    In this video, you will learn how you can wear it so you look dapper and what ascot or cravat mistakes you should avoid.
    We also discuss the history of ascots explain the difference between a cravat, cravate and formal or regular ascots so you find what works best for you

    A day ascot is actually a perfect accessory for today’s causal style. It’s true they’re not commonly worn but the functional and decorative aspects of the day ascot are perfectly positioned for a comeback.

    Oh, Yes! Ascots, my neck wear of choice! Be it pre-tied vintage OST, pre-tied Beau Ties Ltd, or self tied, (The pre-tied can be worn all day without slipping down, on your neck out of place) I always wear an ascot with my dress shirts, no neckties for me!

    Hello, my good sir. If you can give me a bit of information it will be greatly appreciated. The solid color ascot in Your video, where I can find something similar at a good quality? And why mostly ascots I find in the stores(including in Your shop) have patterns?
    With best regards

    Very nice video!! clearing up terms I hear the unacquainted often confuse and mix up. I would like to add the formal ascot is no longer allowed in the Royal enclosure But I have a few I wear to weddings but not to prize givings. also many for wearing under the shirt have a uniform width rather than the thinned neck portion.

    • @mh4447
      @mh4447 Před 7 lety

      Sorry it seems the ascot may be permitted but onlooking from the grandstand I have never seen one in the royal enclosure. I have only seen them at weddings and rarely and funerals

    Can you wear a day ascot in place of a tie in a business setting, can you wear a day ascot on top of the shirt, as opposed to wearing it under the shirt, if you are wearing high top vest? Thanks!!!

    Hi if you can help me i have 2 questions
    1 can i tie ascot under colar than with first button unbuttoned than go over second buttoned button and put it in the space between second and third buttoned buttons ending inside the shirt (if you understand me)
    2 can i ware a pin on ascot that is under collar or does it have to be over my collar in order to pin it?

  • @JMD1965

    During WW2, (intially) U.S. paratroopers would cut up the over damaged and un-reusable silk parachutes into neck scarfs to offset the rough collars of the uniforms. Commanders saw this and (while never officially approved) would often comment how dashing it made our servicemen look. General George Patton was a particular fan of that style of alternate neckwear. ..I myself, often wear one while kilted for day wear in the Fall. Especially while upland bird hunting or skeet shooting.

    I am from Spain and in summer, due to the heat, I wear short-sleeved shirts and polo shirts, missing something around the neck (during the rest of the year I wear a narrow tie), would it be correct to wear the gazné or an ascot with polo shirts and short sleeve shirts? Thank you. I love this channel.

    • @gabehorn1007
      @gabehorn1007 Před 2 lety +2

      This is a lil late but I think it could work. It is like a middle ground between a neck tie and a plain dress shirt. I think it could work for short sleeve shirts

    I have a huge question. I'm having trouble finding a shirt with a narrow collar so I can use a collar pin..
    Is there a longer pin that is sold? The pin I have is 2 inches long. Help?

    • @gentlemansgazette
      @gentlemansgazette  Před 8 lety +4

      +Itamajano a pin does not look good with wider collars. It has to pinch the shirts together. You can find collars like that from every MTM shirtmaker. Modern tailor starts at $20

      Wenn Du es preislich nicht übertreiben willst, Tie Rack London. Die Qualität ist nicht übermäßig, aber absolut in Ordnung, und die Läden gibt es an vielen großen Bahnhöfen - Hamburg, beispielsweise, glaube ich.

    Question about the ascots colors/pattern. Are there any that can give you the most versatile to wear with almost anything in the closet. I been trying to do more research but having found anything. I plan on wearing different colors pattern ascot but I want to have one that versatile to fit in my budget.

    The part when you say we’re the name came from is slightly wrong because the Greek word for tie (this is from 90 year old Greek people) is cravata. Love your videos keep up the good work.
