I have made a second video where I have included some styles of hindu temple architecture that I had missed. czcams.com/video/ULoxL2RQEn0/video.htmlsi=vEbIENHPF2P5KMMm
There are various sub styles of Dravidian...what is generally called Dravidian with praharas and entrance towers/gopurams with a central garbahguha with a vimana on top and various smaller garbahruhas for each deity is vijayanagaram style. Then there is pallava style found in mahabalipuram and kanchi. The chola style has single large nagara style vimana rather than shikara and a long hall and nothing more. Small temples have a garbagruha with a dome like vimana on top derived from marata style Village temples have open temples for iyenar, Muni etc with no building Some Village temples have square boxy room with some flairs or idols around the corner ceiling
Thank you for the video, I’m trying to design a mandir roof for Mother Durga and I realize my initial design of a dome in gold leaf is too derivative of Islamic design. Will change to reflect Mt Meru. Namaste🙏
You can try Bengali style temple as well in case you want to portray Durga Puja for Navratri. I have missed that style in this video but you can find it online. Use a style more appropriate to what you want to portray.
please do research about hindu temple architecture of pakistan and aghanistan ... the gandharan school of temple architcture was well developed but i think most of the temple are lost now , but some did survive like that in kafir kot of pakistan and some in kandahar i think
Thank you for the suggestion. Looking at responses on this video, I am planning to do a video on the evolution of Indian architectural styles. The Kafir Kot style that you have mentioned is one of the early designs of Nagara style - as seen on 0:29 of this video. Of course, there must be minor variations.
@@pravyavnav yes , but sadly we don't know how the hindu or Buddhist temples of afghanistan looked like Definitely make a video of evolution of hindu temples
How could you completely leave out the Bengali and Assamese style temples followed by 150 million Hindus of Northern Eastern India? Bengali Hindu Temples have a completely individual style indigenous to Bengal and follow the various styles only found in Bengal & Bangladesh. These are Do Chala, Char Chala & Aat Chala as well as Pancha Rotno, Nava Rotno & the Unique Satera Ratna Joggonath Temple of Cumilla in what is now in Bangladesh. The famous Kamakkhya Temple of Guwahati Assam has the unique Assamese Dome Style. Please add these to your video otherwise its incomplete!

Hoysala style?
Chakukya style?
Rastrakuta style?
All these 'styles' are part of the Vesara category that developed in Karnataka. Each dynasty developed it further.
