The comparison is of copics to his box though. That's what he says in the video, even if the title doesn't really say that. Just that you don't have to spend copic prices, you can still make good art.

@@Skittl1321 I appreciate the notion, and I think its so cool what he's done with the box, but but the title implies he's comparing the markers' performance, and a large portion of the video is spent discussing the markers specifically, until he gets to the drawing and then he brings out the pencils. I truly believe that the 24 markers by themselves are a better value than the copics in every sense, I just thought that the formating of this miniature contest wasn't the cleatest it could be. Still enjoyed the video

@@thetubemz937 $99 for his art box. 24 markers and 24 colored pencils. You'd do much better to buy the Ohuhu, which Jazza even rated as better than the Spectum Noir, 72 brush marker set for $69 and buy the Arteza 48 count colored pencil set, which rates almost as good as Prismacolor pencils, for $18. So for $87 you can get 3 times as many colors of markers from a better brand, twice as many colored pencils, and still have enough money to buy the regular pencils and erasers.

They were so cheap compared to the Letraset/W&N pens that I was using at the time (and WAY cheaper than Copic) that I had to try them out. Copics are significantly cheaper in Japan, about $3-$4 each for Copic Sketch depending on exchange rate. I've bought most of my Copics at this price range. What makes Copics worth it is their durability, my oldest Copic marker is 24 years old. You can refill the ink, change the brush tips. If you ever lose the lid, there are empty markers available. I only ever had one Copic marker that dried out on me, I have a total of 300 of them. Can't say the same thing on other brands. For people on a budget, I always recommend getting the Grey ciao set with 5 markers, then whatever other cheaper brand they prefer for the other colours.

Copies are literally amazing. I used to use them and I found them really, really great to draw with. But as Jazza said, they’re super expensive and as someone who isn’t THAT great at art or RICH, it was a bit too much. I think the comparison between Copic and the Jazza set was really unfair. While I agree Copic are expensive, it feels like the coloring of the Copic piece was much sloppier than the Spectrum Noir, not to mention, adding colored pencil on top of any alcohol marker will make it look more polished, which was not done on the Copic version. Tired of these thinly veiled ads.

I know that kind of defeats the purpose of the video but I started building my copic collection very slowly almost 10 years ago. Since then I've tried quite a few other brands, and what's great about alcohol markers is that you can mix and match them most of the time.
After I started bringing in some Sectrum Noir, local store brands and prismacolour alcohol markers into my collection, I've been very happy with the balance. Copic is amazing for the pastels and getting that exact hue, while having a more affordable alcohol marker to do the big flats of colour before you start blending on top helps you get your money's worth.

I think the lack of being super clear about the fact that you're selling the other brand combined with the fact that this is a videos you've done a couple times before (we know at this point that cheaper alternatives to copic are out there) makes this one feel like a stealthy ad.
Rather then your normal style of "hey this is basically an ad and I know that but look at my art and this is a product I'm genuinely into" this ad felt more like stealthy bashing of the competition while doing art. I think its missing some of your normal passion I guess? I dunno i wish I could nail down exactly what it is that feels different, more scripted or something.

One of the few (possibly only) jazza videos I have ever disliked. Nothing wrong with promoting your own products. Jazza has been doing just that for the past many videos without negative comments. This video however feels disingenuous for multiple reasons. It's not really fair to compare a marker set to a marker and color pencil set. The marker + color pencil has an unfair advantage. I get this video was trying to compare the relative costs between the two but to make that more clear, the cost of the coloring pencil set should have been included in the price breakdowns. Additionally, what's the point of making a comparison video when the artwork is never compared at the end? While I would have preferred a comparison, at least not comparing the two doesn't give either an unfair advantage. People could prefer one over the other just as easily. What I was most disappointed with that ultimately caused me to dislike was that the saturation was increased for the glamor shots of the spectrum noir but not for the copic. That's just absolutely not a fair comparison.

Not that it needs defending, but the price of the entire box is $99.55, so that includes the markers, pencils and also all the other stuff making these markers probably closer to $80 (excluding the presumable discount from buying them with the box).
Other than that yeah it was kinda suspect, I mean obviously despite the sort of click-bait title, the point of the video was to advertise his box and explain how you can use the provided tools to make quality art without the need for expensive Copic sets, and honestly his looked better in my opinion anyways so I’m not really sure why he didn’t do a side by side. Plus he does a saturation increase for his final piece in most videos I feel like so it is definitely weird that the editors didn’t for the Copics, especially when the filter isn’t there for the time lapse anyways so it’s not like it’s fooling anyone into thinking that’s what it actually looks like lol

No shade to Jazza or his artist's collection but i've tried Spectrum Noir before and i have to say, i wasn't all that satisfied. The markers didn't last nearly enough ink-wise as Copics do and in some the nibs frayed almost from the very beginning, and i'm not to abuse my markers in general. There's also the fact that (as far as i know) Spectrum Noir doesn't make refill inks or spare nibs so when the marker is out, it's done, you have to throw it out. Now i know Copics are expensive as hell but you also don't need all of their colours either. I'm sure Spectrum Noir is a fine product for the price it's marketed at and if you're on a budget and just want to try your hand at alcohol markers...by all means, go ahead, it's just not the BETTER product and if you're planning on using markers long term i would suggest saving up some and picking the right colours of Copic Markers to buy and future refills(that fill your marker multiple times btw) rather than keep buying the same colours again and again.

Jazza: "there good but let me SHOW you HOW to use my copic markers "
I'm so glad I follow you cause that's how I thought as a kid was I need expensive things to create good art thanks 👍

I learnt through Karla Magana, who still uses her prismacolour alcohol markers she has had since high school that dried out markers do not mean the pigment has dried but rarther the alcohol has evaporated. I bought rubbing alcohol from my supermarket (isopropryl alcohol) & removing one side tip and with a dropper or pipette drop 2 to 3 millimetres into the barrel and voila you super juicy alcohol marker like the day it was made. I have even done this successfully with copic ciao. Hope that helps ppl on a limited budget avoid sending perfectly usable markers to landfill. Something I don't think manufacturers want us to know. But it works.

You finally wore me down Jazza. I have placed my order for your pro artist's collection. I shall finally give away my Faber Castell Connector Pens . . . These fancy Spectrum Noir had better be good considering I will no longer be able to make the same degree of laser guns or fighter jets with my colouring equipment.

The best way to get inspired before doing my own artwork is watching Jazza produce some masterful traditional art!

i bought an 80 pack of touch5 markers for less than £20 so the prices of markers like copic and spectrum seem stupidly and unjustifiably overpriced

True...i usually draw and coloring with cheap ones...i cant buy something that beyond my Wallet....(Logic)

they are quite overpriced coming from quite an experienced artist, but my god are copics incredible, and id say easily 10x better than touch 5

I bought these and would love more tutorial videos on blending. 👍 Especially skin colors. LoL

I adore Kuratake clean colour brush pens. They're waterbased and blend absolutely amazing on mixed media paper and are soo good if you're someone who can't cope with the smell that alcohol markers have. You can go through alot of them mind you if you're doing big peices but I adore the flesh tones of them as they can blend seamless on good paper. (I occasionally do NSFW commissions and I can definitely say the skin tones blend incredibly well.)
