- In this video I install a Sync 3 8" screen kit from Hell Horse Performance. My car is a 2015 Mustang GT base model Mustang with a factory 4" screen/radio with the Sync 1 system. Now upgraded to an 8" screen with the Sync 3 system from a 2018+ Premium Package car. Awesome upgrade!

I can see that f1 model is functional in f2 after market kit. Since it has two ac switch control in f1 and f2 has different one , so ac controls woking perfectly ?

@@majinbluu_956 yo I did a ton of research , I was gonna go the hell horse route just like you . But after getting on the mustang6g forums it turns out mustangs 2019 and up are direct swap with 8” radios from 2019 and up also . I ended up buying a bezel , apim and touchscreen on eBay for 500$ it was completely plug and play. I know you got a sub 18 model but if you have any homies in your crew looking to do the upgrade they should look into that it’s way cheaper . I’ll keep an eye out to see if I see the Majin Blue Machine out here . Cheers bro thanks for the info on how to install all the trim pieces

can you wire heated and cooled seats to those existing buttons. i’d love to do this but i don’t want those buttons to be pointless
Not sure on that. I didn’t have heated/cooled seats prior to installing this, so those buttons are not functional for me (along with the driving mode switches).

Hmm mine actually came on right away. Did not need to do anything else, it came on as soon as I pressed the start button.

No, sir. If you use CarPlay you’ll be fine, it’ll use your phone’s maps 👍🏽
I just bought my mustang really don't like the 4" screen. Really want to do this or have it done. Any problems with the back up camera not working ?? Mine just stopped
Yeah, actually my rear camera started messing up when I swapped out my decklid for a carbon fiber one, which was before I did the 8” screen. There’s a factory recall for the camera wires, I took mine to my local Ford dealer and they took care of it.
@MajinBluu where does that micro USB connect to that you show around 18:00? I am in the middle of doing this install and cant figure out where that goes.
Same for the little flat connector off the new harness on the long cord that you mentioned at 15:00?

It plugs in behind the screen itself, I believe. Don’t remember exactly, sorry.
The other one connects behind the screen as well, if I remember correctly.

Mine doesn’t because mine’s a base model. It never had driving modes to begin with.

If you connect your phone, yes. With the Apple CarPlay 👍🏽 I can’t use Apple CarPlay on mine as the USB hubs required for this system are on back order.

Yes, everything works for me 👍🏽 only thing that doesn’t work for me is to answer phone calls through Bluetooth, it’ll disconnect

Also, in the other video they programmed the vehicle but in yours it seems like you didnt had to, does it works fine?
@@__-mu6oo no, you don’t need the gps because you can connect your phone and just use your phone’s gps/maps.
As for the programming, I could not figure out how to do it so I didn’t do it. Everything works fine, the only issue I have is that the phone will disconnect when I answer or make a phone call. It’s pretty annoying.

I got the screen from a parted out 2017 would it work the same or do I need the specific new wiring for it to work?
you might need the new updated wiring from that car as most of the old wiring is no longer used. But I could be wrong because the system I installed is from the 2018-2021 models with the Sync 3. The 15-17's premiums had the Sync 2 system, so not too sure.

Oh man I honestly don’t remember. I think it might’ve been 2 but one of the wire ends splits into 2

I have not tried it out, but I doubt it will.
Let me ask you will the trak and sport mode work since you upgraded to synce 3 ive been thinking of doing this to mine manly to get trak and sport mode.
they are not functional, no. I believe there is a way to make them work, but I do not really care for it tbh. I was just tired of the 4" screen, it was hideous.
@@majinbluu_956 Yeah i wish i would have done more research before buying the basic model i have a tune intercooler and downpipe and when i put it in sport mode with the shifter it is super aggressive and the car starts spinning tires and i feel like im going to loose control specially when i turn off my traction control thats why i wish i would have had trak mode and sport mode.
@@victorrippe5845 you can activate it using FORSCAN once you’ve purchased the Sync 3 Kit. Hellhorse performance could guide you through it. I’m not too knowledgeable on that subject but I believe there are videos on here as well explaining how to do it. It has to do with changing the computer’s coding and such.
@@victorrippe5845 that happens with any car with decent power man. Sport mode definitely wakes the car up, if tuned. Mine’s a fbo 5.0 and anything under 40mph it’ll spin and wants to end up in the ditch. I’ve learned how to control the beast throughout the years haha but she’s a handful. There should be a way to get those driving modes but I haven’t really looked into it.

@@yuungbull885 oh dang I’ve never experienced that before. You checked the fuse box in the interior (passenger side)? Maybe try to replace the fuse?

@@yuungbull885 I believe you can replace it with whatever fuse like from Walmart, Auto Zone, etc. as long as they’re the same amps you should be good. 👍🏽
Did you notice a difference in your speakers with the new unit?
None. I had actually replaced all of my OEM speakers, with aftermarket ones, before installing this. But no, I did not notice anything different.

It needs to be programmed. I didn’t program mine and everything works fine, except for the Bluetooth disconnecting when you get/make a phone call. It’s very annoying. Other than that, everything else works perfectly. I didn’t even attempt to program it because it looked very complicated.

@@saracarrasquilla6955 no, i just replaced the whole thing, it bolted right up and plugged right in. i swapped both cars in about 45min lol, very simple. i have sync 3 in my eco so i put it in my gt because i didn’t wanna spend 2 grand for a sync 3 and i don’t drive my eco boost very much at all.

@@blade000007 oh really?? That ain’t bad actually. I had seen a price of $2k+ but $1,300 ain’t bad. This Sync 3 system was $1,500. Maybe I will look into the digital dash, it definitely looks awesome!
@@majinbluu_956 The dash was brand new. There was this guy selling them for around $900 or so brand new on ebay. No core return. With the rest of parts like the buttons for the wheel and bezel and clock spring I was at $1297. The sync 3 was cheaper since I got the harness at a discount from Hextall for being a forum member and I got the bezel and screen and apim It was close to $700 or so all in for the sync module.
You can get the digital dash from scrap yards for cheap. Some forum members got theirs for $400 which was a score and they either reprogramed the mileage at the dealer or forum member to their mileage or if the dash had lower miles they used forscan to move the mileage to the same as theirs. I also did the cross traffic\Blis and if you can source the parts it is pretty cheap

It works, but there’s not much I can do. My mom’s 2020 Ford Explorer has so many features but for my car there are almost none.

Touchscreen is great man very responsive and bluetooth never goes out like the sync 1 4" system. Still missing the USB Hub though for the Apple CarPlay :/

@@jgl8552 it’s a big decision to make considering the high price tag lol I pulled the trigger when Hellhorse Performance had a “sale” going on where they offered free navigation. Very pricey, but worth it, imo. Just like every other modification I’ve done to this car 😅😂
