    Borat Movie Description:
Outrageous situations occur when Borat, a popular reporter (Sacha Baron Cohen) from Kazakhstan, comes to the United States to film a documentary on what makes America a great nation. Along the way, he manages to offend just about everyone he meets, fall in love with actress Pamela Anderson, and set forth on a cross-country journey to make her his wife.
Borat! Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (Kazakh / Russian: Борат) (also stylized as BORДT, or simply Borat) is a 2006 mockumentary black comedy film directed by Larry Charles and starring Sacha Baron Cohen. Baron Cohen plays the leading role of Borat Sagdiyev, a fictional Kazakhstani journalist who travels through the United States to make a documentary which features real-life interactions with Americans. Much of the film features unscripted vignettes of Borat interviewing and interacting with real-life Americans who believe he is a foreigner with little or no understanding of American customs. It is the second of four films built around Baron Cohen's characters from Da Ali G Show (2000-2004): the first, Ali G Indahouse, was released in 2002, and featured a cameo by Borat; the third, Brüno, was released in 2009; and the sequel to Borat, Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, was released in 2020.
Borat was released on 2 November 2006, in both the United Kingdom and United States, by 20th Century Fox. The film was very well received, both critically and commercially; made for $18 million, it earned $262 million worldwide. Baron Cohen won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy, while the film was nominated for Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy. Borat was also nominated for the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay and for Writers Guild of America Award in the same category. Controversy surrounded the film prior to its release, and after the film's release, some participants spoke against, and even sued, its creators. It was denounced by the government of Kazakhstan and was banned in almost all Arab countries.
In September 2020, a sequel, titled Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, was officially confirmed to have been secretly filmed, completed, and screened, a few weeks after Baron Cohen was spotted driving a pick-up truck in character as Borat around Los Angeles. The sequel was released on 23 October 2020, by Amazon Studios.

Sacha Baron Cohen is so incredibly talented, he doesn't just "stay in character" he becomes the character. It's a skill others in his profession could only wish for.
His characters are so elaborate and over the top. They're designed in such a way to provoke an extreme reaction and/or response. It almost gives an open license for whoever he is around to speak exactly what is on their mind, due to ultra confident and expressive characters he plays. It's truly a gift.
Borat/Sacha, received 20 wins & 34 nominations at various awards shows.
In real life, he's a very funny, smart, caring, and articulate individual, with a pinch of his characters querks for good measure. Furthermore, if you can believe it after his performance in Borat, he's Jewish, as are both his parents. He rarely speaks in public out of character, however, when he does, it's usually quite memorable. Khazhakstan was annoyed with how Borat portrayed their country, however, when their tourism boomed, they decided to go along with it.
Highly recommend any of his other films, as well as some interviews and speeches he's done (see below).

One of the absolutely brilliant things about Borat was just how polite ordinary people are when confronted with absolute absurdity, the character came off so genuine everybody was more concerned with being welcoming and friendly than anything else.
I'd highly recommend watching all the extras and behind the scenes stuff, really helps you understand which bits were staged as parts of the movie and which parts are genuine reactions from real people, aswell as the trouble they got into trying to make all this stuff.
Sadly the sense of humour isn't really appreciated by mainstream society anymore but since it's release it has become a massive cult hit.
Highly recommend Ali g to anyone who hasn't seen it before too, aswell as The Dictator.

What the fuck are you talking about? Borat was one of the, if not the single biggest comedy of the entire 00s. It was a cultural touchstone and it's still referred to constantly. Phrases like "very nice" and "my wife" are basically common sayings. Borat is as recognizable a movie character as Indiana Jones or Darth Vader. Love(not that she got hurt) the whole fun facts behind the Pamela scene. The fact that they had to film twice because nobody tried to save her the first time. The fact that she lost part of her jaw in the resulting struggle. Also the fact that she credits that scene as the reason Kid Rock and her got divorced. Totally worth it. Honestly even if I was her, I dont think there were any serious side effects from the jaw thing, I wouldnt expect her fans(especially the type to go to a meet and greet) to be very aggresive dudes, and also she got rid of Kid Rock. Back when this was released in late 2006, I was renting a room from a very proper, uptight, 70-something British lady in Montréal, Canada. In November (or maybe early December that year, I can't remember), she asked me what were some good new movies, as she was thinking of going to see a matinee with a friend. Anyway, I told her about Borat, but I downplayed it, and listed a couple other examples, including The Prestige and Casino Royale, warning her that Borat was maybe a bit too...much for her sensibilities (I suggested that she watch James Bond instead, as I thought very highly of Daniel Craig's first outing as 007). Well she'd have none of it (I think she took my warning as a challenge), and so one Sunday afternoon, she and her friend from church saw the masterpiece that is Borat. To her credit, she did find it extremely funny, specifically citing the naked wrestling scene as an occasion where she laughed so hard she cried (although I'm not sure what her friend thought). I never got asked for another movie recommendation though!
