    Fantastic review, as usual DA. I am intrigued by the Viltrox's lens map, specifically the 16mm. If the that lens is an auto focus, it would be a must buy for me.

    It is amazing to see how many 24mm primes there are now.Samyang is bringing out a 24/1.8 too. I like the design of the vltrox but not so sure how it would perform on an a7r4 - vis a vis detail. The sigma and tamron have a much closer MFD. That is often the tradeoff with the slower lenses. My feeling is that the optics may not be quite at par with the slower alternatives but it is good to see that they are evolving their line.

    • @DustinAbbottTWI
      @DustinAbbottTWI  Před 3 lety +2

      It's definitely not competitive with the MFD. The upcoming Samyang 24mm F1.8 is a little better in that regard.

    Another great video, i have the Tamron 24mm f2.8 and although I like the lens the f1.8 is certainly much more appealing, how do you think it stands up to the Tamron in terms of image quality? Thanks again for all your great reviews 📷👍🙏

    • @DustinAbbottTWI
      @DustinAbbottTWI  Před 3 lety +1

      The Tamron lens is probably a hair sharper at F2.8, though the Viltrox has nicer autofocus.

    Dear Dustin. Thanks a lot for great In-depth videos on so many lenses. I want to buy 35mm Full Frame equivalent lense for the Sony APS-C. However, I plan to move up to Full Frame itself in a year or two. I want to invest in lenses that will work on the FF Sony when I do buy it. I am looking for budget options. What are my options ? Samyang, Viltrox, Tamron, Sony ??? It will be my only 35mm prime.
    Good AF is priority as I fully intend to use Sony's subject tracking for my toddler running around.
    Thanks.

    @Dustin Abbott Great review as always, I was salivating for the stars and.. Got really disappointed but no uncommon taking into account past reviews of other lenses they already offer where comma and wing shapes were even worse.
    Do you have an ETA for a Samyang 24mm F1.8? I'm pretty sure you have it, and they are heavily marketing it for night photo :D
    Thank you!

    Finally, there is an affordable and compact wide prime for Sony. So far, ageing Sony 28mm F2 was the only option if F2.8/3.5 is just not bright enough. I'm curious how the new Samyang 24mm F1.8 will compare to this Viltrox. I have a lot of Samyang primes (18mm, 45mm and 75mm) and looks like the sharpness of Viltrox is slightly inferior, especially wide open.

    Can you make a video about best water resistant full frame zoom lenses for canon ? This lenses are compatible with R and APSC cameras,so is the best choice if you buy a better camera in the future.I need a good 35mm for portrait because is 55 in apsc and a good zoom for street photography but normally zoom are expensive,I have a 18-135 usm but I need something better and finally I Would like to know if I can use this lenses with other brands in the future,I suppose that I will buy canon RP but I also want something better and is posible to considerate other brands...I just want to invert my money correctly thinking about future 🙏🙏🙏😔😔😔💸🙄

      The short answer is no, I probably won't be able to go back and do a video like that, as I have a long list of reviews stretching out months ahead already. With Canon it is only the L series lenses that have weather sealing, though there are some Tamron zooms that have pretty good weather sealing as well.

    Hello from Kyiv Ukraine. Have you heard about the Tamron announcement for the 150mm to 500mm F5 to 6.7 FE? Will you be doing a review of this lens? I was about to buy the Sigma 100-400mm F5-6.3 DN OS but I will wait to see how the Tamron performs. I like the thought that it is F5 to 6.7 with the extra 100mm reach against the Sigma F5 to 6.3. I already own the 17 to 28, 28 to 75 and 70 to 180. If this new telephoto is as good as the trinity Tamron can take my money.

    Thank you for the Text Review. I do not want "modern" Lenses that needs help from software to "perform", as I see more and more Lens makes do a too fast and too lazy way to produce Lenses because they rely on the software to do the work and that is a bad way to go.
    I hope you can get your hands on the new Voigtländer 35mm 2.0 APO-Lanthar soon for a review :)

    • @acouragefann
      @acouragefann Před 3 lety +2

      Most modern lenses are better corrected for distortions and aberrations (a 9mm full frame rectilinear lens was unthinkable 20 years ago) with moustache distortion being a rarity nowadays - the software integration is an extra. It's not compensating for inferior corrections, it's an asset if you want to bring an already lower-than-average distortion to, for all intents and purposes, zero.
