You DO NOT have to remove the radiator fan, the fan shroud slides back over the fan enough to remove radiator

Thanks for the video Jimmy! I will say that for the 2005 ram 1500 you do not need to remove the fan at all, and you do not need to remove the transmission cooler or whatever because it's in a different location. Took me 15 minutes, amazing.

I love 1A auto - I've had several vehicles that would result in me wondering "Before I replace this part, I'm gonna see if 1A has a video on this for a refresher..." and of course they do for most of my vehicles. It's awesome to see their dedication to maintaining such an expansive database of videos across several makes/models.

Bought radiator from 1A Auto Parts, it is a quality replacement. This video made it easy to do myself. Like others I could not get fan clutch nut to budge but was able to easily remove the 4 nuts that attach the fan to the clutch which created enough clearance to remove the fan shroud. This was for a 2008 Ram 1500 5.7L 4x4 QC Big Horn.

This is the best video on youtube for this swap. But if you remove the cross brace that runs in front of the radiator, lleft front fender to right front fender. You dont have to remove the fan and the shroud can come out, still attached to the radiator.

Fyi people just did radiator replacement on 2006 ram slt 1500 hemi, you do not have to remove fan, shroud and the retainer tanks for coolant and windshield washer fluid, can simply unbolt shroud from radiator and set it back toward engine and slightly pull over on a/c tube at top left corner of radiator and slide it up and out. But the rest of disconnecting is correct.

If you detach the shroud from the radiator. You can hang the shoud up on the fan. Take the top 2 bolts off that hold the radiator. Disconnect the upper and lower hoses. Disconnect the transmission cooler. Pull the radiator straight up. Don't worry about the fan. Done it a few times like this.

The Fan did not come loose as in the video,,,,,, Instead of trying to break the fan from the motor , which can be impossible , if you cant break the nut loose. Disconnect the 4 bolts holding the fan to the clutch and slide the fan towards the motor . the shroud can be removed with ease. the rest of the video was spot on.

The part where you are putting the transmission cooler tabs into were they slide into the right on the new radiator and in your video it's at the 5 minute 53 second time slot. My question is they are not the same now as they were in the radiator slots that you had in this video they have changed they are now Square pieces for each tabs but they have holes in them now they do not fit if you slide them in the tabs are too wide for them so now they go right on top of them with the holes matching up is it safe to zip tie them or do you have to use a bolt and if you do a bolt in a nut a locking nut what size?. You're probably going to have to re modify this video because all the radiators now do not come with those slide housing

So for those having trouble with the fan nut on a 1500 5.7 (2006 or so range), I just grabed a regular Philips screw driver and on the side of the water pump, facing the fan, are 4 holes. After putting on my pipe wrench, I carefully put the screwdriver into a hole (left side, to hold against the spin of the water pump) and I hit the pipe wrench as I held against it. BE CAREFUL OF THE FAN BLADES FOR YOUR ARM CAN GET SLIGHTLY PINCHED.

I just did this repair today. Took about 6-7 hours. Not minutes as this video infers. I used about 2.25 gallons of fluid to fill 100% up.

Ppl do not remove the fan u don't have to just move the fan cover to the back and u have enough room to remove the radiator. Just did one right now

    - starts video and immediately notices mechanic using a tool not listed (pipe wrench) 🤦‍♂️

Take the air filter completely out put the reservoir where the air filter is no need to drain all that fluid least that's what I did also don't need to take the fan off just the cover you gotta work it out but not to hard to do least this is how I did mine.

+Strong Addictions Thanks for watching! We would not recommend painting the radiator, especially the core as this will effect its cooling capability.

No need to remove the fan, just the shroud. Plenty of room to pull the radiator withe fan still in place

An adjustable wrench is literally the worst thing you can take a fan clutch off with. You can literally rent a fan clutch tool for $20 at any auto parts store.

Great price on your radiator. However the pipe wrench and ratchet on the pully didn't work for me. Gave up after and hour on it. Luckily though the install is possible without taking the fan off. Just unbolt the shroud and let it rest on the fan then you can pull out the radiator.

gave a dislike because.... you say to use the tension pulley.... to get the fan removed....but failed to mention that the arm that pulley is on is weak... and breaks easily....so end up costing me another 50 dollars.... to replace that arm for the pulley.... guys if you remove the air filter housing which is rather easy to do... you can jockey the fan shroud around enough to get past the fan it self...aka don't cost yourself another 50 dollars.
