    A big thing about GW2 is that it doesn't require a game time subscription. The base game is free and the expansions are one-time purchases. Once you've got it, it's permanent. I sometimes check out other MMOs but I always come back to do the new content in GW2 because why wouldn't I? It's always there for me.

      Expansions content patches are a bit mixed because you need to log in during 2 weeks (wrote 2 hours before by mistake) of release of this content patch to get it for free, else you need to buy it for gems (option of converting gold to gems) or money. On the bright side you can unlock them passively with login even without expansion.

    One of the things I love most about GW2 is how each class plays so differently depending on which allowed weapon is in use. Mesmer's Broadsword is maybe one of the most hilarious things I've ever seen (and it slaps enemies, too). The dodge mechanic is pretty sweet, as well. I'm mainly a FFXIV player, so I was very much not used to being able to dodge AoEs without fleeing the danger zone outright before I got into GW2. I enjoy the storylines in GW2, even if they aren't always _quite_ as deep as the ones in XIV. The voice acting and writing is generally pretty fun. That ONE CHARR who loves apples is one of my favorite MMO characters ever... he's such a fun fellow! I was delighted to find out I could get his face on my own male Charr once I got the appropriate addon.

      Beleive me, if you play GW2 and ignore EoD existence, you are fine. EoD gives nothing important for the game to be played. Nothing special like Gliding or mounts. The Jade Bot is character bound so you need to either spend thousands of gold, or play the story on EVERY single alt. The E-specs are not as good as previous ones. The game is perfectly awesome and fine to play forever, without ever knowing EoD is a thing. Skiff is better then the boat too. and the EoD story is garbage.

    • @mebrandonb
      @mebrandonb Před 2 lety +2

      @@Goremize Your personal opinions of the story aside, everything you said about the jade bot isn't accurate. You don't have to play through the entire story for a jade bot on an alt if you want a free core for one, just get to the 2nd map. The jade bot is a mastery so it's unlocked for every alt regardless of if you do the story or not. If you don't intend to play through the story at all, even up to that point, then you can just buy a tier 1 core on the trading post, which isn't THOUSANDS of gold it's currently 2 gold.
      The elite specs are hit and miss, but there are some that shine depending on the content you are doing. Vindicators are basically devils in pvp currently, and heal mechanist is exceptionally strong for content such as raids or strikes.
      Circling back to the story, I actually thought it was really strong and I haven't encountered anyone else that even came remotely close to thinking it was garbage. Even people upset over the whole DE/turtle drama admit they do like the story.

    I played GW2 only a little bit way back when it first launched. And it's not that I stopped playing because I didn't like it, I just had other things come up in life and when I finally got back into MMOs I went back to WoW and stuck with that until the shitshow last year. I went with FFXIV after that and have enjoyed the hell out of that game, but I did occasionally think of GW2 in the back of my head, not sure how well that game has done over all these years. After watching this, I'm certainly tempted to give it another go.

      The game has been steadily growing (albeit quite slow imho) over the years and have gotten some pretty good updates and is a solid choice for an MMO to play whether new or not. I myself have been through the process of dropping it for a bit then picking it up again after some time. Overall it's a great underrated game to just kill some time and have fun, though it must be said that isnt perfect and has cons like any other MMO. Just a quick note though, unlike other MMOs when new content comes out, or a new expansion comes out, the previous content and expansions don't automatically become obsolete. If you're a new player don't bring that traditional MMO mindset with you thinking that you have to get into the latest expansion now because all previous content and expansions are obsolete in terms of drops, rewards, gear, mobs, bosses etc..... they aren't, they're just as current as the latest release. And lastly there's absolute no need to rush through the storyline to get to the end ASAP thinking that you'll miss out on something by not being there, you won't, there's no hurry at all to complete anything.

      @@kingvonderwelt5090 so you're one of those 200 players that play pvp? xD
      PvP is a wintrade fest btw.
      And the pvp community is extremely small.
      Same for the WvW.

    Bladesworn is that tactical class with satisfying high numbers if played right, im always hitting 80k or 90k dragon slash. But the expansion is really good.

    played for years, not a big fan if you've done everything, kinda need vertical progression imo, otherwise gets stale and boring

    • @MemoriesLP
      @MemoriesLP Před 2 lety +4

      Nope... they would need to adapt controls and change a lot of the hud. Game is also on dx9 with a dx11 beta, so if they release on console, it might take a long time.
      And Im only playing GW2 and Elden Ring haha. I love both games

      No plans for a console port. But it is coming to Steam sometime soonish. And it is playable on SteamDeck.

    actually, when you're in combat, it locks your ability to swap weapons, so whatever swap you were on last, is locked so you can only go back and forth between the gunsaber.

    Agreed with the amazing story telling. I used to play WoW, but I didn’t ever pay attention to It’s story. Tbh I didn’t care about GW2’s story at the beginning, but like you said, it grows on people.

  • @xRevTheoryx
    @xRevTheoryx Před 2 lety +5

    Guild Wars 2 could put all the other MMOs to shame if they just focused more on endgame content. My main issue with the game is that you are encouraged to play brainless open world meta events while litteraly afking on the map rather than engaging challenging content like CM fractals or raids

    • @zeri7835
      @zeri7835 Před 2 lety

      I'm pretty sure they're taking the steps in the right direction with harder meta events (and actually teaching us mechanics) like the controversial one we have and with the strikes we're getting (still hoping for better rewards on the CM). And as seen with that controversial meta map, there's obvious splits in the community between people who know the meta and knows the game well in terms of combat and those who are just doing whatever build in the open world and honestly probably barely touched the dodge button or just panic spammed it. Endgame content helps yes, but it's not the sole solution to make the game better, as seen in FF14, there aren't as many raiders as you think, since raids take a long time to set up and not everyone has the time- Most from what I've seen is that it just felt like a chat room or a hang out place in FF14 and if anything, the raids are just one of many side things to do in the game. It differs from person to person in general of what content is for you.

    I love GW2, but the combat just isn't doing it for me. It is good, but it's a bit too simplistic and easy to get burned out on.

    • @EdenTechX
      @EdenTechX Před 2 lety +1

      Well... it depends on what you want from a class. You can do from brain dead smashing your keyboard and be good necro or you can play a piano and think you're good elemenalist. The build craft is also very important for the classes to shine. You have a rotation but it isn't as layed out as FF14 for example. You've runes and sigil to consider. Stats you want to check, weapon types. All of that is involved it your combat and that's not even all of it. You have conditions and boons to consider too. You can dodge but also block AoE's. You can make it as engaging as you want it to be.

    GW2 is perfect MMORPG.
    I hope, ArenaNet releases more strike missons with challenge mode and maybe super-challenge mode to hook in hardcore raiders, so my friends could join in.
    No doubt, they do know how to make it rewarding, even without item progress, so the number and difficulty of strikes is what can buy a lot of players for the game.
