We drive the new Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio and see how this super sedan compares.
Is this the ultimate four-door supercar? Powered by a screaming 2.9-litre twin-turbo petrol V6, the Giulia Q manages to combine an incredibly supple chassis with a brilliantly rapid powertrain to produce a brilliantly cohesive experience. Really, it’s quite something - and that’s for someone who doesn’t have a natural affinity for Alfa Romeo cars, unlike some.
But is the refreshed and improved Giulia Quadrifoglio the pick against AMG’s popular C63, the new BMW M3, or an Audi RS4 or RS5?
In today’s video, Tom takes a detailed look at the facelifted Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio sedan to give you detailed insights about this vehicle.

I have a 2017 QV. Daily driver and never gave a toss about the infotainment and switch gear, which never bothered me. Only wish I had the Sparco seats. It’s an awesome car, love it.
Completely agree. Also have a 17 QV and the interior design is generally underappreciated.
well that's you... for most people in the modern age, that's a big deal and also something that shouldn't be impossible to do given they're a Chrysler company that can just integrate existing tech into their cabin. Just lazy shite i suppose.
@@FreddyMacT Good points but you're not fiddling with the infotainment for hours on end. Everything the Quadrifoglio does so well makes up for its shortcomings, easily.
@@Alby911 what does that have to do with paying almost 90K for a car that has a 5 years backwards infotainment? both in screen colour and even the backup camera looks bad.
that's just purely unacceptable at that price range, especially when your parent company has the system to integrate easily into your set up. like I said, it's lazy.
Only thing I miss is android auto for maps. Do people use the infotainment for anything else?
I own the Giulia and its a great automobile. I'm in my 2nd lease of one, both sedans have had zero problems or any issues whatsoever. The QV with that engine is the top of the line. But the car is a superb sport sedan. Great review of a terrific car.
I got a 2021 Q last week. The thing I can’t get over is it really is two different cars. Going around buying donuts or lightbulbs, it’s a very pretty town car. Get the right road and go into race mode, it’s a monstrous Ferrari. I agree with everything in the review. It needs to be said over and over how amazing the steering and suspension is. And what a delightful experience it is getting to know the engine.
Totally agree.
I’m just over a week into ownership of a QF your words could of been my own it’s an absolute masterpiece 🇮🇹🍀
Most beautiful car in existence. Period
Bargain four door Ferrari - love it - great review Tom 👍
Saludos.
An absolute dream car of mine! One day I'll do it hopefully...

@@robertceroli3512 in much the same way as its competitors in that regard, except that BMW doesn’t even provide a 5 yr warranty.

Thanks, great Video!
Excellent review. Great job. Def buying one of these. On my second e92 m3, which I love, but this guilia is amazing, much more appealing than an f80 M3
You always say all the right things :)
Very nice review, Tom. You rightly mentioned the infotainment system and the switch-gear quality as being one of the slight gripes with the original QV. They were not bad, but I certainly agree they were not up there with the Merc or BMW. It is pleasing that this detail has been addressed to a degree (mind you, anyone who would not buy a QV because of this alone would likely not be a true driver). But one other major gripe were the brakes. I know - I've owned a QV for 4 years. The brakes are fabulously solid and you know they will do the beans if needed in an emergency or indeed in any acceleration from high speed. But they really are not good around town where you're doing a lot of low speed gentle decelerations and stops. It's just impossible to feather that last bit of deceleration so you gently come to a stop. I end up having to apologize to any new passenger in my car - I can drive, honestly. I would be interested to know whether Alfa have left these alone in the latest QV or whether there has been any attempt to make them a bit more progressive, especially with gentle brake pressure. Does anyone know?
Yes. That's it. A car for a human who loves a car experience. Bravo!
This guy knows how to paint mental pictures!! I'd like to read his full car reviews if available.
Nice review
Great review and very thorough. Did you film by chance and test it out near Cattai, Wiseman’s ferry way?
Nice choice Tom , if I had the money I would get one too but in Red.👍
I have an alfa 147 and its still amazing to drive, its been in our family since 2007 brand new, got it from my mom few years back... I'd go for the stelvio now cuz of the awd and space for dogs in the trunk :D but yeah, styling of alfas was and still is amazing. stelvio with rosso paint and black wheels ufff I'd stare at the car all day.
Check out the new tonale she is gorgeous
In two long weeks at my garagge.Cant wait
An absolutely gorgeous machine.
Best car ,, love it 😍
Is it possible to get Andriod phone on the 2018 model?
Nice review Tom. It seems Alfa needs to buy a Mazda before it embarks on a new model production so they can ape the ancillary controls and their feel. Having lived with my Mazda CX-5 GT 2.5T petrol for 18 months I feel Mazda has got it right. I rarely try and use the screen as a touch screen as the rotary dials and buttons for the infotainment system are so nice to use. Perfectly weighted and offer immediate interaction and with the HUD no reason to take my eyes off the road. Yes, the Alfa is such a beautiful car in the metal. Lloyd
Never seen it in white before. Looks awesome 👍
I didn't expect to like it in the white, but it looked epic.
do you have opf (aka petrol particulate filter) in your country (australia)?
Can really sense how Tom likes Giulia QV. I have recently fallen in love with Giulia, and I think the green over tan one looks actually greater, and should be more sensible as a daily.
Picked up one late last year, it's sitting right now due to the nasty salt on the roads, but mate - I miss it.
A great review, I pick mine up in 2 weeks! Having road tested it myself, I must agree with your appraisal in every way! It’s definitely got a split personality, I love it.
So why doesn't Australia get the new (clear) tail lights?
Wheres the park at Tom? Looks familiar.
This is a great looking car! So pity not many people are driving it.
Probably because it's $150,000 and many people would buy multiple cars for that money
Probably because it’s overpriced as shit
@@pwj86772 60k for used one. Can’t beat that
More and more are appearing on our roads, largely because many drivers are trading in their crap Mustangs for one of these real sports cars. In any case, $150K is a fair price to pay for genuine super car.
I paid 90k for my demo QV - bargain of the century. The engineering in this car is off the charts. It’s simply an incredible car.
I am soooo with you Tom. I yearn for one of these, sure some Alfa's have issues but so do all stunning Italian supermodels that sing like angels, have a good rack and know they're good in bed. Money might not be able to buy one class but it sure buys you style. Park this anywhere and both men and women alike stop and look at it. Unlike an SUV this car shows you haven't given up on life. You nailed it with 'Buy this and I congratulate you for doing so'. 😎
I'd kill for a review of rs5 but with a 4.2l v8 from 2015, if you could find one
C’mon man, you’re on CZcams.
What an amazing car, a real car.
Wo cares about infotainment system if you have an Alfa Quadrifoglio 🔥🔥☄
Not to mention the active aero up front, similar but different to the Porsche Turbo S, and the carbon fiber drive shaft!
Beautiful car for sure. Was the engine note piped in to the speakers or natural? Qudos if natural. Flappy paddle clicks are annoying as heck (not just this car).
Engine sound is natural. No piping into the speakers.
Excellent review. This is the best sports sedan on sale today and for the last five years.
Do you even launch bro ?
RIGHT AWAY I CAN TELL THIS IS GOING TO BE A GREAT REVIEW.....FORGET THE OVER RATED GERMAN U BOATS !!!!

As much as I like this car and would love to own one. Not sure I could pay 150,000 for one especially in base white and when they depreciation so quickly.
I paid 90k ex demo. Only idiots buy new cars.
Biggest problem of the Quadrifoglio: unlike other Giulias, it's not available with a green exterior and a beige interior :-/
yuk!
🤮
Can’t you review the Giulia qv with the Alfa 159 ti?
In he sixties a civil engineer (& my 'Best Man') had three Alfa Romeo Giulitetas in a row, and all in red. His judgement was proven sound in that he also predicted the collapse of Melbourne's WESTGATE BRIDGE. My favourite thing about the Alfa brand is that its badge is the Best on Earth. Still gorgeous & a performer Hopefully the merger with PSA would bring stricter quality control for Alfa Romeo
Wow. for a moment I thought you meant PSA was Pacific Southwest Airlines (All B737's)/an American Airlines subsidiary.
Build quality of this Alfa is far superior to any PSA product.
Hows the Build quality though? I love them but stories I've heard haven't been good for the price of this car.
Check in 3-5 years once warranty and leases are finished. 📉
Build quality is top notch. I’ve had my QV for 2 years and drive it hard. No a single rattle and mechanically perfect. The same can’t be said of the BMW and Audi I owned. Take a test drive, you’ll be hooked.
Would you take a top shelf Toyota Camry or a Mazda 6 atenza?
Mazda 6
I'd take the Camry with the V6 the most underrated car V6 camry
Both shit. Neither.

Been reading reviews on this updated edition of the Quad, they are hard to find here in Canada, but holy shit $150k? I can get the same car here, incl carbon fibre pkg @98k. Who’s getting that extra 52k?
1 AUD = 0.92 CAD, so that’s close enough on a currency basis. The answer is the federal government here in Australia, which levies a 33% luxury car tax above $70k

At 7:50 is reported that it has 16.9 cubic feet or 480 liters of trunk or boot space. This is not a TOP 500 SEDAN, which belongs to the select group of those whow have more than 500 liters of capacity in its trunk or boot, but it is bigger than the trunk of the MOST SELLING CAR IN THE WORLD for more than 12 years, the Toyota Corolla with 470 liters of capacity. I'm going to put this video on my decents sedans playlist.
@User 2389 Jaguar XF with 540 liters of trunk or boot capacity
@User 2389 In a sedan? Yea! It's very simple to understand. The Toyota Corolla, the best-selling car in the world for over 12 years and the best-selling medium sedan in Brazil, has a trunk with a capacity of 470 liters. The best-selling sedan in Brazil, Chevrolet Onix (a compact), on the other hand, has a trunk with a capacity of 1 liter smaller, 469 liters. Sedans with less trunk capacity than these two are doomed to fail, at least in Brazil, are considered SEDAN FAKE GOURMET, those who are born ready to be swallowed by an SUV. Do you understand now?
Who cares about trunk space?
@@theLEGOguy22 Who needs space in the trunk off course!

Oh boy oh boy oh boy...... this is pure sex! I'm sooooo proud of my Italian neighbors.
150 k of your own money buy one. Mr Baker no one uses the own money to aquire these bulk of them and high end euros are leased through businesses. Leasing companies generally want them back arter 4y as they are easier to dispose of with some factory warranty remaining
Mate, you got the wrong seats
I have an '18 QV and I HATE the steering wheel, it's got that hideous Frankensteinian leather, alcantara, carbon fiber combo wheel that is reason enough to get a 2021...actually I'll wait for 2022
Did anyone else scrub back to hear Tom say the price again? 😱 Forgetaboutit #kissofdeath
No.
Amazing cars with Ferrari engines, tuning, and suspension are expensive. In other news, water is wet.
so basically,, it's a Dmax? Hear me out. The new dmax compared to the old dmax is, great, just better. And so if you stepped into a new dmax you wouldn't know how much more great it is compared to the old one. Similar to the quady? maybe?
But John Cadogan says Alfa Romeo are truly terrible
No not at all gorgeous to look at got the best v6 soundtrack supa car acleration, handling, braking, very comfortable a real head turner. Beautiful car, but a headache to own.
Not really, though. Has been rated quite highly by reliability surveys.
@@rodlotus really, I would love to see that. In Europe (where I live) Fiat group is considered one of the most unreliable cars out there, next to high maintenance British (ex British, now Chinese/Indian cars).

You always show the same roads when filming the car. It's a beautiful car, why always show it from the same angle?? You didn't even show the new infotainment system. No 0-60. No boot capacity. Little bit boring.
It’s funny that Alfa has been saying improving their quality for decades, yet every time you see one used ,they are always seem falling apart.
How many used ones have you seen? I've seen at least a dozen and they're all pristine.
@@rodlotus As much as I'd love* this model to succeed, there's no way I'd part with my hard-earned to buy a new one. 3-5 yrs old used with complete service logs, possibly. Maybe the fact I saw one at a SE Melbourne wrecking yard last year; burnt out from A-Pillar forward due to an engine fire; might have something to do with that; just maybe....
* Former Italian car tragic, 10+ years ownership of a 124 Coupe in the 80s/ 90s; which included a bolt-up body+mechanical / electrical restoration - so I've earned my stripes. And; just to show my inner masochist hasn't died, I bought another as a 55yrs HBday-2-me project in 2019.
My daily is a DIY manual swapped (in 2018) IS300 Wagon. It's 18 years old & aside from scheduled maintenance and an O2 sensor, nothing on that car has ever gone wrong in the 9 years I've owned it. He's been a very good boy, which is why he's getting a 3UZ V8 transplant.
@@geeess2513 I'm an avid poster at the Goukia forums and have never heard of one catching fire. It was rated top 10 in reliability above Honda in recent European surveys. Mine has been rock solid for 2 years.
@@rodlotus Saw the car with my own eyes get parts for my Fiat @ The Italian Job.
IIRC it was a base model (i.e. not the V6). Was it due to a freak accident, owner error or mechanical/ electrical fault? Who knows. The only thing the owner told me was that it was an engine fire.
That said would I buy a good used one if I was in the market? Yes, maybe, if the price / condition / service logs panned out - I would.
The Alfa is a beautiful car and it's not like BMW is a paragon of parts / build quality. I looked at a 3 series wagon before I bought the Lexus & wasn't impressed. It had 1/2 the km of the Lexus' km on it yet the suspension / sub-frame bushings were already going. I'm an ex-Product Design engineer & my own analysis has lead me to the conclusion that the Germans c-o-u-l-d match the longevity of Japanese components if they wanted to but they purposely design parts with a set service life to maximise income from service "consumable" parts.
FWIW if I had to choose between German brands I'd buy a VW Golf over a sector equivalent BMW any day. VW's metallurgy & chemistry (i.e. plastic component quality) is just better.
If quality / longevity was my only consideration I'd just buy a Lexus. The thing is I now wouldn't, mainly because I find the new ones (IS series included); so god-damned ugly.
@@geeess2513 Oh I believe you, but it's just an absolute one-off. Modern Alfas aren't regularly "falling apart." They're quite reliable.
I was in love with my Giulia and Alfa Romeo as a brand, however, I will never again buy/recommend another Alfa Romeo in my life. I had the brake by wire system fail on me and it caused me to crash and total the car. They sent someone from Bosch to diagnose the vehicle and in the charts it clearly showed that something malfunctioned (brakes were slammed 2 seconds before the impact at 40 MPH and it took more than 1.5 seconds for the speed to start going down.) Stellantis told me that they were not going to take responsibility for it and that I needed to have my insurance pay for the vehicle. Absolute garbage. I will never recommend this car brand to anyone again! Buy an AUDI, BMW or Mercedes instead.
Stellantis told you, you better shut up and stop writing non sense. we want to see the picture or video. F.Y.
This looks hotter than the Mercedes c 63 or the bmw but the Alfa engine lacks brutality.
@@nessuno5403 the c63 amg s for example has better aerodynamics and a brutal engine.
