I think you're 100% right about Kita's motives, and she's like "Wha? Nobody else sees this about Bocchi?"
I love this anime so much, you two are a blast to watch react and discuss each episode thanks for doing this. I think of drunk-chan as an alternate future version of Bocchi, she is both an inspiration and a warning - Bocchi has difficult things to overcome and any shortcut other than just working through it will become another thing that is even harder to overcome. Just a thought. I also really like how when Kita connects with her bandmates (which is her goal) the animation briefly merges their colors, just a really nice visual touch. It's easy to forget that she struggles with anxiety and personality types of issues that are pretty difficult as well.
As you mentioned, Hiroi has become such a great mentor to Bocchi despite her flaws. Her opening up about the person she used to be while being able to put on that sort of performance with SICK HACK helped contribute to giving Bocchi the courage to appear at the school festival. Another thing I really liked is that Kita has become that sort of best friend who knows how to read between the lines and take the necessary steps to ensure that someone like Bocchi is able to tackle these tasks head-on, as daunting as they may appear. This anime is just soooo good and I'm so happy that you felt the need to let a few happy tears flow because that's how I exactly felt when watching this. It's like, even though Bocchi struggles with her social anxiety, she has the right people around her to push through that and make the best of every situation presented. It's why so many people loved it, support the band in real life and continuously ask for season 2. 😆
