  • I had RNY Gastric Bypass on December 1, 2020 at Mexico Bariatric Center in Tijuana Mexico with Dr. Rodriguez Lopez. I wanted to show you the foods I can't live without after surgery, and the ones I tend to rely on the most to get me through the day. What foods do you lean on as staples in your diet?
    I am not a nutritionist or a dietitian, so please don't take this information as the way you should be eating or the proper way to do anything by any means. I am just a girl trying to follow her nutritionist's advice as best she can while living her life in a sustainable way that will hopefully lead to long-term success. I'm not perfect and that's okay!

    I think I started off this video from a really judgy place and just looked at it all and was just seeing junk food. But you've lost an incredible amount of weight and realistically, we're all going to need some treats in our lives still. This is really useful information for all of us just starting on this journey, so thank you for sharing. It must be very hard to put it all out there and be judged, so as someone who started from that place, I'd like to say thank you for the education.

    This is a really encouraging video for me. I’m meeting with my Bariatric team next month but I’m an information gatherer so this is helpful to have some idea of what’s coming down the road.

    HOORAY ON HITTING THAT SUBSCRIBER MILESTONE! This video is just what I needed right now. I've gotten so off track and hurt all of the time from what I've been eating. I also am Celiac and have been stupid with those choices. I've needed to step in and help out a few months with a family emergency that came up. Life is busy, but I know it will be easier to get through with putting the right fuel in my body. As always, thanks for all of your help.

    Love your choices. I use a lot of the same. Omg you shoukd try Todd's Protein puffs from Amazon. Made from egg whites and lentils
    12 gm protein per bag. Other great macros and good size portion bag. Different flavors and inexpensive.

    I loved your selections! Do you like cereal? I absolutely love the Premier Protein cereal with my Fairlife milk!

    • @1FatBeet
      @1FatBeet  Před 2 lety +2

      You know, cereal was one of those things prior to surgery that I had a huge problem with. I could easily eat through a box of cereal in a couple of days. Early after surgery, the solids plus liquids at the same time made me sick. I've noticed I can handle it a bit better these days, but my desire to eat it has almost completely vanished. I found the strawberry Premier Protein cereal to be pretty tasty, though! I really wouldn't mind trying the chocolate one. I also bought some Catalina Crunch at Costco but it just doesn't do it for me.

      Prior to surgery I could eat a box of cereal too but now regular cereal causes dumping. It doesn’t tempt me any more!

    love this!!! Try SF Reese Cups! Soooo good! What is the recipe you use for the peanut sauce made with the PB Fit?

    • @1FatBeet
      @1FatBeet  Před rokem

      SF Reese Cups are so good, I need to be careful how often I buy them haha. I never follow a recipe for the peanut sauce I make, I do it to taste. It's usually a couple spoons of PB Fit, soy sauce, a splash of rice wine vinegar, garlic and ginger (fresh if you have it but ground works too) and either a pinch of splenda or some hoisin for sweetness. A little bit of water to get the consistency right and bam!

    Watched this while eating an apple with Cajeta Quemada dip. I was going to use PB, but i really wanted something different. I used less than a tbsp and while not the healthiest dip, it curved my craving. Now I'm full. LOL

    I would worry with the kinder Buenos that I wouldn’t be able to stop at 1 I think that overwhelming head hunger would make things very difficult for me. Although I’m only 3 weeks out from surgery so I guess head hunger is still there and forefront.

    • @1FatBeet
      @1FatBeet  Před 4 měsíci +1

      It has definitely taken me a while to get to that point, but there are still some things I definitely can't do that with. The Kinder Buenos, for some reason, are okay for me and I don't go overboard, but yeah, I still have to be choosy of what's around my house lol

    Great video and very helpful. My only criticism would say please replace the tilapia with another fish and make sure it’s wild caught. Tilapia is so bad in so many ways. It doesn’t exist in nature and the most unhealthy fish you can eat. Salmon or cod or sea bass etc all good. I say this with love

    • @1FatBeet
      @1FatBeet  Před rokem +2

      Thank you for your perspective, I know it's meant with love. I've done research on Tilapia and disagree - I know the source is the most important factor and I'm careful on where I purchased my tilapia from. And although it may not be as healthy as salmon for example, it's still a healthy and fantastic source of nutrients and protein. But I encourage everyone to research and determine what choice is best for their lives ❤️

    Will I have to cut coffee?

    • @1FatBeet
      @1FatBeet  Před 8 měsíci

      It's recommend to not have coffee and acidic/caffeinated drinks for the first few months after surgery. I personally drink coffee now, but I honestly don't want it as much as I used to anymore.

    Sugar free doesnt mean sugar free. Maltodextrin and Maltitol has a GI of 110 and sugar has 65! You are better off eating reg ole sugar and beware of those Dove sugar free for example as you will get major gas and the craps if you eat more than a couple.

    Do yourself a favor and get a better quality fish that is not farm raised but wild caught.
