I grew up with that slicer in my kitchen drawer and yes... Taras handled it weird. It would have worked much better had he pulled it across while holding it perpendicular to the cheese block.

That spiral slicer was awesome! I have the marble and wire cutter, as well as a cheese plane (the last device you demonstrated). The marble and wire is my favorite because the marble stays cool, as every pastry chef knows, and the wire allows you to cut the slices to any thickness you desire. I also have one of those roller/wire cutters, but I rarely use it. Thanks for the video. You are so engaging and entertaining,CRH. Love your dog's and friends, too.

The cheese you use for fondue is pretty important. Certain cheeses melt differently. If you're going to use a basic cheddar like that, you might need to let it melt more than you did, or more likely mix it with a different cheese or other ingredients.

This is the correct answer. The box said it was for fondue, so it should be cheese (usually Gouda, Gruyere and Emmental) and a bit kirsch or white wine.

My parents have pretty much every one of those slicers. My dad agrees with the lever-like wire-cutting one, but they use them all so much, they've pretty much all been destroyed at least once just from use.

Alberto Reyes me too. I've found I can handle aged cheese ok, as the cheese culture eats up the lactose. Young cheese like brie or fresh mozzarella is a no-no. And boy do I miss ice cream....

the last gadget is made for slicing the more compacted cheeses that are harder compared to how wirecutters are better to cut soft cheese..you pretty much find the "spatula" looking one at every norwegian breakfast table

In Switzerland we have something similar to the cup you showed it is called fonedue it is delicious. But it isn’t just cheese its a mixture. For 4 persons you take 800g cheese preferably Emmentaler/Gruyere 1/1 about 3-3,5 dl of withe wine 1or 1,5 shotglases of cherry snaps garlic and sauce binder. Mix it cook it on the stoaf until it’s nice to dip bread in. ( the cheese has the best consistency when a thin layer sticks at the bread) use 600 to 800g of white bread cut into cubes. You have to try that.
