This NEW Shiny Hunting Method is BROKEN in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

- The shiny charm is going to be a cheat code in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and I cannot wait to get mine
Introducing the Town Method! This method to shiny hunt only works in towns that have people in them. It does not work from open area to open area and does not work entering and exiting the team star bases after you complete them. Outbreaks spawn SO MANY of the same pokemon, so after getting my Dragonite to delete sixty plus Kilowattrel I had my artificial shiny charm that only worked on an evolved Paldea electric bird. This outbreak was right at the edge of Porto Marinada so all I had to do to despawn and respawn all these Pokemon was move slightly to the left and back to the right. And I caught not one, not two, not three, not four, but five shiny Kilowattrels in the span of five hours!
I seriously wish they brought the sparkles and sound back. I'm colorblind so I really struggle to shiny farm some of these. I want to collect them so I have the appearance in my pokedex log as a completionist. The only time I can easily farm is if there's a group of the same pokemon.

It takes a little longer, but if the outbreak isn't near a town, you can use a picnic. Also shiny pokemon on the edge of towns can be caught multiple times. Save once you see it, catch it, go right to town, save game, reload game, it will respawn, repeat
Oh yeah I know about the picnic method, plan on trying that out for a frolass outbreak I have later today!

That is a duplication method, the Pokémon you catch with that are the exact same so they can be at threat if there’s an update in the future that checks Pokémon to see if they’re duplicates.

They really need to re-add shiny visual and audio cues back. I got a shiny Varrom today, and the only reason I knew it was shiny was that my Crocalor refused to auto-battle it (it was dusk in-game, so the shading made it tricky to be sure it was shiny).
I get you but if they did that I feel like people would say it’s too easy like Arceus. It’s hard to make everyone happy.
@@IamAncient I mean, it wouldn't change the likelihood of shinies appearing, only how likely a person I'd to notice that the shiny exists. And in a big, open world with loads of pokemon spawning, there's bound to be a few shinies popping up. I'd just rather not have to constantly slow down and squint at every other pokemon I drive past cause there's sometimes no other way to know they're shiny...
@@insertclevernamehere1186 Plus there's always going to be the doubt and fear in your mind if the shiny looks almost identical to the original version. With just an extra visual and audio cue, you don't have to worry if you missed a shiny because you didn't want to start a battle with it.
@@IamAncient I think the even larger issue is how difficult it makes shiny hunting for color blind people.

Your method helped me out so much to get 2 shinies in about 2 hrs. I did the picnic method. Heres a new short tip, if you're in the water and hit picnic, you'll end up on land. When you respawn on land, you wont actually have to open up the picnic. The pokemon spawns still reset. Saves a bit of time. Happy hunting all!

@@IamAncient Almost always yes. There was a few instances I teleported to the pokemon centre though. I noticed it mostly happened when I slowly click through the text after opening picnic in water. I would have to consciously mash through the text then. No biggie.
Are you sure they actually respawned? I tried this at least 10 times or so and not once did the spawns ever change. Same amount of each mon and same formations even.

If there's no town you can also set up and exit your picnic, refreshes the spawns as well.
Oh yeah that's a good one too! This is just if there are pokemon near a town you can spawn them a good bit faster, but I plan on trying out the picnic method at some point for sure

Best to do it in an outbreak when u kill 60 pokemon

Got my shiny Dachsbun doing this in a hour and 30 ! I definitely recommend it if the outbreak is close to a town. I personally think its faster than picnic if conditions are ideal. Especially since picnic tends to "not enough space".."things will slide". Both methods work well.

I've been trying these methods and doing stuff like picnics and using herba mystica sandwiches and still no luck, pretty early on though I did find a random shiny which was really awesome. I've been an active shiny hunter for years so hopefully my luck changes. Great video, I really prefer this to the picnic method as it takes a lot less time to reset the pokémon

Try to get the charm. I was on the same boat because even with herbs Mystica sandwiches and doing 60+ Pokémons on a outbreak I was hardly seeing a shiny. Heck at the time my only shiny was a Slither Wings I found at random when I failed a jump.
You can trade all of the version exclusives and save some Pokémons, all the normal ones can be found in the wild so I decided to capture them all and get the shiny charm.
I got it yesterday and so far I'm almost half a box filled with shinies. The odds with a shiny charm+Herba sandwich+outbreak 60+ are the same as Masuda method with shiny charm aka 1 in 512.
And you can change the date without closing the game for changin outbreaks so you can fam a certain type like crazy with really good odds. It makes a huuuuge difference between having the charm or not even when Herba Mystica makes the rates rather good without the charm.
On Facebook people are saying that they're catching shines like its nothing and I finished the game and have yet to find a shinny and I been levelling up my Pokemon in outbreak areas

i mean if you think about it it’s like the horde method in gen 6 but instead of 5 pokemon each time its like 10+ each time and way quicker. Now pair that with the shiny charm and you’re golden.

i actually did this about a week ago for my shiny Squawkabilly. i hadn't used an outbreak, but i managed to get about 20 encounters per minute, just walking onto the route, checking the spawns, and walking back in. combined with meal powers and whatnot, i managed to get my target within about 4 hours! thanks for sharing with the masses.

@@IamAncient the shiny just changes the pompadour, alongside the beak and talons! so the colours all get the same shiny changes, but keep their unique colour.

Playing with shiny hunting outbreaks, It's probably best to avoid outbreaks that happen specifically in cave tunnels. A lot of pokemon will spawn inside the walls making shiny hunting a real pain. Tried a Glimmet outbreak in one, and a lot of the time most of the spawns were inside the walls.

I have no idea how many I’ve missed, because everytime I’m farming an outbreak it’s either for a really small and hard to distinguish Pokémon or there’s sand blowing and I can’t see anything lol.
I might just do eggs instead so I don’t go crazy thinking I’m missing them haha.
I totally get that, I plan on doing eggs for things that are hard to see and just in general since you're going to be running around a lot anyways lol
There's many ways to reset spawns. You can also walk far enough away for them to despawn then return and they will respawn. Same thing with the so-called Picnic method. It's just various ways to get stuff to despawn.

And yet somehow by idly exploring my path onward, i was found by a Shiny Mareep on the Olive Farm.
Shiny Swablu hung by his brother on the path i traversed, seeing my first swablus ever that game.
Not to mention going after a tera-raid made those murkrow reveal their pink outcast.
I had not gotten a badge yet for the mareep. The other two was found on my way o-o Luck was on my side that those shinies were rather Visible. Unlike certain others.. Luck to all of you!

I have to remember this for shiny hunting. I actually got 2 shinys one shortly after another and I wasn't even shiny hunting when I got them full odds the 1st was rookidee and Tauros was the second shiny Tauros is easy to miss because the shiny is a slightly darker shade of black I noticed one was slightly darker then the rest and sure enough it was shiny

Lol that sorta happened to me as well. I was only about 3-4 hrs in game and I was busy raising a 2nd team when I just happened to notice a reddish skwovet.. then not a whole hour later I came across a psyduck and azurill.. LOL 1 red, blue & green shiny. Couldn’t have asked for a better start! I haven’t came across any others since.
The town method (and being able to parkour) is how I slaughtered enough cups of tea to get EdgeySwordBoy really early.
this happens with any wild area of pokemon, i can go in a large circle and pokemon will freshly spawn, as soon as i leave a given area they despawn behind me, then i circle back and book completely new spawns appear, its wild!
Circles are definitely the best way to reset outbreaks if you can make a big enough one. I'm going to briefly talk about that in my next video but not in detail. It's just going in a circle lol

For people who say this takes long, it may not. My friend was watching this and told me about it, i went to hunt shiny ralts, 2 refreshes later and a blue, white, and orange ralts appeared.

Ive been wondering since the game came out if towns did create new spawns for Outbreaks, I suffer from some color blind issues ( some colors blend, some shades arent noticable etc.) and for so many pokemon, the picnic method was too far for me to see with my eyes reliably on some pokemon. I USED THIS METHOD TO FIND SINISTEA FOR THE CERULEAGE ARMOUR AND I THOUGHT "OH HEY THIS IS A GOOD WAY TO SHINY HUNT" AND THEN TWO DAYS LATER OTS ACTUALLY A METHOD
You can also do this with cave entrances
It’s difficult to recognize if there’s shiny around🤯 I didn’t know all of their colors😔
The best thing to do if you’re not sure is to use the let’s go function to attack a Pokémon you think is shiny. They won’t KO a shiny in let’s go mode
@@IamAncient I tested this today, and can confirm that my Crocalor wouldn't kill the shiny Varoom I found in a mass outbreak (ironically the same area you found that shiny Rookidee, just outside town)
@@IamAncient my profile says I’ve seen 7 shinies but only have caught 3. I have a fear the let’s go feature kills shiny ditto and zoroa disguised as normals…..

@@plaguedoctor5657 unlikely. If it keeps track of how many shinies you've seen, then there must be a flag on shiny pokemon, which auto-battles would use to determine what not to kill. Most likely, it'll be the really hard to distinguish one's that you ran past, like Phanpy, Igglybuff, Tauros, etc.

you can also reset spawns with picnics, a ittle slower but for certain areas it's the only way to get shinies fast
I did the picnic method yesterday for a froslass outbreak and one showed up after less than 10 picnics, just crazy

Let me know if you do! If you do it with other people in your world you get fewer spawns just as a heads up. Also just saying Medali might be a good place to try it for Eevee...*cough*
Besides making shiny appear you can also clone the last shiny with town. Catch the shiny. Go back in town. Save then hard reset and look for the shiny again!
People have been saying this but I don't recommend doing this, you might get banned from multiplayer if they do checks for dupes

You can do this method but instead all you need to do is start a picnic and when you end it there will be all new spawns. This is good for mass outbreaks after you have killed 60.

Lotsa info here sorry if I missed it, in this video and your recent about multiple shines in 5 days, are you using the sparkling sandwich boosts during these videos as well? Or just the town/outbreak methods by themselves?
In this one and the video with the Fuecoco on the thumbnail I did not use any sandwichs. This video was just town and town + outbreak. The video with the Charizard I did use a sandwich for the three caught in Area Zero

@@IamAncient i hope you doing the right raids there is only 20 raids that give you salty herbs any other raid is pretty much useless and its about a 1/5 to get a salty the problem is seaching only for it takes a while and then there is kids that dont know how to raid and ruin it aswell
Wow for real? I got to look into that. So some raids you have no chance of getting salty and when you do find one you only have a 20% chance? Damn these are rare, but I guess that's for good reason
@@IamAncient you have a 2,5% chance but you have 19 item rolls yes they are rare if done like 60 raids and got 5
@@IamAncient also some people have figured out a number of recipes that don't require salty herbs now which has been big for shiny hunting sandwiches.
yesterday as i was in a battle against a wild floatzel, i saw a shiny gyarados during the battle. i couldnt run because the floatzel was faster than me and trapped me in a whirlpool. the gyrados despawned while i was trying to kill the floatzel

Ok so I'm curious. If the picnics and town method work. Why doesn't just running away from the pokemon until you see it no more(despawns) and when you come back it's a whole new group of mons. Im not talking about the town method I mean simply just in the same area. I hope I make sense. I don't see it get talked about a lot only the just the picnic and town methods for new spawns.
That makes sense for sure and it does work that way. I had a Lechonk outbreak that wasn’t by a town and just found a pathing where most if not all of them disappeared and eventually the pink pig showed up. The methods just make it faster since they all despawn at once. At least that’s why I like them

@@skippythenoob6974 I can also confirm that when you run out of range of a spawn so it disappears from view and you run back immediately, it's gone and a whole new spawn will appear instead. I found a shiny Chansey during an outbreak this way!

Yea i did this trick with a chansey outbreak but instead of a town i used the team star base which allowed me to get a whole bunch of Pokémon to spawn
It doesn't work that way at star bases, you might have just been getting far away from them
There is also a glitch when u find a shiny near a town, you can catch the shiny, go into the town and save, close and reopen the game, go where the shiny was and itl be there, i got 30 of the same shiny and i mystery traded 28 of them
Nice of you to trade them out! But maybe get rid of that extra one you have jic they do checks or something for dupes. People are saying you might get banned from multiplayer but idk about that stuff
God...I can't wait to bring my 300 different Shiny Pokemon I have from Gen 8 lol. Shiny Zacian, Eternatus, Groudon, Kyogre, Kyurem-Black or White got all Shiny Zekrom, Reshiram and Kyurem, Arceus, Darkrai, Origin Dialga and Palkia, Manaphy, Phione, Mew, All Mythicals, Yveltal(Not in Gen 9) Xerneas(Not in Gen 9), Zygarde, All Regi's, All Forces of Nature, All Ultra Beasts, All Spirits, All Legendary Birds and Dogs, All Galarian Legendaries except of course the Shiny Locked Ones.
And then I got Shiny Victini with An Action Replay I once owned for Pokemon Black but I dare not to ever bring it over until it is official.

When im done with the game and start shiny hunting i wil 100% do this
I messed up a shiny fidough I didn’t save and a normail fidough got in a battle with me, after I battled I was spawned into the city and the shiny disappeared. This was my first shiny fail I’m still and abt it but it’s a lesson to save as soon as I can see a dif color pokemon

In the beginning of my game....I rode by a group of Shinx with the middle one being a Shiny bright Yellow guy. I therefore kept him now a Luxray on the team being first Shiny.

I found a shiny corvisquire not even 15mins into the game on my way to the electric gym, it feels a bit cheap as I’ve find a few others before i finished the base game. I really want to see what the chances of that happening are as i think i only battled two rookidee before i found it.

I’m doing the exact shiny hunt you did in the video any tips of spotting the shiny kilowat I almost felt motion sick trying to spot bright grey bottom or orange beak and limbs lol
To be clear my issue is they move fast and spawn fast and despawn fast lol. I also don’t know your eyes were good enough to spot them on the bridge, I’m in the water to try to get a closer loook and the despawn still works
I tried the water at the beginning but that’s where I got my first fail so I stayed on the bridge. It’s like a crimson color so it stood out to me whenever it popped up, but you’re right they do spawn and despawn quickly because they move around a lot. My advice would be to save instantly when you see one instead of trying to get it right away when you see it and trying the bridge. Just felt like a better vantage point for me.
I feel im in a minority, but I wish they made the chances BACK to 1/8k but gave us a visual or possibly audio to the shiny existing. Make them harder to find, but easier to notice. I think thats the best way to balance out the community desires. Or have a setting that gives you visual/audio cues but makes shinies half as likely to appear. effectively the same thing BUT giving the option to the player.
If it's a minority I'd say it's a growing minority. What you're suggesting seems more than fair especially if the future of Pokemon continues to be open world. As we get more powerful systems (fingers crossed) more Pokemon should be able to render at once meaning even more shinies.
I shiny hunted a red gyrados and it took me 33 min using outbreak + town my first shiny in any pokémon game other than pokémon go

So..... you dont need to go to a new town or even area to refresh spawns, you just need to go away out of sight. Yeah thats it. Just circle around in an area and youll see new spawns

I got a question about outbreaks. Does it matter if I kill other Pokemon while doing the chain to 60? It happens so often to me that I let my Pokemon autofight the Outbreak Pokemon and suddenly there is a different Pokemon cought into the mess and I can not call my Pokemon back in time because the mechanic is so freaking clunky. So it gets killed too. Is the chain still running or do I have to start over?
Nah you’re fine if that happens. You just have to defeat 60 of the outbreak Pokemon and you’re good. Defeating another Pokémon doesn’t reset the count or anything

I disregard the save method because one time seeing a vid from Austin John on PLA and that screwed up my mentality when this game came along. Came across a shiny Bombirdier in a mass outbreak the other day outside the town with Larry as its gym leader and it used Whirlwind on me and ended the battle... forgot to save before or after that encounter. 💀
Also the reason too why I didn't care to look up a shiny guide on Pokémon SV prior to my first ever shiny fail in quite some time was to avoid story spoiler stuff but now at this point I don't really care and wish I'd known sooner how to properly approach the situation. 😪😭 tbh my fault for thinking that shiny hunting methods would be similar to that of Legends Arceus in this game.
I get why you would do all that though so you didn't spoil anything, saving in this game is really important!

Yup sure can, it’s the most efficient way too.
What towns would ya recommend to do this in, so you can be sure you get a lot of spawns? I'm gonna start doing this myself
Zapapico is really good at both ends of the town. Los Platos has a lot of the early mons that look good and wooper is there. Medali is really good too because you can do it around the whole town.
Yup, it works. Flew to Zapopico. Got a shiny Hariyama in less than a minute. ✨✨✨

Is there a jingle when shinies appear? I didn't hear one when I first found a shiny in this game but I just thought it I missed the audio
No, there's no sound or notification. You just have to find it
My bf had 2 shiny encounters so far and was super lucky. No save before encounter and pure luck even noticing them. First was flutter mane in Area Zero and second was bergmite at false dragon lake

This is how I got my first shiny, was resetting an area for a "rare" pokemon I needed for my dex and ended up finding Shiny Sandygast

I wonder, would this also work with shiny charm + outbreak + sandwich? I guess it technically should, right? Maybe outbreak is sammich locked, but otherwise it should work. Gotta try this one for a few shiny friends!
It definitely increase odds for sure. I think doing this for an outbreak for a line with 3 evo stages would be a great idea
