To anyone that sees this you just need to get the royal addition ! There is no breaking glass animation because your ring is outdated and does not have the effects that the royal addition does. Ofc the little effects like the breaking glass animation is not what we care about. But my point is that the original ring does not have the power to suck in Adamantoise.
Can confirm Jan 3, 2022 this still works. Another strategy you can do since Alterna is 1% chance of hitting him, you can use the death spell. Still warp pointing when your magic depletes. If you don't want to rely on RNG to hit him with alterna, death spell for maybe...10 minutes give or take and he will die. I alternated between alterna and death spell just to see which one would work sooner lol

As of today the typing of this post, January 17th, 2024, This does indeed work! And yes, on my second attempt, I did as much as I could to Increase my Magic & on my attempt, I was 2753 & spammed Alterna. Took 5 minutes & it finally connected!
Confirmed just worked for me today, I tried to lock on the head most of the times and about 5 mins in byebye turtle! I just warped back and forth, locked on and cast away. Hope this helps for ppl trying for the 100%.
I just spent 5 minutes fighting it at level 58, suddenly remembered the ring, tried it, and got it on the second try. Best part? I had the 50% bonus exp food on, then went to Altissia for that sweet triple exp. After all was said and done, I had something like 550k exp after resting.
@@MajesticJoshua You don’t actually gain the exp until you rest, either at a campfire or at a hotel. Depending on the quality of the place, you can get bonus exp. There’s a hotel in Altissia that gives triple exp. Mind you, I’m going off of memory, as I have not played this in a few years.

Just a informative thing for everyone, I don't remember what patch number it was but after a certain patch the adamantoise was made vulnerable to the ring, however it is highly resistant to it as confirmed by the wiki

Aidan she appeared when i fought adamantoise two times alr and there was another time (dont remember what i was fighting) but i think she appears when the enemy's too tough/have high hp? and i got to summon her early in battle for all of those instances

I honesty kept using the r1 circle attack till it looked like the adamantoise was glitching, after a few more times I got a instant death when his HP was around the 2.5 million mark

It worked for me today (October 15th 2020), probably on cast #8 or 9. I did not use any fancy meals or gear just cast it, warp pointed to get mana back, cast and repeat until he died.
I was 100% certain that this would be the last trophy I'd need to earn for the platinum, but it turns out the adamantoise is a cinch compared to getting fishing up to level 10. That will have to be my final trophy, because fishing is tedious, boring, and very slow.

Today is february 24, 2020 and i just got the play trophy for this game by defeating the adamantoise through this method. The only trick that you need to consider is to raise noct’s magic to as high as you can. When i faced the adamantoise my magic was at 960+ but i got to kill this monster after 4 tries.

A tip: if you can’t seem to kill it with ring try to increase your magic to make it have a higher chance to proc a kill with the ring

But if I don’t increase my magic it will eventually do the trick, you just have to be patient and believee

Leveling fishing up to 10 is literally automatic if you fish.
Fishing is not so hard. You just need to stick to it and get the equipment you need.

It IS a 1% chance though, so you could do it 57 times and still not have it work

Just fight Garuda. You get a whopping 80,000 EXP for defeating her and it's only takes 5 minutes to take her down. You can fight her over and over.
You can fight adamantoise infinite times and it gives you 100k exp every single time without any boosts. Ring is ineffective on Garuda.
