    Just went from a fox X2 with three spacers to a coil deluxe 350 spring at 175 lb dressed.... Plenty of sag pedals really well far more sensitive in the high-speed chattery stuff. Need to do some further tuning but certainly notice a difference for the positive.

    If you want that Rune to ride more to your liking as far as balance is concerned, try adding some spacers under your stem. It has a relatively low stack it looks like and you have the stem slammed. Raise it up and it'll shift your weight back. Whether that rider compartment suits you is another question, but it's worth a shot!

    If I have to pedal up hill, I'd be inclined to take the discount DW (Maestro) but I bet both are nice downhill. I'd definitely choose an alloy Rune over a carbon Reign for descending, but hard to choose between an aluminum model of either. Threaded BB would likely push me towards the Rune, as I abhor PF.

    • @mtbtelly5522
      @mtbtelly5522  Před rokem +1

      I’m with you on the threaded BB. The rune is over a kilo lighter and seemed to fly up the climb yesterday as well, but the reign has internal storage, and seems to have a more supple suspension design

      For my weight I think this X2 is a bit too harsh on the dampig side. I think you had exactly the same shock on this orange Rune. Maybe I will try this shock once again when it’s warmer again here. But I like my EXT Storia very much too 😊

    Why would you run the HSR all the way closed (2:38)? With the adjustment range on the Kitsuma and that light of a spring that thing os gonna pack down like crazy, which could be the reason for it feeling choppy...

    • @mtbtelly5522
      @mtbtelly5522  Před rokem

      There was way too much force coming from it with it more open and adjusted to suit with lsr. I tried that same shock on the Reign and had to go up a spring rate plus some preload, and open the hsr 4 clicks to get adequate response from the start of the rebound stroke, and altered the lsr to suit obviously.
      I made good progress though with the Super deluxe, quite impressed with the outcome

    • @PatBK
      @PatBK Před rokem

      @@mtbtelly5522 Hmm, that's kinda weird. Have you ever tried getting that "force" under control with the LSR and running the HSR more open? (Which works for me) Here's the thinking behind it: With the HSR adjustment you regulate, at which force the high speed circuit opens up. If you run it fairly closed, HSR only comes in to play, when a lot of force is working against the rebound damping, e.g. deep in the stroke and - and that's the big thought - when the riders weight is not "on" the bike. Because if you're on smoth ground and your weight is on the bike, the springforce is not only working against the rebound damping but also against the rider weight = the HSR-curcuit stays close, since the force in the damping system isn't big enough. So in my opinion, that force that pushes at you is in reallity handled by LSR, while HSR mostly comes in to play, when the shock can rebound freely, e.g. when your rear wheel is not in contact with the ground over bumps and holes and so on. So long story short: In my experience it works best, when you run the HSR fast enough so it opens up even higher up in the strocke with no (let's just call it that) rider weight impact, so over fast chatter, and then use the LSR to get that "force" under control.
      In reallity i do it like that: ride down a set of stairs and open up HSR until it doesn't get any smoother, after that try to get the control out of the LSR. If there is not enough Range on the LSR close the HSR by one click at a time.
      Sorry if that's kinda confusing, I'm normally speking german 😅

    17.5kg stock - woah!! +2kg more than the stock Slash 8 (not that anyone would keep those flimsy B.S. Stock tyres)
    No inserts yet / DD/DH tyres....
    My Slash is just getting the 2yr/5000km full overhaul, new group-set and all.
    Sounds like I really need to try a coil on the back.....
    Have you tried a progressive coil on the Rune? If it's falling off the progression curve deep in the stroke, a progressive coil might hold it up better without the early travel chop??

    • @mtbtelly5522
      @mtbtelly5522  Před rokem +1

      They don’t make a progressive coil soft enough to work on this setup, i’d need a 300-360 ish to make it work. The superdeluxe ended up killer with a better setup
