    Absolutely incredible to finally see Jeremy’s face after spending all my teenage years listening to his voice for thousands of hours. And he did not disappoint! Sad to hear about the lockdown so I guess there’ll be a fairly hefty delay for some games but hopefully there’re some already filmed waiting to come out! Very excited for the future and in the meantime during lockdown maybe an idea would be getting people to chat about their army why they chose it strengths and weaknesses or whatnot on zoom!

    Jacob, your production quality is the best battle rep there out there keep crushing it! In my opinion, Al needed fewer Hearth Guards and more Dwarf Warriors with shields, it would have given him more models that he would have needed even if he passed this battle. Also why Dwarf Rangers? Dwarf Warriors with bows are way more powerful and have a better defense for the same points. Another way he could have played is to take the kings champ (includes 2 banners) for fewer points then Durin then just take like 8 Khazad Guards and then warriors with shields and then the captain's warband with like 2 Dwarf Rangers with longbow and like 4 Dwarf Warriors with bows then fill out with more Dwarf Warriors with shields.

      Thanks for the comment mate! We are trying our hardest to increase our quality.
      The comparison between dwarf Rangers and dwarf warriors with bows is an interesting one. The both have pros and cons. Strength 3 bows is nice but dwarf Rangers have a 24" range and a 3+ shoot value. I think the right choice is a mix of the two.
      The king's champ is so strong. In my dwarf army I am definitely taking one

    Not only were the dwarves outnumbered but they didn't get their full force into combat from the start.
    Sending in a few guys with a heroic on turn 2 didn't need to happen. If the dunland charge in at least that puts the combats a bit closer to the main battle line of hearthguard and let's durin and company get in a bit quicker.
    Should be interesting to see how Jeremy and dunland match up against the easterlings and the khand chariots.

    Hello, I’m usually not one to be a rules stickler, but given this was a tournament game where people actually might care about winning, at 14:40 when the dunland player asks if a model fits through a particular gap between two models, he proceeds to push two models apart to make more room(the two blue dwarven rangers). I’m new to this game entirely, and this comment is being made a year after the fact so it doesn’t really matter, but regardless it seems like a cheap tactic from an otherwise excellent player

    Good game! I think Dunland are very strong against dwarves. I had a similar match up at ArdaCon, and a similar approach. Try to keep the dwarves spread out, then get as many combats lined up as possible before using your war cry and stack it with piercing strikes. It's downhill for the dwarves from there and I'm not really sure how they can combat it. I was able to get Gorulf onto Durin and, with the help of a horseman, managed take him out.

    It really was a poor dwarf list and play from the Khazad-dum really meant you could see where the game was going to go as soon as the first heroic move was called. Credit to Dunland though for taking advantage of all of this.

    • @gwflora615

      What changes to the dwarf list would make an improvement?

    • @ConquestCreations
      @ConquestCreations  Před 2 lety

      I'm surprised you think the list is so bad. I know you play a lot of dwarves but Al came second place at a 750 point army with a similar list just scaled up.
      I haven't played Kazad dum yet but without spears it seems to make sense to go elite because you aren't able to leverage your numbers very well without spears so going for a dwarf horde doesn't seem optimal. Is there something I'm missing here?

    • @alastairking9046
      @alastairking9046 Před 2 lety +1

      Going full elite just isn't viable in so many scenarios these days for dwarfs. By reducing your model count you limit your options. In exchange, you increase your killing power but that was never a major problem for dwarfs to begin with.
      By far the biggest problem with the list is the lack of Dwarf warriors with shields. These guys are essential and should make up 33-50% of your army. The ability to shield combined with the D7 and F4 means that they are able to hold up lines and larger groups by themselves while the rest of your army can get into position. They also will match most other opponents elites in a fight often for fewer points.
      For example in this game, if we assume the captains Warband were dwarf warriors with shields instead of rangers that force would have been able to in all likely hood hold long enough for Durin and the hearth guard to get involved as they could have shielded to dramatically increase their chances. Still wasn't a great position to be in but gives you a better chance.
      On a side note as well dwarfs get better the higher the points because their weaknesses naturally become less relevant and their strength more prevalent the more models you get on a table so it's not too surprising to me that the equivalent list would be stronger at 750.

    • @alastairking9046
      @alastairking9046 Před 2 lety +1

      @@gwflora615 The lists I have taken at around the 500pts mark That I have been successful with are very different to this. First off at this points level I usually opt for the kingdom of Moria. Durin is too much of a points sink to get value from him at this points level for me. Opting for Balin and either Gimli or a Kings Champion is a better route at 500, I usually swap to Durin at around the 700 mark when Balin becomes a bit too vulnerable as a general. I also don't rate hearth guard and think they are surplus to requirements in the list and not worth the expense at 500.
      As a quick write up of 2 different 500 lists off the top of my head:

    • @jpchris96
      @jpchris96 Před 2 lety

      You are correct, but the issue in this game was the numbers and mobility advantage was so large to Dunland that it was difficult to take even fights for the dwarves and still hold more than one objective. A different stratergy would have been to turtle up and try to break the Dunland army first before trying to win the game with the VPs for breaking the enemy and controlling 2/5 objectives. It still would have been very difficult, Jeremy would have taken his time to circle and envelope the dwaves regardless.

    • @ar-mando1240
      @ar-mando1240 Před 2 lety +1

      Yep you are right, spreading his forces would have been even worse for the Dwarf Army. And fighting in one point of the battleground until the Dunland army is broke was very dangerous too because of the end of the game on a 1-2, it could finish juste after without time to retag the objectives.

    • @shishisei
      @shishisei Před 2 lety +1

      That works mostly in theory, seeing the armies involved.
      The Dwarves were severely outnumbered and less mobile than Dunland, so they could not afford to split to cover objectives. At the same time, their usually high defense doesn't mean that much when the enemy can use piercing strike with almost his whole army and has 4 more might points to use to control initiative.
      Even in a straight fight, Dunland had the means and the speed to avoid taking the dwarves one on one, and the battlefield was open enough to allow for the faster moving dunlendings to encircle their line.

      It'll be out in a fortnight but after that we have run into a pretty major issue. The city of Melbourne has been in a lock down for the past 8 weeks and will likely remain in lockdown for another 5 or 6. This means that we haven't been able to film. The Conquest Champions League is a 7 game series and only 5 of them were filmed before lockdown so there will have to be a bit of a break. I'm planning on making heaps of other content in the mean time. What kind of things would you like to see?

    *SPOILER WARNING*
    When Durin was rolling to wound Gorulf, wouldn't Gorulf immediately need to use his fate as he'd taken two wounds? That way Durin would have saved his might as Gorulf then failed the fate roll.

    • @jpchris96
      @jpchris96 Před 2 lety

      No, fate is used after ALL wounds are calculated - therefore modifiers on 'to wound' rolls are required to be used first.

      Thanks for the response! Btw, would it make any difference if Durin's rolls were made one at a time? What with the recent FAQs on rolls all at once vs. one at a time I just wondered.

      @@peterm.9379 I believe that if durin had rolled one attack at a time that the same situation applies but on a smaller sample size. So if the first attack had been the one that failed to wound he would have to commit to either using (or not using) might before he rolled his second attack.
      This is why rolling together is usually better because at least he knew he had 2 guaranteed wounds and the might would be worthwhile whereas with just one attack he could use the might and then botch another attack later.
      Having said this I did not check back to the FAQ you mentioned when writing this but this is how I understand it would work.

      @@matthewkappos3602 Actually no - if you roll one die at a time, he needs to respond to each one. A lot of competitive players don't do it that way because of how much time it takes. You're right though - you have to use Might in the moment to fix a failed wounding roll, which is yet another reason a lot of players don't do it.

      Not sure you have played middle earth before. It's a great game you should definitely give it a shot!
      This is how the game is played, for models to fight they must be in base contact and each model operates independently rather than in units
