I read this book a couple months ago….and had the same feelings where I could not understand how any one could think of this as a romance. Even a dark romance…. This was a horror book not romance.

I swear that book was written by Tate under an alias. How did her editor and publisher think that piece of trash was a good idea. And I was obsessed with Welcome to the Black Parade.
Katie, you are absolutely on point as usual...in fact, you are more professional about it than I would be. This would be a direct example of the type of book I would throw in the garbage...and yes, I have thrown out books on rare occasion. Anything that is so insulting, condescending and out of line would (for me) not be worthy of being donated or gifted to anyone. It would go with the rest of the useless waste...

you should read Butcher and Blackbird by Brynn Weaver. i've never read dark romance, not even a regular romance fan, but i LOVED it and it is an unproblematic queen 👑

Fabulous rant! Some thoughts: There may not be a Sophie Lark, pen name or otherwise, and the writer may not have been a woman. Or one person. I used to ghostwrite and a lot (a lot a lot) of my clients were men. Like 80%. That doesn't mean the names they chose and had several ghosts writing under weren't female, and one pen name covered many writers working on different series with different quality writing. In many cases the plots, such as they were, came from the male clients. Sometimes there were specific scenes they wanted or snippets of dialog. *shudder* I wrote some hideous alien invasion bdsm vampire books and a series of dark billionaire before I burned out. One book, awful as it was, made it to #70 under some strange Amazon ranking and my favorite review was "What the f* did I just read?" to which I really wanted to respond, "What the f* did I just write?" But ghosts fly under the radar. I loved the rant and am so grateful to be warned away from this.

I read this book when it came out and hated so much that I couldn't understand people giving it 5 stars on goodreads at the time.

I hope you could return that second book... mind you, when you said in another video this was a "dark romance" between a serial killer and FL, this is pretty much what I imagined, narcissism/misogynism is the standard for male serial killers after all, the only exceptions that come to mind are Dexter and Hannibal (and I'm not 100% sure on that); I guess the only way you could sell the idea is if the FL is also a disturbing character... otherwise you only have the brainwashed abused partner.

I came from the second book (there is no devil) and I just read 15 pages and he said that she eats a lot and he don't like her thrifted clothes.....
The smut scene in the last part of the book let me spechless🤢 , Even if i'm used to Dark romance...

I had the same experience w/ Sophie Lark's 'Brutal Prince'. I picked it up because BookTok was raving about it, but it ended up being THE WORST BOOK I EVER READ, NO JOKE. LITERALLY WATTPAD SHIT.

Two words... Killing Stalking. Hate me if you want to for not getting into this series. I don't understand why serial killers are becoming so popular lately. And now they're even popular in romance books. Why?! I don't care if the main characters are two men or one male and one female, it's creepy either way. And I don't ever root for the main character... ever. Because they aren't trying to escape. Not really. I got halfway through the 2nd volume of Killing Stalking and couldn't anymore. I'll try There Are No Saints so I don't feel left out. But I think I'll hate it for the same reason.
yes! I don't get the fascination with serial k!llers. I mean I get the psychological curiosity aspect if it, like how could someone possibly be like that - but it seems like it is almost glamorized or something.. IDK if that's the right word for it but it's gross whatever it is. imo.

i’m 60% into this book and i was thinking about dnfing so i looked up reviews on yt and after this vid i’m absolutely dnfing lol. also i literally wrote “manic pixie dream girl” so many times as a note both with the rain mattress scene and the revenge 🥵 scene because that’s the only explanation as to why she goes against her character every time Cole needs something to 🥵 about. i hated Mara and I found Cole highly irritating lol. this is why i avoid alpha male type stuff.

I read this book because I am painter too and I am living a hectic life and I want a rich famous artist to make me famous 😂😂😂 but not like this omg he is so toxic... To be honest I thought mara is the serial killer 😂😂😂😂 cuz I mean I want to kill few people but in my head so reading about it help me to live this fantasy .... Cole is the worst I didn't like him .... I thought the second book would be about other characters cuz I am a little interested in some side character but Cole and Mara I am sick of them so no I won't finish ( there is no devil)...

And here comes the rant about the sinners duet .... I gave the serie a 4 stars. I do not understand why you think that a modern book can not be written with sexist and degrating topics ... Mara and Cole were not shinny people in the beginng, both where flawed and had a lot of problems. Mara made a development from I feel like shit because of my childhood and my shitty mother and stepfather and at the end she was sure of herself and very much indendent with here own opinion und Cole is a f**king sociapath what do you expect how he is discriped, as Mister NICE??? He is a big AS ... and also developes during the books ..... So I do respect your opinion and they are often similar to mine but in this review you go a little bit to far and are quite unfair ... there are worse books ;-)
