- Girl Who's Never Read the Books Watches PERCY JACKSON & THE OLYMPIANS: THE LIGHTNING THIEF for the FIRST TIME
(movie reaction)
The Percy Jackson show is coming out soon on Disney Plus so to prepare myself, I watched the 2010 film. Going into this movie, I knew very little. I've never read the books so I had no knowledge of the universe of the storyline.

"I wonder if Luke stole the lightning bolt"
"I wanna go here" [to the lotus casino] "I would never leave"
I love how prescient these observations were
When I was editing those parts of the video I was thinking how scarily accurate I was
Especially with the lotus casino line haha
If it makes you feel better, I too watched the film first before reading the book. Now that I've read the books, I can say that these films don't do it justice. But they are my guilty pleasure because they introduced me to the series.
Same I watch the film then read the books and was disappointed but they helped me like Percy Jackson and hate the films
I read all of Percy Jackson as a kid and was just so excited when I found out there was a movie, I loved it so much 😭 had no idea people hated it until recently
Luke being played by the the same actor who played Adam in Supernatural and making the comment about “Daddy Issues”. 😂😂😂
The twelve Olympians are Apollo, Athena, Ares, Aphrodite, Artemis, Demeter, Dionysus, Hera, Hephaestus, Hestia, Hermes, Hades, Poseidon, and Zeus in case anyone is wondering. The reason there are more than 12 is because Hades, Dionysus, and Hestia are often switched out. Hades is not considered one of the twelve by many because he does not live on Olympus, and Dionysus is often left out because of his mortal mother (but Apollo and Artemis's mother was mortal when they were born, so...). I had a huge mythology phase in second grade, so reply if you have any questions.
i know the way they tell some of the mythology in the books aren’t always accurate, but in the last olympian, hestia was saying that she stepped down as an olympian so dionysus wouldn’t get upset? but yeah, i see a lot of different answers to the thing abt hestia, dionysus and hades
@@FlapackandGregsPS5 I think that might just be a Rick thing, but she would probably do that because Hestia's (ironically) very chill. Mythology's so diverse that everyone can pretty much believe what they want.
I'm so glad you are going to be watching the show. It's going to be great. Once the first season is over I would recommend you read the books. I think they'll be right up your alley. You'll love them.
I'd like to read the first book or at least start reading it before episode 1 comes out on Wednesday!
"You're a Demi Percy" scene not found
I defintely remember watching the movie before I read the books as a kid and thinking the movie was fine, but after I read the book sit was impossible to ever enjoy the first movie again. I tried to rewatch it just last month but I only got six minutes in, it was unbearable lol
I’m watching this on half a nights sleep because I was playing bloodstained and couldn’t put it down till the sun came up.
“I really like Luke I hope he shows up more” oh you sweet summer child. We all liked him at first 😔
Wow I forgot how bad this movie was in comparison to the books. When the movie came out I was so excited, but was really disappointed. But now there is one good thing about it: Thanks to this movie I found your chanel and I'm definitly looking forward to your reactions to the show
I'm so excited for the show! I just started reading the first book today and it's VASTLY different than the movie
I've only read The Lightning Thief and Sea of Monsters like once or twice years ago back in middle school and when I saw this movie when it came out I thought this movie was awesome and I thought all the other book fans too but it wasn't until years later when I found out No Oh No the book fans do not like this movie they hate this movie with a passion 😂😂
Honestly I was more into shipping Percy and Annabeth than anything else about the films.
The films have great actors and great visuals. The main thing they suffer from is a script(s) that doesn't do the books enough justice. And they get a lot of key details about Greek mythology completely wrong. Biggest example is Hades and Persephone. Hades is NOT an abusive husband to Persephone. Of the three brothers Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades, Hades is the only one who has his head screwed on correctly and actually takes his job seriously. Yes, he DID technically kidnap Persephone in order to marry her, but he treated her like an absolute GENTLEMAN and actually legit LOVES her, and Persephone didn't take long to fall in love with him in return, because he proved the complete opposite of everything her mother, Demeter, said he would be like. Another thing I harped on in this film was actually the Hydra. What made the middle head special WASN'T that it could breathe fire, but that it would still be alive and trying to kill you even after you chopped it off.
Hi Yasmina, Love your reaction to Percy Jackson The lightning bolt thief my favorite part is Hades 👹
Also Daredevil's birthday was yesterday Charlie Cox 🎂 !!
Welcome your Hades Yes !! Would you prefer that I look like this 🔥🔥🔥🔥👹 uh No no no no no 😂😂😂😂
That's my Fav part of the movie , I was Hades for my school play once .
If you want to learn some mythology from a video game Hades is one of several I’d suggest.
Slightly disappointed that you didn't recognize(or comment about) the actor who plays Luke.
Every time he was on screen I kept thinking in my head "Where do I know him from?"
@@yasminareacts It happens! Especially being so long since you watched the fourth season. On an unrelated note looking forward to the next Supernatural episode reaction.
@@joaopaulodiasfranca472 I’m excited too (especially since it’s the 100th episode)!
PLEASE READ THE BOOKS FOR THE LOVE OF EVERYTHING THATS EVER EXISTED.
Ho yeah the boatman is karron
As a movie, I think it’s good. It’s fun but a terrible adaptation. You love movie Grover but he’s different in the books. I think you will enjoy him in the new show and the book. Don’t know a soul who doesn’t like Grover
I just started reading the first book a couple hours ago! I'm about 9/10 chapters in and I just keep thinking how different the movie is from it
Zues hera hades posidein Athena ares ahpradite hermes hesphestis zagreus
I'm probably the only one who doesn't care about whether the movie is the same as the books, it's an adaptation no shit it's gonna be drastically different than the books. the movies may have their shit moments but if you don't like it tuff shit, rewrite it or somthing IMO it's actually decent
at least in this movie and the fnext movie they cast annabeth better , she is still supposed to be blonde, but at least she is not black like the new tv series same with other characters i prefer these movies to the new series
You watching avatar the way of water
I'll be watching it next month!
No offense but can you please put background music or a noise reducer because your background is so loud
You've made two terrible mistakes.
As an adaptation, the movies are terrible.
The movies dumped on mythology so much.
"But mythical innacuracies are because kids."
There's literally storybooks for kids that know H*d*s isn't evil, and he doesn't screw with anyone.
