For the Westerner, is there a book that is easily understood. In other words, we teach English to kids with nursery rhymes, and we teach religion to children via Sunday school. That's been my experience. So, though I am very familiar with metaphysical thought, I don't want to cloud my understanding as I am not emmersed culturally to Advaitic path. But this sounds similar to The Ethics. I want to compare these ideas with that of a 17th century philosopher.

Vedic aka Hindu system is absolutely related to human existence and its relation to cosmos and nature. Everything is about "seeking" and trying to understand oneself and creation through various means. Different aspects of life has been symbolically represented to help individuals focus and influence their state of mind as mind is where everything happens. Every vedic texts including some of Tamil ( South India) texts discusses everything from so called modern science to medicine to clear understanding of cosmos and universe. That is the beauty of this sytem. It is not a "religion" or a "belief" system like the our Abrahmic faiths which all boils down to a structured cult and control (by using word or sword to increase the cult members.). One seeks and chooses his or her path for self realization. A country and people who are SO TOLERANT after losing 50% of their land and grabbing and destruction of their temple and Engineering marvels to abrahmic invaders. India is the source of cosmic knowledge for this humanity. There was a reason why Indians were DENIED study of Sanskrit while the invading British opened a center of Sanskrit research in Oxford and got themselves trained in this language.

So if I may ask, I'm keen to know more about the reasons why Indians were denied the opportunity to study Sanskrit?... I have my own sort of understanding of it... And that, well I basically got from certain things that I have come across through my researching about Vedantha.... But I'm not sure if it is what it is or not...
Hence my intrigue after reading the end of your comment

@@ugenmoodley7772 Yes. I probably used the wrong word. The education system was replaced with our western education and indigenous language was demeaned so that an average Indian starts to feel inferior about his own culture and heritage. Today 95% of Indian do not know Sanskrit, I hear that there are folks, especially from non Hindu faiths who vehemently object to Sanskrit language, even to study as a second language. The irony is that East India Company holds the patents to most Sanskrit scientific manuals. London has most of the original Sanskrit texts on Astronomy and various subjects that they stole during their colonial rule of India. India was their "crown jewel." Cultural invasion and destruction in all fronts.

If you do sadhana (meditation) and use a mantra, it must be in Sanskrit, to resonate with the sounds of the (ethereal) body.

As an Indian I feel both proud of such a rich heritage and also sad that this richness was stolen/buried from us...so much so that we never learned this from our history textbooks. Thank you for literally re-writing the history of India to bring awareness to the world! I have a question about sea routes for ancient trade between India and Rome. In the days prior to the Suez Canal, these ships would have to take a VERY long route of going around Africa to connect India to Europe...In this case it seems unlikely that as many as 150 ships went back and forth between India and Rome...Is there any evidence to suggest this many ships travelled?

Many visitors visited him with respect and to get their doubt cleared by him. -
Once a group of ' Havard research students on Vedic studies visited him to clear their doubts.
Sankaracharya summone some of the students studying different Vedas - " Rig,Yajur,Sama, Atherva (Athervana) vedas
After enquiring each ones name, cultural and ethical back ground ,
He was adressing their doubts and the studnts were keenly discussing and taking notes. While the Vedic stuendts aided Sankaracharya by chanting the sthothras from different vedas - each veda has different style of chanting.
Suddenly Sankaracharya pointed to a Jewish student
enquired about his childhood, boyhood etc and asked the prayer they did in their family. The boy rendered it. and then acharya asked the vedic students to chant a sloka akin to the one chanted by the Jew.
It was a slok from Rigveda.. This is for your information Vedic culture was vast from Arabia( vedic time name was different) to Indo china to sindhu ,Ganga, Brahmaputra basin and beyond
