We had our first colour TV (a soviet one) for Christmas of 1979 so I could watch the FA Cup final in colour. As far as I remember this was the first FA Cup match in Hungarian television.
Only FA Cup Final I go to. Looking at the goal now, Pearson's shot was going well wide and the reactions of Brooking getting down to that with his head were amazing.
Irish Arsenal and West Ham with players local to the club, when they played for the clubs because they dreamed for playing for them......and I'm a 35 year old, I envy the people who could witness the game at it's best in the 80's.
In the days when supporters of the losing side would stay on afterwards to give their team a hand. These days, the modern fan just clears off at the final whistle, leaving the Cup to be celebrated in a half-empty stadium.
Have a nice day. Thank you so much for the superb match. Enjoyed and liked of course. Greetings from your subscriber living in Baku city, country Azerbaijan
I agree Trevor brooking was a great player I even had a joke once with him and said we will never forgive you for scoring that goal but arsenal just did not perform on the day and west ham where just the better team on the day I think Trevor brooking has only had one headed goal in he'd entire carear
Missed this cup final - pity. Unfortunately I was traipsing the streets of Belfast with a rifle in my hand. Only found out the score when I got back to barracks bout an hour after the final whistle.
West ham were the 3rd second division team in an 8 year period (1973-80) to beat first division opposition in the fa cup final. The other 2 occasions were:- 1973. Sunderland 1 Leeds 0 1976 Southampton 1 Manchester United 0 In 1973 Sunderland were written off as nohopers but proved everybody wrong and west ham replicated it in 1980
What an immaculate player Trevor Brooking was...
You know when the debate was who England played on the left of midfield about 15 years ago?..Here we have Devonshire and Rix!
He really was,! Not Devonshire's greatest performance but he was magic too, especially in the semi final games vs Everton that year
Indeed. If I'd not been an Emlyn Hughes fan at 7 years old, I'd be a miserable West Ham supporter like my boss 😅
The FA Cup Final was the biggest match of the season back then.
Best day of my life as a west ham supporter .... broke my glasses.... remember how I got my cup final ticket .....
When this competition was a national event . Fuck the 21st century.
Devalued when Manchester Utd elected to not take part for some two bob international competition. They should have been kicked out for life.

Trevor was the pre Dennis Bergkamp... just one touch,elegant.. poetry in motion.... pity he didn't win more titles
Not a free flag or scarf in sight , Incredible support from both ends
Brooking was immense in this game

Those were the days when winning the FA Cup actually meant something, to players and supporters alike.

Are you kidding they leave with 20 minutes left only two nil down.
Arsenal played seventy matches that season by the time the final came we where shattered four games against Liverpool killed us really

West Ham Videos,
Thanks for the footage of West Ham great Cup Final win of 1980. Really good performance by Billy Bonds!
Think this was the last time a team outside the top flight won the FA Cup
Ty For Uploading So Much COYI
I'd be well pissed off if that tackle before the end was not a red card these days. Still last time we won a cup, so great time
Hair style it's so unique
What a day that was will never forget it
Look at the sportsmanship shown by the Arsenal players and manager - can’t see Arteta behaving as well as Terry Neill did there ⚒️
15 seconds of the game still to play,
I was there; seems like only yesterday COYI ⚒️
The one and only great Johnny Lyall and his band of merry men ⚒️

Dundee United fans have a soft spot for West Ham and its because of Ray Stewart. what a player
Attendance for the 1980 FA Cup Final was a sellout crowd of 100,000 fans.
Well done west ham on the day there played there hearts out
How many goals did Trevor brooking score for west ham
The referee clearly blows the full time whistle 15 or so seconds early,...and forget about stoppage time! Lol!
Assuming this video is uncut, it was less than a minute from Trevor scoring to kick off. Can that be right??
No he scored in the 13th minute
if you mean 1 minute to the arsenal kick off after the goal - yes it seems right.
At least five of those players would make a WH greatest eleven.
17 years old!

I went to Upton park a few times in the eighties when we lost three one and twice lost three one and won one nil
One sub on the bench 😅
The last trophy west ham have won over forty years
West ham where just the better team on the day
Irons!!!!⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒
We where tired west ham had nothing to lose
Willie Young should have been sent off for that tackle on Paul Allen 1:42:15 ⚒⚒
Arsenal could not perform on the day we where tired four games against Liverpool killed us
and a cwc run to that final - which they also lost later in the week.
Nobody gave West Ham a chance which they won the FA Cup by shocking Arsenal 1-0.

Hammers for ever !
Alongside the 1968 and 1982 finals both sides wearing their away strips and both great strips not the ridiculous colours teams now parade in.
