Dr. Levi Cowan creates videos and blogs pertaining to tropical cyclones, primarily hurricanes in the Atlantic Ocean. Posts occasionally concern other, non-tropical weather events around the world. Dr. Cowan has a Ph.D. in meteorology from Florida State University.
Finally, after days of hyperbole from all the click bait media'ologists, we get the real rundown of truth and facts from the one and only Levi.
You must be following the wrong meteorologists. I know there are particular media outlets that don't believe in science or facts. All the ones I follow are credible and tell it like it is just like our guy here. You might want to reconsider where your weather information comes from, minus this site.

Eh, when even Spectrum News starts to try and pander to sensationalism, you know the news channel weather reporters got bored. Best to either get your data straight from the source or from an indie like Levi.
“Weather men” have been exaggerating the potential of tropical systems ever since Weather Channel had to fill 24 hours with continuous coverage. If you are still falling for that click bait it’s not their fault

Ugh. Just ugh. I have family in the western part of Florida. I have family in central Florida. And I am roughly in the middle. Could be any of us at this point. I hope things become clearer soon. Worst case scenario is getting a last minute hurricane because people had no idea where it would be going.

interesting - gfs was correct what I saw few days ago ...crazy but it could happen. I was hoping SWFL was safe from this possible "TS Debby" or hurricane. I see it could hit tampa ft myers then panhandle then stall? Not liking this at all ...the stall reminds me of IAN. Having flashbacks from IAN our front street a raging river 3ft and saw cars floating or stuck not good feeling. We will hope by tomorrow you will have more concrete info. Thanks
I really doubt wind or surge will be much of an issue. This is a common storm in the first half of the season. Often becoming one of the 'donut' storms. A big circle of heavy rain with no powerful eye. Highest risks end up being inland and river flooding because the donut sits for days, or slowly meanders around with perhaps half a dozen landfalls but no significant wind above 50-60mph.
I don’t always look forward to hurricanes but when I do, I like to look forward with you, Levi! Always appreciate your knowledge and insight on these storms!

I was waiting for your thoughts
This is one of those nightmare scenarios for emergency mgt...nobody will know anything until there's barely any time to prepare, that is if anything significant develops in the ne gulf. The tropical storm named Debby did this in 2012. I recorded 26.5 inches of rain between St. Marks and Crawfordville. Even with all that rain, there was very little flood damage here. I am not concerned.

I had to cancel my trip to Daytona Beach
As is usual, I have been waiting with baited breath for Doc Cowan to report on yet another GOM storm threat. If named it would be Debby perhaps. Very worrisome that the ensembles show so much divergence and disparity as to what happens when/if it stalls just offshore, especially with the warmest SST's in this hemisphere at the moment. I expect that once the true center of circulation appears we will have a better sense of how strong, how long, how much rain and where etc. which are the most important things to be concerned with.
