    I washed my adidas down puffer for the first time in three years it wasn’t that dirty but it needed to be refreshed I have more than one coat that’s probably why it wasn’t that dirty but I used woolite delicates it has no harsh ingredients and I also used just a little bit of dawn just a little u don’t want to get feathers soapy I let it soak then rubbed it together in the bath tub in cool water then rinsed 4 times drained hanged for a day then took it to laundry mat and dried it on low heat then shook it over and over and hung it in my window to finish drying for two days then shook some more pulled loose feathers back in and presto coat looks good as new

    I washed my Patagonia down jacket with Granger's Down Wash per Patagonia instructions. It failed to clean the soiled areas around neck and cuffs. I took it to the dry cleaners. they said they recommended Oxi-Clean to remove this. I pre-scrubed the soiled areas with solution of Oxi-Clean and water using a toothbrush. The I soaked the jacket in 5 gallon bucket with two big scoops of Oxi-Clean for 30 minutes. Then washed in cold water/gentle cycle with regular laundry soap. Drying took two (2) full cycles on low with two (2) tennis balls and a towel. It clumped drying the first cycle. I freaked out. Spent some time trying to pull apart the clumps. Did another full cycle (with tennis balls and towel) and by the end all down fully fluffed. Jacket looks like new.

      It says at the end of the video, you can hang dry the jacket but give yourself 48 hours of sunny weather

    Great video, But when you said how often you should wash it I would like to tell you more correctly how often you should wash it
    If you wear it every day you should try to wash it once every 2 - 3 months in summer time I also recommend washing it even though your not wearing it has the down and can gather Oils and Germs,
    If you wear it once a week just go with washing it in winter and in summer twice a year.
    I know washing your jacket can be very terrifying but thing to remember, the thing that's more terrifying is seeing all the germs that dirty down holds. I ALSO HIGHLY RECOMMEND you watch other videos not just this to get a better idea of to wash them, Remember all jackets are different Go to your local macpac store if you need tips or advice always read the care label before washing.

    Is the same process for your sleeping bags?

      Hi Tenaya - similar care instructions for down sleeping bags! You can find out more on our website, if you click into the model and scroll to 'Care' - basically:
      - Store in a mesh bag to maintain the loft, if you're not using the bag for long periods of time
      - Only wash by hand in lukewarm water using pure soap (non-detergent) or Nikwax Down Wash®
      - Handle with care while wet - try not to twist or wring it (just press out the excess water)
      - Air dry or tumble dry on a low heat setting + gently break up any clumps of down
      Hope that helps!

      @MacpacLtd  Před 2 lety +1

      Get a Macpac one 😉 - no, in all seriousness, contact their customer care or pop into your local TNF store for advice from the staff. Hopefully you followed the instructions on the garment's care label.

    Can this process and products work ok a white north face jacket, as mine has pen and other stain/residue marks on it

    • @MacpacLtd
      @MacpacLtd  Před 4 lety +2

      We'd imagine it would, but given that it's not a Macpac jacket we can't be certain. TNF probably has a similar video on their channel :)
