- Check out the trailer for The Exorcist: Believer, an upcoming horror movie starring Leslie Odom, Jr., Lidya Jewett, and Olivia Marcum.
Exactly 50 years ago this fall, the most terrifying horror film in history landed on screens, shocking audiences around the world. Now, on Friday, October 13, a new chapter begins. From Blumhouse and director David Gordon Green, who shattered the status quo with their resurrection of the Halloween franchise, comes The Exorcist: Believer.
Since the death of his pregnant wife in a Haitian earthquake 12 years ago, Victor Fielding (Leslie Odom, Jr.; One Night in Miami, Hamilton) has raised their daughter, Angela (Lidya Jewett, Good Girls) on his own.
But when Angela and her friend Katherine (newcomer Olivia Marcum), disappear in the woods, only to return three days later with no memory of what happened to them, it unleashes a chain of events that will force Victor to confront the nadir of evil and, in his terror and desperation, seek out the only person alive who has witnessed anything like it before: Chris MacNeil.
For the first time since the 1973 film, Ellen Burstyn reprises her iconic role as Chris MacNeil, an actress who has been forever altered by what happened to her daughter Regan five decades before.
The film also stars Ann Dowd (The Handmaid’s Tale, Hereditary) as Victor and Angela’s neighbor, and Jennifer Nettles (Harriet, The Righteous Gemstones) and Norbert Leo Butz (Fosse/Verdon, Bloodline) as the parents of Katherine, Angela’s friend.
The Exorcist: Believer is directed by David Gordon Green from a screenplay by Peter Sattler (Camp X-Ray) and David Gordon Green, from a story by Scott Teems (Halloween Kills), Danny McBride (Halloween trilogy) and David Gordon Green, based on characters created by William Peter Blatty.
The film is produced by Jason Blum for Blumhouse and by David Robinson and James G. Robinson for Morgan Creek Entertainment.
The executive producers are Danny McBride, David Gordon Green, Stephanie Allain, Ryan Turek and Atilla Yücer. Universal Pictures presents a Blumhouse/Morgan Creek Entertainment production in association with Rough House Pictures.
The Exorcist: Believer opens in theaters on October 13, 2023.

Most legacy sequels don’t need to exist, but The Exorcist is at the top of that list.
after the other exorcist sequels too, sheesh
Wonder how this fits with The exorcist 3. Not so much 2
@@chadgrovdominion and the beginning plus which timeline does this fit in?
*and
another The Little Mermaid movie it seems
We basically saw the whole movie except the ending
That’s how trailers work nowadays.
Lmao truth. And the presumed deaths. Weird marketing. Maybe movie marketers do this to prevent backlash? People DO get super pitchfork-ey when they go to a movie and the movie isn't exactly how they imagined it based on the trailer. Really, ads/marketing people are just going by statistical data on what works (ie according to "x" data this type of movie sells better when we do "y".) So this is kinda on the audience.
@@Cellardoor_ backlash or blacklash?
Except when Linda Blair, playing the exorcist, comes in.
Right!! I'll still go see it
Looks like a must miss!
dont be scareeeeeed
Your Comment Is Awesome.
And This Movie Is Released.
....October.Aaaaaaaa.I Can't
Wait😂😂😂😂 Richard.
It’s rubbish, it’s not scary.
I’m so glad blumhouse never got their hands on the Alien franchise
Disney did tho
If only😂
Why
Why
Rather have new movies then no movies
All anyone has to do is watch the original old movie
That’s all you need
All you need
Don’t forget 3, that’s a great movie too.
Words of wisdom
Who keeps on green lighting these movies⁉️
And how can we tell them to stop it 😮
My thoughts exactly.
Feel like I've seen the whole movie already
They showed us some of the best parts, now we dont have to go see the rest of this unimaginative drivel.
@@stefanross8129So true 😂
The mom of the girl that was possessed in the original Exorcist movie is now a qualified exorcist, yea ok w-e. This trailer already reeks of modern horror, and looks totally devoid of what made the original so eerie and frightening.
100%
It looks more like Evil Dead Rise than The Exorcist, imo
im honestly tired of seeing old classic movies getting sequel and the original character returns just for another nostalgia cash grab. The formula alrdy been done for 100 times already cmon
It’s as believable as the psychology destroyed Sally Hardesty coming back to go toe to toe with Leatherface: Absolutely ridiculous.
Modern Horror trailer music too they all sound the exact same since like 2010
THE SHREXORCIST 3 : THIS TIME ITS OGRE
Huh
No horror movie trailer needs to be 3 mins long
Tell me you didn't understand The Exorcist without telling me you didn't understand it.
Elaborate mister
@@themarcsharkBoth Blatty's novel, and Friedkin's movie are not just a movie about an exorcism, but an exploration on the battle between reason, and faith. While yes Blatty's novel can alos be read as a thriller with horror elements, it's still about Father Karras own battle with his own faith. He is having a crisis of faith. And when here in this trailer we have Chris say that they are going to have to use every method of exorcism, it becomes clear that they are just making an exorcism movie. Not understanding the themes of The Exorcist.
@@flopius1 That actually sounds smth Id want to read
@@flopius1 seriously this trailer made me sigh out of frustration for that very reason. it's like all filmmakers have taken from the original book and film is "scary looking demon girl makes faces"
Lol this looks like a made for tv sequel
Why does she look like Chucky?
Hollywood is dead asf, they are ruining every old franchise they can think of.
Damn the trailer editor tried his very best 😂😂
He did what he could with what he had 🤣
For what he has to work with, he did a very decent job I’d say.
i'm sure its better than the movie itself
My excitement has now dropped to morbid curiosity
Is this the one with the Willy Wonka cameo?
looks like a tv movie
Hallmarks channel lmaooo
Stop letting blumhouse have these iconic IPs
Will never happen. The reason Blumhouse gets IPs is because they primarily horror films and horror films always profit.
It's silly to me when demons only know how to scream words instead of talk at a normal, audible volume.
They just kinda always stressed out
Yup. That’s what made the original great among many, many, other things
Because they are in pain
Uh....so where's the scary stuff?
New movie ideas please. It's all remakes (or reimaginings) and prequels these days
The Exorcist theme is amazing.
You might even say it's tubular.
@@horrorbyheartit rings a bell.
Is this not the same theme music from saw? Lmfao
@@ChristianMoncion No, The exorcist theme was an adaptation of Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield. The Saw theme its called Hello Zepp by Charles Clouser. Both bangers.
Its exorcistin time!
If this is not a joke , its Blasphemy ..
Seeing this, I'd rather take Exorcist 2: The Heretic as a legit sequel to the original. Hell, I'd rather have Leslie Nielsen's "Re-Possessed" as a more faithful sequel even if it was a spoof.
It takes a lot of work to be the worst exorcist sequel but gosh darn it they’ve done their absolute best
Lol
Nah apparently it's easy since there's been 4 really bad Exorcist movies since the original
@@mutedmaydayThey've been bad, but The Exorcist 2 is in a league of it's own.
@@mutedmayday no there’s so bad that it’s took extreme effort to make something worse lol
This movie looks like it's gonna be funnier than evil dead rise
Can't wait to watch
Looks like a straight to DVD movie from back in the day lol.
Literally the most generic dialogue they could possibly have come up with.
the first one is still unbeatable
A lot of things are sacred and this movie is one of them, JUST LEAVE IT ALONE
Guess Pezuzu realized he had to be PC in 2023
Welp, to say the least about the original sequels, at least they looked like they had a budget. This reeks of second-hand effort to me.
Hate the digitized evil voice also in the church. Just use similar special effects as the original.
Ohhhh dunno about this now!!!! Love the exorcist it's a masterpiece but after Halloween ends I'm skeptical
dude this blumhouse dude they make bangers
@@bigpapi3672 blumhouse made halloween ends you dope💀
@@bigpapi3672lol not all of Blumhouses movies are great just look at the last 2 Halloweens.
@@dutchvanderlinde2002kills was better than ends. They do have that five nights at Freddy's movie coming out and it looks great.
@@jackraider1039 kills was definitely better but that's not saying much lol. Five nights at Freddy's looks like fun but I've already seen Nic Cage do it 😂
This horror movie will be different: it has a recognizable name. And that's about it.
Boohoo
I’m looking forward to it.
omg this looks insanely terrible -the body in the blood 😂😂
Still can’t beat Originals Yall!
thats a nope from me dawg
MUST SEE😮😮
I’ll watch it can’t wait
her daughter got possessed in the first movie, she wasn't in the second movie, and now she's an exorcist?
for the sake of sequel! 😂 let me guess, shes gonna die in this movie next!
A 3 minute trailer ? Come on
Failed… Blumhouse just doesn’t understand how to leave classic IP’s alone. Look what they did to Halloween, enough said… 🤦♂️
2:39 2:53 Above Below in plan site!
If Pazuzu isn’t the main antagonist or not even mentioned, it failed
"We've met before."
That death note piano XD
Hey look! Hollywood continues to be out of ideas!
What an absolute sorry state of affairs 😂
Gotta love the Exorcist theme
Feh! They don’t know what made the original work.
This honestly looks fun
Damn ok. Go ahead and Insult what made the original so special.
what a wacky name.the exorcist believer (by justin bieber)
I’m not sold yet. Interested for sure, though
Can't wait for a new Resident Evil, Silent Hill or Forbidden Siren movie. 🤞
Don't trust the lady from Hereditary...
This looks awesome
🤨
I’m goin to support Leslie Odom Jr been watching his come up since he left Hamilton
Chills...? Yes and Thank you!!
That girl walking into church “body and the blood” 😬 only part in the trailer that gave me chills…
They got Ellen Burnstyn (the mom from the original Exorcist) to be in this. I'll check it out! 😊
mmm idk...
2:58 that face is nightmare fuel
Reminds me of Evil dead 2013 and evil dead rise
This shot is a reference to the teaser of the original exorcist
Stop rehashing old movies
So they’re deadites from evil dead??
should have been a series not a movie
Takes the mystery out of the movie - the original Exorcist trailer didn't show the entire movie.
Looks like a casual TV eeries episode
Affirmative action exorcist 👍
Hoping for the best but not holding my breath.
Billy: "Hey buddy, let's get lost in the woods!"
Me: "Naw, I'm going to go home and get on the PS5!"
This actually looks awesome
Writers strike hitting hard huh
Doesn't look scary
Didn't list Ellen Burstyn like she's not gonna be the best part of this.
My favorite part of this movie is when Leslie Odom Jr. says "IT'S EXORCISIN' TIME!" then exorcises all over everyone and everything.
Is Linda Blair on it?
"Cash Basket" - Andy Bernard
I'll just re-watch "Repossessed" instead....
Welcome back Morgan Creek
Man horror movies nowadays seem like comedy.
Oh lawdy a spooky ghost.
Scary
The power of Christ compels me not to see this one.
So tired of modern western horrors especially for that clip at 1:40
The people in the comments (which would be a great title for a horror movie) were not impressed. Lighten up folks
Eh
I'm just grateful it's not another remake 😂
(in action narrator voice)Exorcist 2! 2 Exorcisms, 2 girls 😎. Then the next installment is The Exorcist 3! The holy Trinity 😎
they didn’t even try
Umm ok sure why not right?
Those sequences that only exist because they must put a female strong lead role and diverse cast.
That's um..crazy
Looks great. Gave me nostalgic vibes.
😂
😂 No
An Exorcist movie that makes absolutely sure the audience knows it has no connection to Christian/Catholic mythology because surely that increases appeal
uninspired cash out
That's Blumhouse in a nutshell
@@shreder75get used to it.
@@Elatenl Exactly. Which is why horror movies are the easiest way to make money. Because they make money regardless of quality
Looks like it’s a TV series
Otra peli reviviendo una IP pero cagandose en todo lo bueno que tenía y poniendo 2 o 3 referencias para disimular
why the hell the background music sounds like death note?
dude, that's The Exorcist's Ost
