suffer immensely with anxiety. I do. Because of circumstances/events personal to my own life, character, genetic makeup, etc. and therefore mental state/reaction.
Anxiety often brings on worrying. Worrying *is not* anxiety. Comparing the two is ineffective and like comparing apples to oranges.
@@aw3346 Do you know what the term “disproportionate effects” means?
It’s very helpful to understand the actual meaning of discrimination.
@@aw3346 In the case you make of undermining- that’s a conclusion a lot of people like to jump to when others think something ought to be acknowledged simultaneously. It’s called intersectionality- and there’s a lot of theory regarding minority status having direct influence on one’s socioeconomic position, etc. Same goes for having a direct influence on one’s mental health. So yah. You can google all this too, there’s a lot of studies.
I always knew she had anxiety.
That's why we don't see a lot of her personality cause she doesn't want people to judge her for who she is. Also people with anxiety are usually very private about their lives.
This just blew my mind, I feel like you just taught me what I need to do to ease my anxiety, which is being more open and not being so fearful of being judged.
Very very true. You just described me to a T. 😕
She is aware of her anxiety but as celebrity until now she hasn't been an advocate for it or join a mental support group or donate for it. She just complain about it.
Other celebrities have the same mental issues as her but they use their power to educate persons about it.
@@luccianalewis9473 Stop judging.
@@luccianalewis9473 I think it's because people criticize her and her family so much that it took so much time for her to come out of her shell a little bit. I mean think for yourself how she is constantly judged for everything. Anyone would distance themselves and speak less in front of people when they are judged so much.
Also maybe after the massive support and praise she got for being so 'cool' and 'fun' after that makeup video with kylie and hailey's never have I ever video she got encouraged enough to do this.
Anxiety is very challenging I can understand how much pressure must exist in a family like hers, in essence to succeed and be perfect. I've had severe panic attacks and my life is very fortunate.
I have a really bad case of social anxiety. It's the worst, but it's comforting to know that you are not alone. Thanks for this little talk! 💕
Everyone literally thinks she’s rude but I think that’s just her anxiety. She’s been in the spotlight since she was like 9 and whenever anyone has something to say about her or her family it’s always negative. I feel like she just has her guard up and puts on a face because she thinks everyone hates her. I love her and I’m glad she’s doing this series.
nahhh i’ll disagree. she’s definitely rude and stuck up. just go on tiktok and see the videos of her completely ripping apart her mom and being a terribly rude daughter
I agree. And also when you’ve had anxiety for a while, your nervous system is more sensitive, meaning you’re easily put in a fight or flight state. In this state, you can have a short fuse and everything seems triggering. So when she snaps at people, that can be a result of system being super sensitive. Obviously I don’t know her, but when it comes to lashing out on her family, I can see why that would be her reaction. As far as her being rude to other people, take that with a grain of salt. She’s hounded by people constantly. I’m sure I’d be less than friendly as well.
I agree but she comes off stuckup
That's literally me 😖
@@Cmonbilly her relationship with her mom is definitely unique though, like her mom was basically managing her as a public personality since she was 8. I think if we as normal people have expectations of how she should behave towards her mom without knowing what that’s like it’s not really fair. Like, she talked about having shortness of breath as a 10 year old and going to her mom, then now realizing that was probably anxiety, you have to wonder if she has resentment towards her mom for that time in her life. Also I do think Kris kind of encouraged her kids to act bratty and over the top sometimes for the cameras, but when you grow up with that it’ll actually become the normal dynamic.
What some people don’t understand is that anxiety can’t be shut off. It always just there lingering and we feel it, it’s just horrible.
They're trying to relate to people with a normal amount of anxiety. You can be really stressed because of things going on in your life and not have an anxiety disorder. But some people never relax it's always looking over them like the telltale heart.
May I suggest breathwork/meditation. Anxiety is, in my opinion, due to a sense of danger - which provokes a whirlwind of disparate cycle of incoherent thoughts - in the search of the perfect solution. As a perfect solution is a concept finite in time - it is impossible. By breathing extremely slowly and deeply, you allow yourself a mental break, which will allow you to decipher the real issue (if there's any), and tackle it, one step at a time - in the moment. As you tackle the issue, one step at a time, you witness your ability to be powerful - not powerless. That is, in my opinion, the ultimate goal that we search. And once we are powerful, it is of necessity that we continue practising breathwork to remain available for ONESELF - and not be defined by the concept of one's power - which is a trap.
thank you so much, I finally feel like I'm not alone and that someone really understands what it feels like living with anxiety

Have you read her books? She has one that’s called ”Don’t you know who I am” that one came out in 2019. Great book!

@@harleydesx u probably shouldn’t really ask people on the internet because we aren’t really doctors 😅 but if u feel out of place or feel like ur not really yourself in the situations u have mentioned it is good to get it checked out with a doctor, u should tell a trusted adult or family friend
parents if you can’t ask ur related family. I have some of the things u have mentioned but I think it’s normal for ME because I can control it but it keeps happening but I know what to do, but if you can’t control yourself and it’s becoming worse go to the doctors because if you shake in arguments or are alarmed you have the option to go. Please don’t overthink those and get stressed out remember there are many people out there with anxiety and it’s something that can be TREATED with the right doctors, also ur mom loves you so if you tell her make sure that you are confident and u know that she would understand because she did raise u and this is something important for a mother to know or she will be worried for u. So please don’t panic and tell someone trusted and go to the doctors before saying to yourself that you have anxiety ☺️☺️🤗🤗🥰🥰 I’m also here for you

hi I love 1d as well!
I have had actual panic attacks that last for a few hours w/ uncontrolled palpitations and I hate it when other people say "I have anxiety"
I have went thru A LOT in my life but by far the worst feeling in the world is anxiety. Sometimes you can have panic attacks when you aren't even worried in your mind and sometimes you will experience different symptoms that you never experienced before and like Kendall said the best feeling is knowing others have gone thru it bc it does feel like death.
Honestly knowing that someone like Kendall has this too is improving my life. It's something that I I have also struggled with this for so long and felt like a freak this whole time. People would always comment on how quiet I was or that I seemed uncomfortable and that I should just be myself. Like thanks for the advise, I am TRYING... Honestly this helps me accept myself so much more. I know nobody else that has it except my ex boyfriend and even he would sometimes say that I was "odd". And my brother is the most social butterfly that has ever lived I mean Im happy for him but also I get compared obviously.. Now I know that I'm not weird, I'm just like Kendall and probably a million other really cool people that suffer in silence. I would also never have guessed that she has it, she seems so cool.
Iam also like u & always feel like this 😭😭 have a gd day sis ♥️

You can’t control anxiety, ppl with anxiety sometimes can’t really control of how they act especially in public, and that’s why ppl think they are being rude, when in reality they just can’t control it. I’m glad Kendal opened up about it, it makes me feel a little less lonely.
Check out psilocybin mushroom. It can heal anxiety and depression. I've done it and it healed me completely. Be careful if it's not legal in your area yet.
Karina Kaplun • of course you can control anxiety....thats why this video was explaining ways to STOP THOUGHTS that sabotage your Peace.
Rather than ve a VICTIM of your thoughts, Remember to be a VICTOR with your thoughts!
Exactly 💯 and there is nothing wrong with needing a prescribed medication to help cope with severe unrelenting anxiety, especially when you've tried everything and it is literally out of your hands, there is no controlling it... it becomes an autonomic response (fight or flight).
@@deejungk828 Sounds good. But I think I'm gonna apply it...
A guy I was dating told me that it seems like nothing ever bothers me. Little did he know how much I was struggling internally everyday. It surprised me that I came across that way. Also happy to know I was not coming across negatively to anyone.
This is just what we need. So beautiful honest connections between them two, that felt I was part of it.
I have social issues associated with my mental health. It’s nice to have someone like Kendall share her story. It gives me that little bit of hope for my future.
The palpitations and panic attacks in the middle of the night are real. It’s so hard to face it. So to anyone facing it, I wish you nothing but the best and nothing but healing and peace of mind.
An important lesson I learned: anxiety is really getting better with age, because you know yourself better and you don't take yourself too serious anymore.
Thats the best ever advice! When I get the same thoughts over and over, I start to be like, alright, it's gonna be fine just like every time lol
Thank you !

@@eilzmo uh-oh... here we go.
Is anyone counting how many times Kendall says "right..." or "hmm." On the other hand, I do love & admire she's actually trying to raise awareness for mental health
I noticed this. But this is actually part of her social anxiety. And it works in two ways.
firstly when the other person talks she becomes anxious that she might not listen perfectly to them, so she makes those sounds to show she IS listening and understands.
secondly because a socially anxious person has anxious thoughts which distract them, so by making those mini agreements with what the person is saying she’s also blocking the anxious thoughts and reminding herself to pay attention.
It’s a coping strategy.
@@BeautifulMisfit its also performance anxiety....to be so aware of yourself that you constantly make noises when another is offering instruction means you aren't retaining anything except a memory of your own performance of listening.
Jean Salazar • yes. Her noisy listening was distracting....but I did feel the urge to hug her or do something to bring her calm.

Yep, that's why people say you shouldn't judge off of one time experiences because you have no idea what they were or are going trough.
its normal for people to do that, like I do that cause I get nervous.
Wow. Which goes to show that anyone can have anxiety famous or not. It doesn’t discriminate. How many of us with anxiety, social anxiety in particular, get someone to order/pay for us. 😅most, if not, almost all of us. I know, I know that scenario too well ✋🏽

I used to have really bad social anxiety. It got so bad i could not have dinner with my family i got so red. I felt like a freak. Its not that bad anymore, I learned that I need to stop avoiding it and just face it. Really uncomfortable, at first. Things that help me: been nice to me, compassionate, and recognize little milestones for example I talk today to an stranger. It doesn’t matter if I got red, or studder just congratulate myself for doing it and slowly increasing the challenge. Remember that it might be uncomfortable but you just have to push through.
