@@TRDJon I have not my friend, my excuse is that Toyota sold it to me like this. I enjoy the extra ouput of lumens to the detriment of my fellow citizens. Love your work by the way sir.
it’d be nice to get an aftermarket headlight that is 100% plug and play with the 4runner OEM headlight harness. the stock lights have DRL’s without extra wiring, so why can’t any of these companies make the aftermarket light’s work with toyota’s OEM harness so there’s no extra wiring for the DRL’s.
Wonder if I should lower the angle on my factory ones. Just bought my 2023 pro…I keep getting flashed. But, that will also amplify my irritation with the LED’s. You see where the beam is pointed…and then total blackness beyond. Can make driving tricky when something just pops into your lights. Not all situations… Does this drive anyone else insane? Is it just me? Another thing…if you are going to give me that crisp light between light and darkness, make it a smooth line. FYI- I know these are lightweight “issues”. Def 1st world problem.
Alpharex has a good thing going with the 4 runner/Tacoma’s. I like the fact they offer headlights @ different price points. Not many aftermarket lighting companies are doing that.
@@TRDJonLet me guess you got rid of this beautiful 4 Runner I would have kept it. I can never understand why anybody goes and mods it and spends so much money on a vehicle and then turns around and gets rid of it.

crazy that it's that many wires, the morimoto is just plug and play and then one wire to the fuse. these are interesting though, glad that there's another option for the 5th gen
Morimotos are the best design and performance for the 4Runner hands down. I have the gen 2’s with the amber drl. They are absolutely AMAZINGGGGGG!!! The amber drls and amber on the outside when the headlights are also on are an absolute game changer. They just look so good and aggressive with the amber strip going all the way around. And it’s not the weak drl most companies have where you can barely tell they are on like alpha rex headlights with the drl, or at least their older model now but the morimotos leds shine super bright during the brightest. I can literally use my amber drl light only as a headlight if I really needed to loll. It still lights up the road at night a little bit. Also swapped out the stock tail lights for morimoto XB taillights and also got morimoto xb fog lights, all three morimoto xb headlights taillights and fog lights have been the best upgrade I’ve made. I like the morimoto design better than these new alpharex with the drl going all the way around for the morimotos compared to these. These are Def better than the older ones tho but don’t like how the drls don’t go all the way around and that they cut off towards the bottom and looks awkward. Not horrible but not as clean as morimotos. It’s just a weird design imo and maybe they wanted to differentiate from the morimotos but don’t really like that design aspect personally but the actual main headlight output and brightness seem very good and look just as bright as the morimotos. The drls/signals and design is where morimoto takes the cake over the rest of the plug and play led lights for the 4Runner. I like how the brights turn the drl outer strip to white tho. That’s a cool design feature.
To me the design is exactly to how the OEM ones are from the 4R. The chrome is essentially replaced by the DRL feature on these. Maybe one day I'll be in a 4R at night with morimoto lights to compare, but right now there suckers are bright! I personally don't care for how the morimotos DRL looks. It's like an unstraight line imo. But I hear nothing but good about them, at least their second gen ones.
Question for those who have swapped their headlights: Is there any option among these after market that's actually reliable? Cause tbh, the original headlights might not be the best, but they last for ever. I have read many different opinions about these options, and most seem to not last long. Any inputs?
Less than three months ago, I installed the Alpharex Luxx headlights in jet black on my 2016 Limited. Unfortunately, the passenger side low beam has already stopped working. I checked the fuse and wiring connections, and they appear to be in good condition. After reaching out to Alpharex, they informed me that I must replace the entire headlight assembly. They also told me that since I purchased these headlights through a third-party vendor, I'm required to navigate the warranty process through that third party. I've recently been in contact with the website from which I ordered the headlights, and they are reaching out to Alpharex on my behalf. At this point t feels like I'm going in circles, and the process is taking much longer than I had hoped for a resolution. I'm contemplating removing the Alpharex Luxx headlights and reinstalling my original ones. Despite this experience, I must acknowledge that I was pleased with their performance and appearance, except for the unfortunate failure issue. Perhaps I simply received a defective assembly, and others might have a more positive experience.
TRD Jon, I like the bumper mount light bar - who makes those? I would like those for my 2020 4Runner. Oh, and by the by the newest headlamps are the best.
Jon, thank you so much for all your videos. Quick question...is there a way to disable the sequential turn signal? I would rather have it just blink like normal. Also, did they provide instructions for install on a 22+? I have heard people say there is a slight difference and wanted to see what that may be. Thank you, again sir!
Hey, no worries I’m always happy to make videos for you guys! I’m not sure if there is wiring inside of the headlight that you can ask Alpharex about to disable the sequential portion. I think that 2022+ there is just an adapter that is required, because those lights are a little bit different than the previous year models.
White vs Amber: If all it takes is a wire connection to change from white to amber, couldn't you run wiring from each headlight to a switch in the cab so you can change from white to amber on the fly?
Or, connect that wire that makes the DRL amber, connect it to a relay that is triggered when you turn your amber fog light on. You have white DRL until you turn your fog lights on, then the DRL changes to amber.
@@TRDJon yes, like t-tap the wire powering the fog light below and have that circuit switch a relay that changes the drl from white (open) to amber (closed)
Can you post a vid with lights properly aligned? Without that, true throw of the light beam is unknown. Also, I don't care about the packaging. But, I do care about the throw when properly aligned.
@trdjon How is the headlight output at night compared to the 1st generation alpharex that you had in previously? A lot of reviews had the 1st gen alpha's being beaten by the morimoto gen 2's.
@@TRDJon ok 1 more question because I'm alittle confused. When ordering after picking my options I wanted it says $1540 for quantity of 1. Does that quantity of 1 mean for 1 headlight or a set of 2?
Surprised that no one flashed their high beams at you. I get flashed multiple times every time I drive my 4Runner at night. It has oem lights.
