Steam Deck: 800p at 60fps (Low Settings) | 1080p at 30fps (High Settings)
Switch: 720p at 30fps (Docked) | 576p at 30fps (Handheld)
PS4: 1080p at 30fps
- Lego Star Wars is not compatible with Steam Deck in Gaming mode. We must force start from desktop mode to be able to run the game.
- Not yet verified for Steam Deck. Its performance is expected to improve soon.
- PS5 30fps mode improves resolution, some textures and reflections. However, running at 60hz, 30fps doesn't feel smooth at all.
- Nintendo Switch has suffered cuts in almost all sections. Textures, lighting, number of assets, draw distance, shadows, post-processing effects...
- Despite the cutbacks, the Switch version is still a decent option, with a perfect framerate at 30fps.
- Steam Deck fails to maintain 60fps on lowest settings at the moment. Locking the framerate to 30fps with the settings set to High will give us a better experience than PS4.
- Load times are slightly faster on the Steam Deck, followed by PS5 by a second.
- PS5 suffers from some tearing and drops in 60fps mode in open environments.
- In general, it is a good job on all platforms (although on PS5 it could have given more). I'm surprised with Steam Deck, because despite being officially an Unsupported game according to Valve, it runs satisfactorily. - Hry

As a Switch user is sad to see how good it looks at times and how bad it looks at others, hope they can get a patch to improve the performance of the game
+1
As expected, the visuals do see a pretty big downgrade on the Switch; but I do applaud the devs for tweaking the settings to a point that it runs at a locked 30FPS with no frame pacing issues. IMHO, not bad for hardware that's over 5 years old--the love and support for the NSW is real!
Personally, I'm way more likely to play the NSW version b/c of the portability, but will definitely pick up the PS5 version down the road to have the game in its best visual format.
I was actually pleasantly surprised with how good it actually does look on switch lite.
@Chicken Nugget that's obvious man, but at least, well if you compare other lego games switch usually holds up very well, rn it just looks awful, but, I hope they fix it, is crazy to think a little tablrt compared to other consoles can run next gen games
@@andreyrh Part of the reason why the Switch version seems like a major downgrade is simply because they used a brand new engine. However, compared to many LEGO games, this one managed to hit a stable 30fps.
Sad to see the switch can’t take full advantage of this beautiful game. I really wanted to buy this on my switch for the portable aspect but had to go with PS4 because I wanted to fully appreciate this masterpiece.
I'm just getting both. Switch version looks great enough to have it on the go. No need to be a graphics snob
@@MrSwitchblade327 I’m usually not a graphics snob at all but man you can really see the switches age and it’s crazy. Obviously graphics aren’t everything but it does play some form of role in enjoyment.
@@MrSwitchblade327 i mean why would you pay 60$ for this on a switch..
games that arent from nintendo should cost 20-30$ dollars only
@@MrSwitchblade327 it's not a matter of graphics, it's a matter of performance and in that case the Switch doesn't do that well
@@MrSwitchblade327 why are you calling me a graphics snob?? I’m assuming you’re buying 2 copies because you also want to experience the the beauty of this game so???
This is actually a surprisingly demanding game. I bought it for the switch, but the switch seems to struggle quite a bit even with it's low settings. Updates are helping gradually though, and maybe they'll be able to increase lod when they patch it more. Probably should've bought the PC version, but the switch is just more convenient.
same lol ;-; such a shame how underpowered the switch is
Thanks for the video! Got this on Switch and was curious(despite knowing the answer) to see how other versions looked/performed comparatively. Still, it’s a fun game.
Are you happy with it? I'm debating PC vs Switch; this seems like a good game to just lay in bed and unwind with.
@@isturma I have it on the switch also and I'm personally very happy with it! 98% of the time it is at a solid 30fps and I don't even notice the frame rate being lesser than what I'm "used to" as a PC gamer. The graphics are lesser, but honestly they aren't an issue for me! I would 100% recommend if you want to enjoy a handheld experience, no doubt
@@isturma you honestly notice the lesser graphics much less so when you are actually playing and enjoying the really fun gameplay! So for those reasons I think it is still a really good buy for the switch
@@Braeden.F Thanks for taking the time to reply! I keep leaning towards the switch version, but I have a really good PC and gaming laptop; I just feel like I wouldn't really play it on there.

I would say he has something like a contract so he does not have to buy the games or at least not for retail price.
@@seplayer Not really, there still are crazy people that will go out of their way to buy every version of the game just to get views on CZcams. Plus there's way bigger channels than this one that do the same thing. Wouldn't it be wise to make a contract with the person that gets the most views that make these kinds of videos?
@@OnMyWayToAsakura well, for PC and switch you could also have a ripped copy of the copy and play it without buying. But in most cases I don't think people would do that. Further he could also resell the console copies again so he won't make a big loss.

I don’t understand docked being at high settings and handheld being at low for Steam Deck since there is no difference in graphical power between the two. Are you setting it to low for battery considerations?
Probably high settings are to compare it to big consoles like PS4 and PS5.
i wish he picked high settings for handheld mode too the shadows look so bad on low
Being docked allows for more power to go to the unit than the internal battery, therefore can probably push higher clocks on the APU. Like switch steamdeck is more powerful docked.
@@bigjus3751 That is simply not true, the Steam Deck performs exactly the same in handheld and docked mode.
@@SirDanomen true, but it changes dramatically the battery life. I have a steam deck and on high 60fps it only runs for 1hour... 😅 on low 30 it's around 2,5 to 3 hours of battery life (in lego star wars) So i only play high when charging.
That's one aspect the switch literally destroys the steam deck. the game runs for around 6 hours with one charge on the oled switch of my girlfriend.
Was there a reason you opted to run it at Low settings on the Steam Deck when you were in handheld mode? Just a matter of adding battery life? I only ask in case you don't know the Deck doesn't get additional power when docked; it should run the same plugged in or not!
EDIT: It helps to read the description, it seems! It was just a comparison metric; it won't hit 60 FPS at the lowest settings, but will maintain over 30 even on High settings AND at 1080p; so crank the graphics in handheld, turn on the 30 FPS Limiter and enjoy smooth gameplay
In gaming handhelds battery life is a thing this is why SD gem 1 is hated because of its poor performance at lower tdps. While in docked mode you can use full 15 watts on the apu without taking in account the battery.

@@Wolf40013 no switch is just pathetically weak you have to understand the fact that switch is not reaching ps4 level of performance oh ya don't use doom and wolfenstein as an example while these games aren't quite as demanding as skywalker saga
Might have to stick to 30FPS, but at that framerate it's impressive how close the Steam Deck gets to PS5. Amazing results for a handheld PC, and bodes well for it hopefully being able to run most games this generation.
@Burst Gaming it can emulate the switch or at Least Mario odessy at 60fps flat. Also it is a hybrid but the official dock isn't out yet.
Can you please do a PS5 vs Xbox One X vs PC with the 60 FPS modes on the consoles please! Great video! :D
Nintendo Switch may not look as pretty but I don’t really care. I do wish it was at least 1080p on docked mode but regardless I understand why it’s not but the fact that a game like this can run on the switch is just mind blowing
After all the patches it looks really good rn
Now I’m happy I got this on PC. Considered picking it up on PS5 but only hitting 1368p is kind of confusing

@@MrSwitchblade327 I'm putting PC aside, I don't play on PC, but you can indeed enjoy them there.
But if we talk about consoles, why buying an older console to play these ? Older games runs better on the newer console anyway (and sometimes looks better too)
@@MrSwitchblade327 I much prefer to play older Lego games on the newer Xbox. Besides, the only way to play older Lego games on consoles anyway is to either play them on the original console, or play them on an Xbox because they’re all backwards compatible. Computers can play all of them. PlayStation can play all recent releases, but to play to older games you have to stream them. Only problem is though, not everyone has internet fast enough to handle it.

fascinating upload ElAnalistaDeBits. I smashed that thumbs up on your video. Maintain up the quality work.
The thing that bothers me the most with the Switch version so far is that the characters look so blurry and I don't know if this is something that could be improved in a patch.
The frame rate is stable.
@@hggfhh4449 I wasn't talking about framerate
Hello, just got my copy of Lego Star Wars for Nintendo Switch and saw in the intellectual properties notices of the software (like in the Switch Sports Beta Demo a few weeks back) that the game utilizes FidelityFX CAS. What do you think about this? Does it helps the game in your opinion? Nobody has talked about this yet I believe...
Isn't that some kind of psuedo upscaling technology?
i dont get, why handled is on low settings? whats the point if it can be with better setting at 30fps?
There's a 30 fps mode on PS5? I didn't find any option in the menu to toggle it, I'm in 60fps mode all the time. (However I don't see any issue with resolution, guess my TV upscaling is doing its job correctly)
U can only switch the modes when u are playing, pause and then video settings, u cant switch it at the main screen.
That's really nice to see Steam Deck in here 👍
although the Switch version is obviously inferior to others in terms of graphics, the fact that i can play this game anywhere at anytime with my brother is why im getting the Switch version.
Saaaaameee
it's still the same game yknow
@@Lalovoe yea honestly a game having slightly worse graphics than expected is definitely not a deal breaker for me. If the gameplay is amazing then i couldn’t care less about graphics.
@@HippoHunk. Yeah same, except that I care for graphics nonetheless. But not in the traditional sense of only wanting high quality, but relatively high quality. And with this title I can tell that effort was put into making it look good. I appreciate thta very much! 🙂
You can also play the steam deck anywhere you want to with better graphics on the go
I'm was hopping the nsw version to look better :( , I like the portability, but the lighting is really dissapointing in some parts, I guess I'll go with the ps5
The main issue with the graphics on switch it that it looks too fuzzy and bright. Same issue with breath of the wild. Hoping Nintendo makes a home console that has way more, or at the very least on par with the ps5 graphics
honestly though with handheld mode it’s not a problem at all, frame rate is still an issue but since the screen is so small it’s a lot harder to notice bad graphics compared to a monitor or tv, when you actually play on a monitor or tv though then yea I agree it looks rough.
it's easier to play outside in the sun when the game is bright.
I don’t think that’ll happen. Nintendo consoles are always underpowered. Best we could hope for is Series S graphics in the next Nintendo console which wouldn’t be too bad
@@Andrew_H43 the steam deck showed what is the best possible right now in a portable form factor. (2021 tech) and it's about ps4 level. the switch with 2017 tech is about ps3 level.
I bought the game on switch because of a review I read that said “the game looks great on switch”. Man, what a lie that was. The game is still fun tho, but man I wish I bought it on another console.

Thank you for including the steam deck
I really want this game... But now that I've seen this video, I'm debating on the idea of playing it on the go but with the cheapest power... Or play it alone maybe on PC o possibly PS4/PS5...
Im definitely getting it for both switch and ps5 for me and my son.
Is the graphic on the switch really that noticeable while playing handheld/docked?
I never noticed "the pixels" in Breath of the Wild.
I notice the pixels in star wars but in botw, it was handled a bit well.
Did they use fsr for the switch version? If not I would love an update to add it
VERY disappointed that the PS5 needs to drop to 1440p (common 1368p) in order to lock to 60 FPS in a goddamn Lego game... What is this???
Lego or not, more stuff is being used that stresses anything even regardless of graphics
*POOR* optimization on TT Games’ part. It’s too bad, honestly. I got the PS5 version and I, too, was disappointed in how fuzzy the image looked in 60fps. The PS5 sure isn’t struggling to maintain a 60fps target at variable 2160p in a cross-gen LEGO game…it’s just poor optimization. It sucks…
It's called planned obsolescence. They want to make it look like ps5 GPU is ageing so that they get an excuse to release psr pro or ps6
Guess it is time to stop buying ports for switch and wait for my Steam Deck (Q2 Order). The differences are simply striking.
The pop-in in the Nintendo Switch version gave me eyes pain
How
I’m sorry but Switch looks pathetic. 720p at 30 frames in 2022 🤣.. That pop in from 4:15-4:38 is embarrassing. I’m a multi console player and only use my switch for first party titles. It’s sad cause there was a time Nintendo was very competitive with its hardware but it seems they just don’t care about that anymore and it’s partially our fault for being so easy on them. Switch OLED further exemplifies how they don’t care anymore. Also that frame dip at 5:02 for PS5 60fps was a little scary, hopefully that’s not a common theme because I plan on getting the game soon for PS5 and playing it in performance mode.
Quick PSA: The Steam Deck does not have a "docked" or "handheld" mode. Being docked just means connecting to a screen, and maybe a power supply. It can run this game on ultra at 60fps while "handheld", and has plenty of battery life for a long play session. Anyone who has performance issues on deck, just set the compatibility from proton 7 to experimental. Runs like a charm.
This is true except battery life is just not good at 60fps on steam deck. I do think this comparison is misleading though given that both handheld and docked are the SAME. Just its a consideration since it uses more battery.
was just about to buy this for the switch. Guess Im getting it for the PS5 now.
Does anyone know the resolution and frame rate on a ps4 pro i cant seem to find it anywhere online
I like how consistent the Switch version runs 👍
Great run nice video.
I was gonna get it on the switch now hell nah ima get it for the ps5
The music is fire
I only bought it on Switch, because I’m running low on Storage for my PS4 Pro. I hope it’s at least fun and I won’t regret it….
@Bjjkid 27 Thanks for letting me know. 👍🏻
@Bjjkid 27 seriously?
How about you just delete a game. Its kinda a dumb reason to get a worse version. Im pretty sure you got some game you ain't played on there in a minute. If you need to go back just redownload it.
@@futureelement924 Nope all the games I have are games I don’t want to delete. It’s whatever I’m not tripping that much about it.
I hate the situation on switch where games are needed to run around 500p just to hit the 30fps mark to be ported on the switch. Just shows why switch is full indie games.
This video made my decision to go with the ps5 version instead of switch. Thank you!
Does switch really look this.. bad on portable mode? Or do you not really notice it when switched to portable??

It actually sucks man, for me being a switch player and looking other lego games run better on switch, this can be way improved, like seriously
@Forte Games yeah man exactly, even other lego games on switch like city undercover or marvel 2, shows that switch usually holds up very well, switch is just a little tablet compared to ps4 and 5 so its obvious it isn't going to run as good as in ps

Steam deck is insane
Pc
Switch certainly does better in some moments than others. It feels that if it can, it looks better. The blur at the beginning is usually the worst it gets
from what I saw...
- Steam Deck is the real Console Experience on the Go.
- the ps4 still shows better graphics than the Deck.
- there's technically no native ps5 version, it felt like it's just the ps4 running on ps5 BC, seems like this is actually made for the ps4/XBONE in mind.
- the Switch version is alright, especially if you don't compare it to any other version, also the switch version in comparison to the ps4's felt like comparing ps3's washed out ports to ps4's remasters all over again.
I wanted this on switch but I think going from 4k 144hz to 720p/576p 30 on switch is going to be awful
The Switch still looks impressively well for a 2017 handheld that costs $199, but it's... Steam Deck definitely delivers the best portable experience, It looks as good as the PS4.

As a switch version owner this wants me to go out and buy a ps5
Went for the PS5 version thinking that there wouldn‘t be much of an difference compared to Series X. Well, should‘ve went with the Series X version instead 😕
trophies though.
.. So, ps4 and 5 have the same graphics settings.... Wow.. What an optimization!!!!! Very compliment!!!ps5 (10 TeraFLOPS) provides only better framerate
...clap clap
@Bjjkid 27 what?? Only in res and frame... Ps5 is 5x the power of the ps4 and this is The result???!! PS5 can't handle 4k in this game.. The sh preferred to optimize the game for xbox as u can see.. Native 4k and stable fps
@@A-Sharad_Hett Bro who bought XBOX here ???
@@remyroland8016 me 🤠
I translated this to English, so sorry if this does not answer your question specifically, I play this game on the ps5, and have noticed frame drops in crowded areas only, like the underworlds of Coruscant
@@brik248 that and few places like the Droid factory to save Obi-Wan or the boss fight with general grevious
@@brik248 Yes, that's exactly what I was asking, thank you.
I knew the answer but, I feel like a fool for getting this on switch
Same lmaoo
why is there no comparison with xbox consoles?
As a switch owner I freaking hate how underpowered it is. It has all the right games but would benefit SO much if it were more powerful.
They built this game for ps5 xbox x and newer PC hardware
Had they built it for switch it wouldn't be as bad, kirby forgotten land plays amazing, smash bros amazing, mario kart 8 amazing.
@@RocketZX true
Switch needs more power to keep up. More less enjoyable with this low res blurry graphics. And we are half life of the system. Guess we'll have a pro by end of this year.
Y'all really gotta let the switch pro take die. Its over. Just wait for switch 2 in 2025
@@vash_visionz Wouldn’t they kind of be the same thing almost? I cant see them going back to just a regular console based on how popular the switch is
Great job!
