I fought Gatt in 94.. On Tuesday night usa fights...im the first guy to take him into the 10th round....i never fought again...i went into the fight very confident that i would win as i had fought better opposition than he had at that time...i had lost before ..but that night i got beat up...suffered a broke eye socket...saw double from the end of round 1....i knew he was good . history showed he was a true gladiator! It was an honor to trade punches with such a great fighter!

My two favorite fighters. Gatti and Malinaggi . I am also a proud Italian American. Very proud of both of you. Saw you both in person. I was at the Gatti vs Solomon fight in the Blue Horizon in 1992 you talked about. Arturo's brother Joe sat one seat in front of me and we both rooted Arturo on. Meet Paulie at the the Cotto vs Foreman title fight in Yankee Stadium in 2010 I took a picture of Paulie with my sons at the fight and sent it in to Ring Magazine. It was published in the Ring Magazine later that year. Love the show Paulie.

Man! Paulie, Arturo Gatti the ultimate competitor that took it to the extreme in every fight. It's really sad what happened to him. I met Arturo once while I was working at a Pizzeria on Delancey street. I remember sitting at my computer desk that morning and reading the article. Famous fighter Gatti found dead in Brazil Hotel. My first thought was, that no this can't be true and that maybe there was another fighter named Gatti that I never heard of. But unfortunately it's not what happened. Before Arturo my favorite was Vinnie The Pazmanian Devil Pazienza.

Yo Paulie! ( mimicking Rocky) You are an inspiration to everybody that speaks their mind. For having a favorite boxer, they don't come better than Gatti. A true charismatic, all guts, balls of steel, warrior of the ring. No one like Arturo. Paulie, you have been one of my favorites of all time. If only you could of produced 10 more psi of pressure on your punches, you would have been undefeated. It pissed me off all those bullshit decisions against you. Case in point the most notorious being the Baby Bull and Broner fights. You gave them a boxing lesson. But, I was proud of you for speaking your mind after the bullshit. You really let them have it with that sharp tongue of yours. More poisonous than a rattlesnake. Keep on being legit like you have always have been. You don't need boxing commentary, they need you. The best to you my friend.

Was happy as shit the judges got it right the second time around... Listening to Paulie talk about Gatti is like almost like listening to Tyson talk about Ali. No way! If he hang it up at that time, he would have never been Satisfied with his career. He ended his career perfectly. Yes his last two as a fan was hard to watch but he was able to find the answers he needs. Gatti felt in his fight with Baltimoir his personal issues with his Ex fiancé Affect him mentally and was not focus on that fight, therefore, he did not feel it was his time to retire. The Gomez fight showed Gatti no longer “Had it”. He got hit and was unable to pull the trigger. He believed after that fight, it was his time to retire

You’re exactly right… it’s not the same thing not even close. That being said guys like you grew up with both Italian American and real Italian culture. And a step further Sicilian culture. I will say in Canada even third and fourth generation Italians still speak to language. Also their culture is closer to Italy than an Italian American from New York or Boston.

@@Oliver-fs2ep Well about 15 years ago when I was there I was speaking Italian to people who are third and fourth generation. I am actually from Italy.. I live in the United States… I would ask them what part of Italy they came from, and they said they didn’t… their grandparents did or great grandparents. I was shocked! I had conversations with dozens of people like this. I’ve never one time met a third or fourth generation Italian in the United States that could speak fluently. As a matter of fact they’ve developed their own subculture saying some words in dialect (not even pronouncing those words correctly) it’s like they were in a time machine acting like peasants did at the turn of the century in Italy. 😂 there was a difference between the Canadian Italian and American Italian. And I’m pretty certain Arturo spoke Italian. Paulie speaks pretty good Italian! I’ve watched interviews with him speaking.
