Hi Hamish and the Celtic mob, I am amazed at the job the Ghirls have done and to nearly WIN the title was phenomenal. They are a credit to the club and the coaching staff! I'm so looking forward to next season. Hail Hail Glasgow Celtic
I don't like dropping points but our job is done with the league. Hopefully a win, lift the trophy and then game on for the Scottish cup.
People are diving too deep in to the last 2 results…
Ange can say we coped without ccv when he was injured during C/L, maybe that was because we had a decent replacement in big Jenz. He was far to quick to let him go as Kobayashi needed time to adapt to our league.
Thanks Hamish . I agree that as long as we win at Hampden we can tolerate a few poor results but nevertheless there are concerns about certain positions. Reinforcements are needed for CL and ensuring we continue to dominate the league 💪👊🍀💚☘
My fear is that the teams legs have gone. The high intensity training and matchdays have to take their toll over a long season. I think thats why crucial players who are first picks every week arent performing anywhere close to what they can do - theyve run out of gas.
Throughout the season A.P. has rotated some players to try not to overload them, but there are five or six essential players who we rely on as the spine of the team - and who start more-or-less every game.
I'm not sure how much theyve got left to give. You'd hope that they'll have one last charge in them for the cup final, but this Celtic squad is the hardest working team in the SPL, by a mile - and while the spirit may be willing, theres only so much a human body can do.
We need to buy players in the summer so that people like CCV and Hatate and Calmac, Kyogo, Taylor and Johnson etc can be rested now and then without disrupting the team's quality.
We still have a long list of players on the books - people who arent youngsters any more who you couldnt conceive of wearing the jersey as regulars.
I think someone needs to be ruthless about who is worth keeping and who needs to be moved along.
Rely on the same half dozen or so to be the backbone next year and we can look forward to long injury lists and a ton of hard luck stories - and a team that is losing its way.
Wrong comments... Glasgow Woman deserved the league...well done the Ghirls ☘️⚽🍀
CCV is this teams current best player and foundation for success. Without him at the back we look so ordinary. They need to upgrade his contract so he stays a couple more years otherwise his going to the EPL or a bigger league. Calmac is not our most important player as so many Folk like to claim lol
Top job. Top info. I like the plain mug. Can see me having my sixteen morning coffees in that! Where's John been lately? Need to get him back on.
Hamish is right ...job was done no need to worry about recent performances. Give the guys that come in a break , nothing to lose if we lose
We never stop until we have won the league is good enough for us all xx
I don't get it. Yes the job is done but we are Celtic! I want us to play great football until the end of the season. Shit performances are NOT OK!
For a team who never stops, they never really started. Captain McGregor should be calling out the poor performers and making changes at half time, he is on the field and can see who is slacking
_We never stop, but once we do, it's down tools until next season._
*- Poste-GOD-Lou*
Welch to start! Kids way too good to be sitting on the bench, he needs a game
It's worry without ccv player of the year 💚🍀🍀🍀
Hamish, this whole rhetoric about an expected drop off after winning the league is nonsense. There should be no reason for any performance drop off. Ange specifically stated he trains the team to finish stringer than they started. The core of the team was still present and yet against Hearts we weren't in the game till the sending off, and that has unfortunately bled into eveey other performance. When I'm ready to go on holiday I don't get a free pass from my job and my performance expectations are the same. You have hungry players desperate to break into the 1st team and that should be enough motivation to perform on the day. I think this perhaps highlights the drop in quality we have and our bench is not as strong as we perceived.
Our levels have indeed dipped since sealing the title but I think we need a bit of perspective here.
Since the top 6 split was introduced, Celtic have sealed the title prior to the split on 6 occasions. In those 6 seasons our post-split results were
2001: W3 D0 L2 (9/15pts)
2004: W2 D2 L1 (8/15pts)
2006: W1 D3 L1 (6/15pts)
2012: W4 D0 L1 (12/15pts)
2014: W3 D2 L0 (11/15pts)
2017: W5 D0 L0 (15/15pts)
In the 21st century we've won the league 17 times. Our record in our next two league games after sealing the title is as follows:
2001: Win, Win
2002: Win, Draw
2004: Loss, Draw
2006: Win, Draw
2007: Loss, Loss
2008: N/A (league was only won on the last match day)
2012: Win, Win
2013: Loss, Draw
2014: Draw, Win
2015: Win, Draw
2016: Loss, Win
2017: Draw, Win
2018: Win, Draw
2019: Loss, Win
2020: N/A
2022: Win, N/A (League was only won on the 2nd last match day)
2023: Loss, Draw
So looking at that, it's clear to see that dropping points after the title has been secured has been a fairly regular occurrence over the last 20 odd years. It's ok to criticise bad performances but let's not go too OTT with it because footballers are human beings and as someone else mentioned "Even Usain Bolt slows down once he's crossed the finish line"
The only issue for me now is that we've a cup final coming up and we need to play ourselves back into a bit of form heading into it.
(The above also highlights just what a phenomenal performance the invincibles put in back in 2017 to keep on going even when the league was won. I think the way Rodgers left us has meant that they don't really get the praise they deserve for such an impressive feat)
Good observations. None of it will help however in the coming 'Massacres League' games. Plus, most fans would realise it was natural to have dips, but Ange says, _We never stop._ He is his own worst enemy.
@@davidbrisbane7206 lol he's about to win a treble pal. He's not stopped.
@@wilbomc3522
By his *own* standards, his team has stopped.
@@wilbomc3522Ange won't stop but when you are working, do you get to slack off before you go on holiday? These guys are millionaires leading a charmed life and I am surprised how far, performance wise, we have fallen. I think its could be a perfect storm of a weaker bench than we thought and switching off. It's the switching off that is unacceptable.
Jurgen Klopp was complaining about the time wasting from Aston Villa. Radio five live described Nottingham Forest 's football v Arsenal as football from a past age. In Scotland anti football is often praised. Thank goodness for our team! 🍀
Mrs Stein would be proud of the Celtic Women.
We stopped, ok it was after the finish line😂. long season for bhoys but need a upgrade in a few departments as CL is a huge jump.
CCV and AJ missing to big misses 🤔🇮🇪🍀
I still think the SPFL could do so much more in terms of promoting the competition. Have Celtic n Gers play a match for points at Wembley stadium; Celtic and Hibs at Croke Park (GAA permission required) A bit radical but may work in raising the profile of comp
Listen, the team can't revolve around one man, unless that man is Lionel Messi.
Give them away in a competition Hamish?
Kayo dropping Bien sports in Australia so no SPL next season unless another service picks it up. Grrrrr!
CCV is the most important player along with Macgregor! The Stats don’t lie! He’s the best defender in the league by a mile😁🍀
CCV yeah McGregor no. When calmac was injured earlier there was no drop off and O'Riley played the role just as well. We don't have that with the CB position.
we do fine without cal, its ccv and kyogoat we cant replace
We didn’t have CCV against Hearts
Drop of happens but to drop 4 points yes the old frim fc have tain an upswing but to no have st mirren inde rout boot shows just how much wee need to getbsome decent physical players for europe coz if we cant do it against mid table spfl teams were gonna get stomped in europe and we need another keeper
I think Anthony Ralston is a decent cover at right back but Bernabei for me just doesn't look good enough. I would give Yuki Kobayashi a bit more time. Sadly I think Greg Taylor also needs to be regarded as needing replaced. He has played out of his socks domestically but I think he can be exploited by Europe's best.
Never wanted Eddie Howe. Never understood the Howe mania.
We can’t afford a upgrade for Hart , maybe a replacement down the road
Why not
We have 50 Million at least in bank add any player sales we make, sell on fees and another C/L campaign and we can't afford a top quality keeper absolute nonsense.
Joe Hart is not good enough
I can’t rember the last time he made a save 😂
I agree
Yes, we should get De Gea
Skip to 8.09,white noise until then.🍀
Big Joe is just not good enough unfortunately
What happened to we never stop 😮🤔🤷🇮🇪🍀
I bet you this segment sound like a good idea when you thought about doing it
Sky are too busy pushing English women's games to bother with us up here 🤔🤷🇮🇪🍀 HAIL HAIL
Your stat graph is meaningless as Celtic huv played very few games without CCV the two stat columns huv far too big ah difference in game numbers
Omg thank ghod you're not working at Celtic Pk. How many shots on target against us and how many goals all season? Nuff said.
I think ye will find Celtic have dipped well before winning the league.
Since Mooys injury.
If ccv wasn't there we would have lost the league
Really don’t care about the women’s team
No interest in women's football lesbians & the politically correct love it. I would rather go thru my old work emails than watch it.
Wonder if we'll see any woMEN in the team. Why not, other sports allow it. Maybe they'd have won the league 😁
Hamish ange hasnt got a defence,, tae pick to me hes asking fur a lucky and doin thie hes had 2blibs,, as he depended on c, c, v, and a, j, and he doesnt want to say it hamish,, bottom line ange or is the jury out fur you ange,, haha,,
We dropped off because the fraud knew he was going to spurs
