  • Is 190k enough to cover the cost of living in the Philippines? Well, that will depend on how much you plan to spend each month during retirement. So I've included calculations for both a low budget and a high budget while living in the Philippines. Enjoy! :)
As always, THANK YOU for your support and love. We wish you all the absolute BEST with building wealth and enjoying retirement.
    ABOUT US
Greetings from the Biesingers! We are so happy you are here! We are a family of four sharing our financial freedom (FIRE) journey, including tips on how to build wealth, retire early, and retire abroad.
At age 21, we purchased our first real estate property and then became first-time landlords at age 22 as college students. We worked extremely hard to pay off my student debt. Doing so helped me graduate with my MBA completely student-debt-free!
We have other diversified investments and are excited to share more with you in our channel. We have now hit Coast FIRE which allowed us to move abroad and semi-retire in Asia!

When I go over there in 2.5 years, I'll have a $2500 a month Soc Sec payment, and 500k in savings. I plan to budget $3,000 a month and live a very comfortable life on a beautiful beach somewhere. Premium health insurance, maid, nice motorcycle, etc. I seriously doubt I'll even be ABLE to spend 3k a month, but in the months I don't, I'll just leave my savings alone and live off of SS for that month.

Retire in the Philippines. Live like a king on $2,000/mo budget.
I know many Filipino-Americans who retired in the Philippines on their Social Security check ONLY...

I wish you best of luck in your journey and hope that you have a backup plan. I live in expensive Singapore and had 30 years of expenses saved up before I even considered FIRE at 45...

Thanks so much! We have not hit full FIRE yet but are working towards it. 😊 That’s smart to have 30 years saved up first. We loved our visit to Singapore by the way, just expensive like you said. 😆

That is some really flawed thinking. Market returns are not static, you go through 2-3 years of negative returns while having to pull money out to live and you are in big trouble.

$190K will fall fast when the medical bills pile up or if someone gets cancer. You are basically broke with just that amount.

I personally would add least 50% to be more safe, but again it will depend on lifestyle and location. 😊

Our problem staying in the US will be the Rents and Healthcare. Its too expensive. We have no choice, even as a US wartime Veteran we will have to leave the US.

yes its true for people who did not plan their future, but the young people i really feel sorry for. My father was WWii, Nam, and Korean conflict. He retired from the Navy after 30 yrs, then got a govt job. He bought a house in 1956 in cali, he passed away but he had everything he needed because he planned his future. Most of the foreigners in the PI did not plan future, they enjoyed when they were younger. Now they are paying the price, wish u luck
