Sanatan Dharma is " righteous way of life", doing one's duty as per stage, state and stature in life, living harmoniously not only with fellow human beings but also with flora and fauna.
Tamil word Aram ( and it being used in Hebrew language - elevated beings)
There is no synonym of Dharma in Arabic and English.
    Dharma is NOT religion
Religion is not even antonym of Dharma. It is worse than that. Antonym of dharma is Adharma. Religion is Kudharma (everything that is opposite of Dharma is Kudharma. Adharma is one act or a set of acts that are not as per Dharma. But Kudharma is "intolerant, violent, judgmental, "Us versus Them" divisive tribal clustering. Religion is institutionalizing tribal thinking. It is hyper-tribalism, grand show of "Divisive manipulative mechanism"
In Dharma there is absolutely no pre-requisite of faith in figment character created by tribesmen called God, Allah , YHWH. The God , they say, created man in his (!) Own Image. Any rational person will within seconds realise that it were tribesman who created Mr. God/Mr. Allah ( persona) in tribesmen's own Image (same bipolar personality- love for fellow tribesmen, jealous of other gods { presumably gods of other tribes, similar to Kuldevtas} and vengeful of non-believers; base instinct and physiological needs - power, women, slaves, luxuries- what a primitive man could think of were promised to the followers in heaven ( another fiction). The non members of exclusive club ( tribal cult/syndicate/gang aka mazhab) were destined to hell, not worth living on earth and after life as well rotting in hell. One fictional jumble-rumble book is spiced with love and promise of heaven for believers (lo and behold 7-floor zannat, more bigot one is higher level of zannat he goes), and of course full of fear, hate, judging and branding of "Others" (Ever heard the words pagans, kafirs, apostates, heretics?)
The central character of the bungle book, writer, director, choreographer..... is put on a high tribal pedestal with utterances, qualities and deeds (if presented truthfully) to today's class 10 students, they will find them repugnant.
There is no religion called Hinduism.
Hindu is a nationality (word ascribed to inhabitants of Bharatvarsh as is British, Arabs, Americans and so on).
Hindus followed "Aram" "Dharma" and complete living order. Dharma is not even spirituality ( in religious definition of spirituality).
The regressive invaders, barbarians brought religions to India. Indians ( Hindus, Bharatvashis, inhabitants of Bharatvarsh) were manipulated and downgraded to their (invaders intruders) levels of so-called spirituality and faith ("Us versus Them", divisive man-made god, divisive bungle-book, divisive self-appointed and mafia-anointed mortal Emissary/Nabi/Prophet/Rasul/Headman/gang leader).
Hindus also fell for it, by constant brainwashing, coupled with carrot and stick (sword, canon and bullet) policy of the invaders and their cohorts ( missionaries).
Hindus also got into cult practices of proselytizing (questioning the wisdom of the creation and downgrading the humans to tribal syndicate mindset) evangelism and have produced hundreds of thousands of godmen/babas/pseudo gurus who used our Traditions, Values, accumulated wisdom and moved on the same path as of religionists ( tribal thuggy- कबीलियतठगपंथी) and we see many praying these lowlife modern day godmen, making temples for them, forwarding their pictures with plagiarized treasure ( wise writings, sayings of our wisemen, rishis, munis, deities)
Hindus respect their forefathers and ideal incarnated souls (deities).
They look forward to relate and get energy, stimulus, inspiration , motivation, prerana ( प्रेरणा) from deities as per demand and requirement of the situation one finds or is in. Deities are real and not figments ( not characters of a bungle-holypolly supernal novel).
Those who believe in Brahman ( Energy source, Universal Consciousness, impersonal Source....) are free to worship communicate, relate in any form or no form.... But do not force others to CONVERT to their beliefs, do not brand others Kafirs/ "Others", do not profess monopoly over 7-floor zannat, do not dish out passes to Heaven, do not push "others"to dozakh.. They pray for love, peace, comfort of all, their deity is caring, loving respecting Guide. He or She or It is not a bookkeeper of sins and proselytized deeds of mortals. There is no middleman to take them to heaven. Their life's core is righteousness of MANSA, VACHNA and KARMA.
Rise Hindus above religion. Revert to Righteousness, Dharma.
Speak up against and be role models for caste-free, discrimination-fee, religion-free societies and the world.
This is Hindutva. ( The inclusive core of the mansa vachna karma Dharma)
To be a righteous one ( Dharmicjan) one does not have to leave one gang and join another gang. It is abdicating malice divisive regressive mindset and reverting/reinforcing/practising righteousness by Mansa Vachna and Karma

I didn't knew about what you say, but I knew that religions are tribal phenomena, but you don't realize that you are doing the same: tribalazing. Noticing how you have written it, is the same: us vs the others.
IF you were more objective you would realize that this is something natural, is not a plan, and everyone has made it, and if that happens naturally is because it's a natural behavior with natural needs, and the path is personal, because you can make a "religion" or however you name it, about the perfect philosophy and people inevitably will fall in tribalism, si at the end is not about the philosophy by itself but a personal enlightenment that is very arduous.

@@codniggh1139 Solid point and a fair critique of the original comment. Language is rather nuanced and can be difficult to put forth certain philosophies forward without sounding tribalistic. That is not the nature of dharma and nor do I believe was the intent of the original commenter. Everything is fairly criticised just like everything is fairly praised; both are equally important for collective progress and human enlightenment, which is the true way of dharma. Thank you!

All true, but sadly when I have said I'm part of Sanatana Dharma I'm looked at oddly. I'm asked if I'm in a cult. How many folks are in it. And, other foolish questions. I say its one of the largest religions in the world. I've literally had someone laugh at me, and say I'm making that up. I'm not different than someone who says they believe in the Paperclip God. When I say Hindu then I get talk on yoga, Ganesha, and whatever. Sometimes its easier to say Hindu, as that has become so culturally ingrained and is established as a thing, then try to tell someone that its not a thing, not a religion. Forget trying to explain to someone that Sanatana Dharma is not a religion. ...... So, Hinduism might not be a thing, but it culturally is recognized as a very legit thing. While here in America, we have the legal issue. ISKCON always was Sanatana Dharma. Swami Prabhupada said not to use "Hindu." He said it over and over not to use that word, as its not a thing. Yet, when ISKCON went to court for kidnapping in the late 1970's the lawyers took great pains to show that ISKCON was a legit Hindu religion, going back hundreds and thousands of years, not a new age cult, not Sanatana Dharma or anything else. They didn't follow Swamiji's advice to show they were Sanatana Dharma, as that would have hit some break walls. Americans know Hindu, not Sanatana Dharma, so how do you convince folks you're part of the oldest religion in the world and the oldest religion goes by the wrong name and is really something different, and what they know as that name isn't real, while your 'oldest religion in the world' isn't actually a religion .... yet you're not new age or modern or anything? Given HIndu is seen as legit by the U.S. Supreme Court and meets the conditions of a religion, which gets special understanding in light of the law. If you say you're Sanatana Dharma, and that is not a religion, the law changes suddenly. Actually, if ISKCON is not a religion they would then have to start paying taxes, and could be investigated for fraud, etc. So, overnight ISKCON became Hindu. Today many in ISKCON say Hindu, many say they're not. But, legally, they are and Hinduism IS A religion. If its not real, then the law falls apart for it, and if Sanatana Dharma is not a religion you condemn every Indian temple in America to paying taxes. So, really, its not clear cut always.

@@hinduismwithpremananddasbhagat Nothing in life is easy and taking the easier way out to stick with status quo is more damaging than anything else. Dharma clearly means to protect the truth and stand by the facts so as to gain collective liberation. It is the karma of ISKCON to have not followed Swamiji’s advice and it is now suffering those consequences of greedy lawyers who ran hither and thither to protect a false ideology. As a person of Dharma, it is time we follow the path of truth and stay on course so that the damage doesn’t worsen. We must keep calling it as Dharma or Sanatani and eventually, the truth shall ultimately prevail thereby freeing ISKCON of the burden of that karma ergo liberating the collective consciousness. It will take time and patience, and we must be prepared for all the twists and turns until the truth is understood. 🙏

Just last night - one was reading a whole debate about an ISKON chap and another few devotees of some Hindu gods and goddesses.
News of Lord Krishna and Shiva and Durga and others also contributed.
It became quite intense and then some ideas were revealed. It is said by many experts - Indian and international - that Hinduism is not really a religion. It is a collection of many thinkers etc. - let us call it Hindu ethics.
So much time - devotion and research - has come together - as a treasure for those - who would study it.
Having worked for 42 years - in Raja Yoga meditation - one has singularly simplified - the central link - of aspirant and Guru and that is quite sufficient - for me. It is the mystic - path of love.
It does not deny the vast body - of Hindu learning - from the ethics and sciences and personalities concerned. All have their capacity and worth.
May we find the essence - of all this revelation - and may our hearts be fully Divinised - and may we share this - with all beings.
This is the work that is before us and it is of eternal verity. May it be so.
    Fare thee well

We DO NOT have gods in Dharma. Sanatana Dharma is a godless civilization. We have Atman, Paramatman, Bhagawan, Brahman, Devi, Deva/Devata, Kinnara, Shakti, Rishi/Rishika, Maharishi, Yati, Yogi/Yogini, Mahayogi, Guru, Mahaguru, Pandit, Raja, Maharaja, Chakravarti, Mantri/MahaMantri, Jotishi, Vidushi, Vidwan, Visharada, Tantrika, Rakshasa, Pishacha...and so on. Brahma, Vishnu, Maheshwara are exactly what they are....Brahma, Vishnu & Maheshwara! They are not god(s). The moment we term them as gods, we lost the truth. 🙏💗🙏💗 Let us replace the christian vocabulary we have been brainwashed with for so long & start using the VERY Dharmic words to describe the divine! 🙏💗🙏💗

Ancient vedas clarify God is residing inside you. You are the God. God has nothing to do with your material life or body. No other person can pray for you. God listens to the person who always recite " hare Rama Hare Krishna" and the more you involve in reciting, more peace of mind for you. You have to perform work, for your material/ physical needs. God is solace for your mind, not body or material life. There is concept of " prayer " It is only listening, reading or reciting his name that gives you mental happiness. Your suffering is duebtomthe bad deeds in this birth or previous birth. Keep working hard, more efforts will get you results. Laziness lethargy is sin. Vedas advise you to live according to science. Enroll for social security and take medicine, proper food and recite his names with full dedication. You are the God, the supreme power. You can do it since you are the God / god resides inside you. Mental happiness is more important. As age catches up, physical health will deteriorate. That is the law of Nature . You can experience heaven in your mind in adverse physical/ material circumstances. Practice more more of reciting his name. No prayer. God knows what you need so don't pray. Don't also say" please pray for me" . You can't delegate your duty withGod to another person

How about terms like Ishvara & Brahman? Btw, interestingly, even the Semitic languages have this property of being very mathematical & logical in nature, and consisting of roots with meanings that are then morphed into different forms depending on the context & usage etc. It would seem all the languages that became mediums for receiving authentic revelation had these qualities, they had to have matured to a point where almost every word was capable of storing a veritable treasure trove of meaning, to fulfil the function of carrying revelation which tends to be perplexing telegraphic.

Re: the comment. I use the word decolonization all the time. I've been called out for it, but I think 1. its time to take back the word, and 2. we need to do this. I've been called a racist woke progressive who paints things as a racist by using this word. I've said no! I got the word from Indians on a Hindu forum on FB. While it has nothing to do with race, but everything to do with getting rid of the Christian influence. Stop using god, heaven, hell, angels, and all these Christian terms. They have precise meanings. To say Hindus go to Heaven! Well, that denies reincarnation, while there's many places we can go after death. The Upanishads detail this, the Srimad Bh details this. Not just this heaven as described .... by a different religion. So, to say heaven (I could use other words, but this is a convenient example) gives the wrong impression. I read one blog that said, since both Hinduism and Christianity have a heaven, they must be the same heaven, therefore Jesus is an avatar and all roads point to him, and that the Bible is the current day Vedas, and we should thus all become christians. Ugh! Let's bring back the old words! Let's de-colonize! And, race has nothing to do with it. Also, I deliberately used the word Hinduism here. So many correct me and say Sanatana Dharma. (Though I know so many Americans who don't know that word, so sometimes Hinduism is the better word). Yet, those folks don't correct me when I say heaven, angels, etc. Nah, let's say Sanatana Dharma. Let's say Bharat. And, lets use some more sanskrit.

I declined due to my pre existing health conditions (Lupus) and (heart disease) I’ve been struggling to pay bills and keep food on the table since. I’m so ashamed of my situation. I’ve been mocked and laughed at because of my circumstances. It hasn’t been easy especially as a single mother with two autistic sons both are non verbal. My husband passed away years ago. I’m all alone. I’m sick of struggling and feeling like a burden. I’m sick of crying out asking for help. My cries go on deaf ears. I want to give up on life. But my faith in God is too strong. I still have faith God will change my living situation. Even though I’m facing homelessness this month with two young children. I will continue to keep FAITH. FAITH OVER FEAR!

There is no concept of " prayer " It is only listening, reading or reciting his name that gives you mental happiness. Your suffering is due to the bad bad deeds in this birth or previous birth. No prayer. God knows what you need

I follow Hinduism more influenced "Vaishnav" thoughts ...For me, God is not to hurt anyone and use whatever is necessary, I worship animals and trees

I am sorry but the etymological origin of the word GOD is not DEUS. Seek and you will find. It is very well hidden but once discovered it is in plain sight. Love you all.

6:42 - Really? That's news to me. 'God' didn't come from Dutch 'Gut'; it came from German 'Gott', not 'Ghutam' or whatever nonsense he claims here. He thereby discredits himself by making up nonsense.

He traced it to the root word. Relisten and analyze : German (gott)-> Dutch (gut)-> Sanskrit.
      Further analysis,not stated, Gautam Budha
