- Hydration and electrolyte intake can be a tricky thing to master, especially if you're running a long way in hot conditions. I can definitely say I've got it completely wrong several times and had some pretty bad experiences because of it. So, when the guys from Precision Fuel and Hydration contacted me when we were away in Chamonix and asked if I'd like to have a sweat test done, I jumped at the chance. The test was well worth doing and the results were quite shocking but I gained so much knowledge that's going to really help me in the future when it comes to my hydration and electrolytes.
Thanks for watching, we'll see you in the next video and as always - stay safe and keep on running!

Thanks Loyd, this was largely new to me and certainly somethings to think about and some testing to be done over the coming months. Another excellent video :)
Very interesting stuff. Thank you for sharing Lloyd 👍
Hey Loyd.
Really rate pfh, not just for their products but also the support they offer 👊🏻
Helpful and interesting, thanks Lloyd. I cramped badly in my last 50km race and my maroon top was covered in salt by the end. This has me intrigued now so I might try and have a sweat test done before my 100km in a few weeks! Thanks 🤙
Great video mate, never thought of jumping on the scales before and after a run. Will definitely be doing that because i sweat A LOT!! Always use P&H tabs and like yourself, sometimes i get it right, and sometimes i dont.
Thank you for this video. Very informative.
No problem, thanks for watching 🙏
Really interesting video, thanks for sharing Loyd.
No problem, glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching 🙏
Really interesting video Loyd thanks for sharing 👍
No problem, glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching 🙏
Fascinating, thanks Loyd! Like alot of other runners, I've always struggled with getting my hydration right especially during those longer runs/races, will definitely take a look!
No problem Becky, I'm glad the video was helpful 👍
Thanks for watching and supporting the channel 🙏
Loved this Video. Fascinating!!! top notch content. 👏👏
That's great Mark, I'm really glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching 🙏😊
Fantastic video loyd. I’ve only been running a year. I have signed up to my first 100k next year. I used to play a lot of football and rugby and was always the sweatiest, I always noticed salt marks. This is such a valuable video. Absolute legend mate.
That's great to hear! I'm glad you found it helpful and best of luck with your 100k 🙏😊
Cheers Loyd. Love the shoe reviews, gear reviews, race documentaries etc - but this was something I’ve never seen before and found it fascinating. Salty sweater here as well and often feel quite hungover after a hard run - very rarely pre-load, but will make a point of doing it now.
Thanks Stuart, I'm really glad you're enjoying the channel and you found this video helpful 🙏😊
Great video mate.. learned lots.
That's great, glad it was helpful and thanks for watching 🙏😊
Precision have some of the best nutrition products out there IMO and the team seem rock solid people too. Nice vid!
I couldn't agree more! Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching 🙏😊
Fantastic video,I love the science of hydration… fascinating.
It sure is fascinating Tony and hopefully I'll be able to manage it a lot better now I've got a plan 👍
Hope you and the family are fit and well 😊
My understanding is that if we have more salt in out system we sweat more out. Out bodies are fantastic at self regulation in this area...even though there's a lot of marketing that wants you to believe otherwise
I not sure that is the case Debra 🤔It would be worth watching the videos because the guys explain it really well and it makes a lot of sense 👍
Interesting test. Good job, Loyd. Here is my Like. A nice friday for everyone. ⛰️🏃🌞
Thanks Loyd, this video confirms my choice for my hydration brand. I knew them since a few years, now that I am into ultra distances, I needed a better hydration plan and they are experienced. Let me tell that I worked with these sweat sensors and in a couple of years, smart sports watches will have these integrated so you can get an on-the-fly hydration recommendation during an activity
That would be amazing to have a similar feature in a running watch! Hope you and the family are fit and well mate, thanks for watching 🙏😊
Really interesting Loyd, thanks for that. I was listening to Andy being interviewed by Tristan and Jay a while back. I'm keen to try some PH stuff. I noticed on your Arc film that you started using their stuff and were recording it. Had you been using that for long before the race?
I'm glad you found the video interesting Ian. I was using there products a couple of months before the Arc and I'll definitely be using them in the race next year. The guys at PF&H are super helpful, I would recommend getting in touch with them and having a chat 👍
Cheers Loyd, will do. ACC is this coming weekend, if you fancy an ice cream run? 😂
@@ianl4518 Awesome mate! I'll try and get out to see you on the last day 👍
Thanks for this vid, Loyd. I sweat buckets and always have salt crystals on my top and race pack, especially after a long run. I'm sure it's why I suffer from bad cramps (fell over on the Serpents Trail 50k this year and couldn't get up 😂). Will give Precision Fuel a go 👍
No problem, I'm glad you found the video helpful. It's great product and the guys are really helpful, might be worth going through the sweat test if possible. Thank for watching 🙏😊
great idea to pre load with an electrolyte drink the evening before and at breakfast
💙🌱💙
I did this test at tamar performance lifton. I found that I lose 1228mg per litre of sweat. Safe to say that I wasn’t using enough salt in my nutrition.
Not enough caps worn backwards in this vid, sorry to say 🤷🏻♂️
I actually thought that while I was editing the video 😂🧢
the annoying music swamping what is being said. Why put that in?
Interesting although I think its all marketing. I did a precision sweat test and took "extra" salts and made me feel worse and all my clothes went white eg sweating out all the salt. It made no difference to my cramps which to me is more exercise associated muscle cramps (EAMC) then lack of salt. And only my calfs cramp and not whole body if you were salt deficient. Really on the fence with all the products available. Just my view.
Im not sure its just marketing, hydration is super tough to get right on the day because there's so many variables involved. Even when you've had the test and you've got a plan it can still go wrong! I totally agree and so would PF&H, cramping can be caused by fatigue as well and it's not just about hydration 👍
@@Run4Adventure thanks for taking time to reply. Yes agree, it’s very individual.
