- Figure Note:
Stop-Motion Transformation of MakeToys MTCM-04 Guardia. The best one they made. I like how the hands transform and how bulky and stable it is. He’s had his trials and tribulations over the years. When I went to work with Axle (the motorcycle) I discovered he did indeed suffer from the “powdery diecast” issue, so his spine crumbled into three parts and his tailpipe broke off. The handlebars broke years ago. I went to look for a replacement and stumbled across a review video for a Shapeways 3D-printed replacement for his spine, so I got that delivered on Friday in time for the shoot. Good thing too because the other six things I have in the pipeline haven’t started to arrive yet.

Production Note: Whew! This took me 5.5 HOURS to shoot and another 2 hours to edit.
Viewing Note:
If you want to follow along, I recommend skipping to the speed run and using your , and . keyboard keys to advance by single frames. Every step of the transformation is documented in the frames of the video, in what I consider to be the best sequence. With minimal rubbing and minimal parts-parking.
Music: The music is by Ethan Meixsell - www.ethanmeixsell.com
Songs: “Pride Before the Fall”, “By the Sword”, “Start Your Engines” and “Run” - Krátké a kreslené filmy
I can see where MMC might have taken some cues from this set when it came to the legs/Groove.
Love how you make these transformations look so seamlessly easy.
I bloody _love_ this channel. Really helps you understand a mold, efficient orders of operation etc. Great stuff.
Magic Square's Grimlock's up for pre-order incidentally - looks awesome, as always for MS
Ooo! Gotta go look!
I love how they do the hands!
The hands are my clearest proof that the same designer did all four of them, to include the Stunticons by Fans Project. Same hands. Only difference with Guardia is the hands transform a bit.
Wow I have never heard of powdery diecast. Crazy QC issue!
Perhaps a poor description. It has diecast that is VERY weak and seemed to have gotten worse with age.
I miss Maketoys.
Very cool video peolesdru
I love these!
Very smooth vid as usual. Awesome!
Disfrútalo artista 😎👍
Huh, that's a creative way to put in the hands. Nice
Also, oof on what happened with your Axle. It happened to a lot people who owned it, so yeah it was painful. Good thing those 3D printed parts existed.
Amazing video! So well done!
Still one of my favorite combining sets, to this day. I LOVE these designs - and I have three out of the four sets. Four sets? Did they do four? I think it was four (one through Fans Project).
I really miss this era of 3p TF collecting.
Also: I can feel my thumbs hurting, watching this video. 😂
The good old days when the 3p companies did their own original designs instead of adhering to whatever some animators in the 80s came up with.
I had the YES-Model upscale set of this one.
A pretty great set, but not really my style.
Is the reissue ever going to happen?
The ambulance are the left leg the patrol car are the left arm.
It would seem not.
Should give a bit more time to the individual robots.
