Yep, this is a great application for headlight polish to remove scratches in polycarbonate optical media. It’s very similar to chemical mechanical planarization (CMP) in semiconductor manufacturing. I’d probably just start with a soft pad, sponge, or more likely a small eyeglass microfiber or microfiber cloth rather than starting with the 1000-3000 grit abrasive, unless the scratches weren’t coming out with the liquid polish personally. And also love that you used DI water with a little bit of a wetting agent / surfactant on there to get the water to lay down. Good stuff!
There’s a company on eBay that offer professional restoration of cd's etc and very reasonably priced at a fiver. They come back looking brand new but very good job! 👍
