I love how awful and dirty 9’s tardis is compared to the others. Like everyone else is doing complex math on their space computers and he’s hitting the thing with a rubber mallet to make it fly straight. Such a great addition to his character
After seeing all the show, 10 and 12 ended up my favorites.
But watching Christophers series was what got me into it initially, and I think he's right up there with the best of them.
Makes sense his is in a bad shape. He was the incarnation right after the destruction of Gallifrey. Tardis needed recuperating.

I still can't get over how well this is written and it's only stock footage, made by someone who truly understands Doctor Who
and if you add in the twist in 'the timeless child' it kinda adds to all the tardis's showing up, since no idea how many the doctor regenerations had/will have. almost like they knew something like this could happen.

I mean that's standard behavior, he really beat the crap out of that old thing. Granted now that i think about it that makes sense doesn't it. That tardis had just gone through the time war, of course its gonna be acting up in weird ways. Just think of all the things that can go wrong with a tank after it faces the abuses of war for awhile.

They could have even played down the modern actors talking so damn much... that would have helped. And even though I find this two parter annoying in many ways I'm still disappointed in Eccleston. Whatever his circumstances his absence is just as short sighted as Tom's was.

8 is such an under appreciated Doctor, I love the sheer joy that McGann brings to 8 and I wish he got more time to shine on screen. The Big Finish audio dramas really help a lot in that regard.

The sheer joy of Eccleston's delivery of that line grabs me by the heart every time. We might never know why he really left DW so soon, but he deserved better.
Eccleston is doing amazing work with his Doctor for Big Finish! It honestly feels like he never left...
The things I've read, interviews with him, lead me to believe that he had serious problems with how some of those in power there were treating some of the people that worked there. Whether it was racism or classism or whatever other ism that people use to treat "the other" (not "The Other" from Who legends, just "the other" as in another group than yours) with hatred, apparently it was happening there.

@@MaryAnnNytowl I haven't heard much of that, but I do know Ecclestone was suffering from severe mental health issues at the time, he probably couldn't cope with the pressure. It's great to see him doing work for Big Finish though, we didn't have anywhere near enough time with him as the Doctor.

Hahaha got to love Eccleston roughness. That made his personality. I'm from West Yorkshire so am close to Jodie and Eccleston. Being northern 😂 and Eccleston was absolutely fantastic. Such a rough doctor but so much love and personality. Especially for one season. And to be the revival. And after the time war... Just.. Fantastic.
Also. Obviously. Billie Piper. I've watched every classic episode and every modern episode soo many times. And Billie is still my all time favorite. I cant shake it. And honestly I can barely watch the episodes with her in. It's far to upsetting to me, also because of some personal reasons that.. Some things that happen to relate to her. Her time period. Her accent. Her look, and someone I loved and is now lost. Went to school with her and was friends with her.
So it's like. Really hard to watch them episodes. Even if they are sooo dear.

I always imagine him now to be the 'PTSD'-Doctor who has to now process all the horrors of the time war before he can be lighthearted and aloof again .... which happened while travelling with Rose, peaking when he regenerated into the 10th doctor

I’ve always wanted to see a story involving the 2nd and 11th doctor. The raggedy man and the space hobo the perfect combo.
Had this been in the actual 50th anniversary special it would’ve been beyond iconic. The full edits with all of the doctors.
I wish he could have waited for Ncuti Gatwa to play as the 14th Doctor so he can be added in the scenario.

I love the idea that at some point in every Doctor's life, they go to Gallifrey during Day of the Doctor.
This video reminds me of the Day of the Doctor novelisation, there is a quote I wish to leave here from it that resonated with me because of the kindness and heroism the Doctor displays.
"I was everywhere I was needed that day, across all my lives, and I believe I have never run so fast. If I sound proud forgive me: it is the inverse of the shame I carried for so many years. But it wouldn't fit with the overall story - everyone except 11 forgets because it only happened in his personal timeline.
If this was put in as you suggest, then 9 would be a happier person, 10 would be kinder, and 11 wouldn't be so self-destructively reckless
Just like how this scene uses future Doctors to save the Gallifrey, I love how even in the original episode, they used the track "Shepard's Boy" well before the events of "Heaven Sent."
It's such an amazing score that builds up to an incredible moment, be it saving an entire planet from destruction or punching through an unbreakable wall after 4.5 billion years.
With particular additions, it makes sense: they both show the passing of a second in eternity
This takes The Day of the Doctor to a whole new different level.
It's indescribably epic, especially 12th and 13th's build up.
@@stewartseyfried Yes, I am totally with you. Steven Moffatt made an amazing job with TDoTD, although I'd really like to see how Twelve actually got in there, but it is great nonetheless. I believe and hope that the new series will actually give Jodie's Doctor a personality. Even more, a guest appearance of another Doctor will surely do the trick. I don't want to focus on recent rumours regarding Chibnall being fired and a new Doctor cast.

Holy shit I only just noticed this isn’t the official Doctor Who account. This was incredible. It’s amazing to think that for the next 300+ generations, the doctor always makes time to return to their own side once in a lifetime.

This made me cry with the sheer brilliance, and the joy of triumph... but also the sadness of knowing that he was locking Gallifrey away. Bittersweet, joyous, poignant, sanguine, and one of the best pieces of direction and editing on Doctor Who in many a year.

I uh…. This actually brought me to tears. I owe a lot of my sanity to Doctor Who and a lot of who I am came from the Doctor. Being courageous enough to see the beauty of the world around me, despite all its flaws, is something the character taught me, and watching all of them come together to protect their home? To my mind, this Gallifrey Stands fan edit, that shows part of the story we didn't see, is not only the worlds greatest Doctor Who fan edit, but also, one of the greatest fan edits ever made.
I've watched this video so many times, and it never gets old. It is genuinely my favourite video because it's just everything I love about Doctor Who. The editing is impeccable and I get chills every time. Absolutely fantastic.

I think it’s the 3rd doctor i love, he just accepts that they need to freeze gallifrey but wants to know to protect it from what. I don’t know much about the older doctors but i love this in so many ways

"Gallifrey stands!" What an amazing tribute to everything Doctor Who has been and become about. Helping people. Saving people. At least this time everybody lives. What an immeasurably poignant edit of an already lovely scene.

@@Lia-uf1ir I think Matt's costume was altered for those scene and was originally preformed in his beige costume, but the creator overlayed it with his purple costume instead to make it fit with The Day of the Doctor continuity.
It's hilarious to see Five look at the Time War happening out the window and just flip like 'Nope.'
He would probably be the one thats the most horrefied by it. The easiest way too describe 5 is "A Good man who scolds himself that he cant be better" so learning that THIS awaits cant be easey fore him.

The horrified look on the 4th Doctor's face when the 11th said, "I destroyed my own people." hit me hard as though the 4th had fully grasped what his future self meant without further clarification.
Good thing none of them can retain the memories. Even 10 didn't keep them.

Bravo a perfect choice because I can just FEEL what the 4th Doctor must be feeling and thinking from a single expression.
I like to think in this moment, he’s thinking back to the moment he could’ve destroyed the Daleks forever but chose not to commit genocide.
Little did he know because he refused then, he would be force to commit genocide against his own people centuries later.
How to take something that was already superbly emotional and powerful - and make it SO much better.
Really well done.

The time streams were out of sync. They couldn't retain it.
Whenever a Doctor meets a future version of himself he never remembers it as hes returned to the time where it hadn't happened yet. Essentially altering time in the Doctor Who universe is of the creating a parallel universe variety (similar to Avengers Endgame).
Essentially meaning don't apply logic to something that experiments with the wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey fabric of the universe
Watcher Zero it’s called consciously interacting with your own timestream. When the Doctors interact with each other it causes a large enough paradox in their own timestream so that the streams become out of sync, draining their memory of it. Some people even speculate it can drain time energy from forming for a while (so that for example weeping angels can’t feed of a timezap on a person who has done it recently). That could be a way to gain a personal shield against the Angels if you know that they are coming, if it is true!

I totally agree. And knowing the original context of the line makes the scene even better and means that material of all three televised 50th anniversary stories is used.
Much much better than the "no, all thirteen!" Used in the actual show. Although the original scene is still very epic, you've managed to elevate it!

I find it fitting how at the beginning, Two - Matt Smith's favorite Doctor - is the first to agree with Eleven.
From what I've heard Matt Smith wasn't much of a Whovian before he got the part, and had only seen the new stuff.

Matt Smith wasn't a Whovian before he got the part (he was born during the 'dark age') but after he was cast he really got into it (unlike Jodie, for example, who was told not to by Chibnall) and went back and watched the classic Doctor Who. He said he absolutely loved the Second Doctor and this inspired his outfit. I didn't know he specifically liked Tom Baker though, that's really interesting!
@@Fooq Yeah! He said he felt like a kid meeting 4th in the Day of the Doctor, and Tom's said Matt was the only person who appreciated him at the filming (BBC as per normal treated him like crap.)

spot on because it's literally an OH SHIT moment for them which more of a reason to start blasting
The only problem I have with this is that it somehow implies that the Daleks were not ALREADY firing everything they had at their enemies. And the only way I could see that would be if it would also kill them as well. Like Daleks would be melting inside their own ships but the firepower would increase.
But if I had to guess, I'd say that would have started when the second TARDIS showed up.
By the time they go past thirteen, the Daleks are just dying of fright.
@@Nanorobotic i think what they meant when they said they were increasing their fire power is they literally throwing everything they got like landing more daleks onto the planet and enchancing their state of mind which makes them reload faster
daleks shoot their weapon when they get stress which is the reason they Yell Exterminate , that's how they reload

Doctor: "Oh no it's been safe for millennia, I just do this thing once a face where I go back and do the thing that all of me did that one time, so all of me still did it, because if I didn't then I won't have rewritten history to undo the destruction of my planet."

I like that it was the Second Doctor who understood 11's plan, considering that Troughton was the most influential in how he laid the groundwork for the Doctors that followed after Pertwee. In fact the Smith's Eleventh Doctor takes influence from other Doctors including Troughton's.
It also makes sense canonically seeing as the 2nd doctor first saw the corruption of the time lords, the true power of the daleks etc... While the first was still just running away going on small adventures.. In my mind he was the one to start preparing
