Let's all take a second to thank this man for the tips on how to get the most out of the lumber. For some of us spatial awareness morons, we'd never figure out why stuff didn't measure out! Thanks!
This comment made my day 😂
Yes. Thank you
Oooh hey do like the living room like that like this I mean with a weird aisle I like it too He's a little weird to get around into it but
Literally just made one of these in less than 20 minutes. Cuts and all. Awesome stand. Gonna make 2 more and hit the range later today. Thanks for the tutorial!!!
Never had an issue but you can add some type of weight at the bottom if the wind is too crazy
Hey brother!!! This is an amazing video! I just build 4 of them and found everything at Ace Hardware. These were very easy to build thanks to your tutorial. You are the man and in case no one send this, which I’m sure they have, thank you! Cheers brother! Shoot straight and shoot often. Semper Fi.

Thank you for sharing this tutorial brother! Watched it today and headed over to The Home Depot to pick up my Lumber. Had one built within 45min. and all for a mere $8 with enough to build another base. Thank you again!!
Thanks for posting this video, you saved me a bunch of money. I followed your instructions and made two stands in no time. I took them out to the range today and man I wish I had watched your video sooner. Thanks!
I watch a lot of woodworking and DIY videos, and this is by far the most succinct and clear I've seen. It moves at the perfect pace, and it includes perfectly relevant details without unnecessary commentary. Thank you.
Amazing sharp and accurate
Thanks for this tutorial. My father in law and I just built four of them. We did omit the center portion. We’ll just fasten a chain or rope across two uprights to attach steel to.
Saw horse brackets at Lowe’s 8 bucks for two. The target hang from the top of the saw horse with a chain or rope. All done with 2x4.....
8 inch carriage bolt, 4 1/2 inch spring, 2 washers, 2 nuts. Take your bolt, put through your plate then add the spring onto the bolt on the backside. Add a washer and run through the 2x4. Compress and add another washer and 2 nuts tightened on each other. Add washers anywhere else you might need. Hope this helps. I'm gonna use your idea for the replaceable upright if that's ok.
Thanks for posting this video. Great design and cost effective. I built one last night and took it out today. Winds were 20-30mph. Did not fall down once. I will be making more. Thanks again
Heck yeah, I'm glad they worked so well for you. My original stands are still holding up to this day. They all need new uprights, but that's an easy fix.
I'm definitely going to be making a bunch of these! I am going shooting with some coworkers soon, and I already have a ton of scrap 2x4's, and tons of nails from a leftover project, so I'll be making many of these!
It's 2021 and your video still providing a great cheap DIY target stand. Just Built one with my father and zeroed my Glock 19 with a Holosun red dot on it, target worked very well! Should also mention we had the 2x4s already....
Best portable diy setup ive seen yet. Finally something I can fit in my car, thanks for the breakdown as well. Cheers!
Just built one of these with some lumber I had laying in the garage. Super easy and super effective. Thanks
Thank you so much. I needed to find target stands fast. Found your video, built them from old lumber and they work great!
These were super easy to build. I built several and they work great! Nice video!
You have good ideas, buddy. Thanks for sharing.
great design man..i love how you can pull the 2x4 out and use 1,2,or 3 boards for a variety of targets...thanks for the ideas!
Just made one of these in like 30 minutes. I made the whole bottom slotted for lots of adjustment. The smaller pieces are kinda wonky, and I should've used smaller screws because a couple split even though I drilled them. Can always make another real quick! Thanks for the idea/instructions!
Short, sweet, and to the point. Thanks man
Perfect design my man. I just made one myself using your idea and I love the result. Thanks for the inspiration!
2021 here, just made this exact design myself. Found a good guy at the hardware store who did the cuts and literally all I had to do was take a drill and screws to the pieces. Super easy and super sturdy, probably gonna make about 4 more.
Just built mine right now. Super happy man. Thanks bro!
The instructions are complete, clear, and well structured; as good are the content and timing of the voice over. Thank you, brother, for your contribution, valuing our time, and sparing us unnecessary flourishes and annoying soundtracks.
Thanks man! Just built three and getting em to the range tomorrow! I appreciate the video!
Thanks Mr. Bang! I just put one of these together...great video!
Hey man thanks for the simple Heidi for some cost effective stands just took a half hour and build 2 for myself going to build two more this week thanks again brother
just got me a new AR and ive been dying to take it shooting. due to this whole covid mess my option was shooting out in the middle of nowhere which i prefer. this video helps a ton. thank you!
Just made mine today! Thanks brother for the awesome how-to video. I’m definitely going to make a few more. 😎👍🏼
Awesome video! For angling the plate, one way is to weld a piece of steel (rebar/bolt etc) on top of the plate so that the plate would naturally angle downward due to gravity.
Been looking for a quarantine project, and I found it. Great video; clear explanation, straight and to the point. You just saved my $60.00.
I appreciate the good feedback. You’re right these would make a great quarantine project. The only problem is finding enough ammo to be able to use them 😬
Awesome! Simple and effective, building some this weekend! Thank you.
Thanks for the tutorial, built three today!
Outstanding, strong work and thank you, Go Alabama, my family lives in Cullman, has been since early 1800s
Thanks man. I got a buddy thats a firefighter up there.
Just made one of these today, pretty straight forward. Gonna go get some quarantine shooting done! Thank You!
Awesome, I'm glad you like it. I got some quarantine shooting done the other day and it was much needed. I'm still using my original stands from these videos. The uprights are barely holding on and the bases are full of spalling, but they are still kicking.
Dude, that is a great system. Thanks for the video.
Going to slam one of these together soon. Cheap and easy. 👍
My son and I started by making 2 at the same time. Great and easy to complete!
Dude great idea I googled how to build my own stand this was the first thing that popped up on google. Hell ya
Had some 2x4s lying around when I got my house and this is instantly what I thought of. Thanks for the video ✊🏽
Way better than paying $30 for a stand that will inevitably be broken by a friend you take out shooting😂
My friend.....I've been waiting for a DIY video like this for months. Thank you so much.
Made one today. I was mistakenly thinking I would get two but still a great price. Great suggestion
I made 2 of these but I used 2x6`s for the base and 2x4 for the uprights. The 2x4 uprights are so much better than others that use 1x3 fir strips. They will last longer from errant misses.
Made 2 of them today. Very simple and quick project and seems quite effective.
That’s awesome! 👍🏻
Thanks for the tips building some now
Nice job. Just what I was looking for. Many thanks.
Dude thanks!!! Super easy but awesome.
I just built two of these. thanks man, nice work.
Very cool! I made 2 like this and a modified one that's a little bigger for tin can targets. Thanks!
Great video man! I've been looking for some portable stands that break down but assemble without much need for tools. Gonna make some of these this weekend! For your hanging plate to angle down with the bolt...just put it on a shim at the top and bolt it. Wouldn't be much but about 1/4 inch or so but would be enough to angle it down.
Thanks brother, On my way to get the supplies now
Thanks buddy.. Good ideas. Gonna build as soon as I get some time
I didnt make them aexactly the same but this was a huge help to get me started!
Just made one today. Thank you for this!
If those of you do not have a saw or are afraid of imprecise cuts, remember Lowes and Homedepot will cut for you for a small fee. Its totally worth it.
You are totally welcome. I never thought about getting Lowes or HD to make cuts, that's a good suggestion.
hardware
4.5"x1" diameter spring
7/16 x 6" bolt
2 nuts
3 fender washers
2.5" wood screws
wood
(2x) 2x4x8' or 2x4x10'
cut:
feet: 2x 24" each
side2side: 2x 17"
middles: 4x 3.5" each
upright: 4ish feet (remainder)
(with 8ft piece, cut half pieces out of one board, half out of other board)
96 - 3.5 - 3.5 - 17 - 24 = 48"ish
Just built one - thanks for the helpful vid and smart design!
Hey a bit late since this was 6 years ago but I had a thought with the metal target. Since you have a space on the left and right you can just make a U shaped frame and put I bolts or hooks through the middle 2x4 part and hang them by a chain instead.
This is amazing. Thanks!
Very cool and inexpensive target stand man, thanks for sharing.
an idea: Bolt the steel target to the top of the 2x4. Before you do, cut the top of the 2x4 at a slight angle where the target will deflect lead down. Just don't take too much off the top so its still strong
Simple, quick & cheap. Very nice!
Thanks!
With most ranges closed and i live outside of the city this should be handy.
Just built one. This is awesome. Thanks for the great tutorial!
Glad it helped!
Thats what I'm looking for,,, thanks. Happy training!!!
Thanks I'll be building these soon.
On the single post target. Make a “T” and hang the steel plate on the side… you can actually hang 2 steel plates and you won’t tear up the 2x4. I’ve actually used a 4x4 and made a single post tree.
I'm building me some of these. Easy to break down so it fits in the car, easy to fix damage to the upright by just buying a new 2x4.
Dude, i thank god because he does work in mysterious ways. I legit came across another dude who told me there was a rock quarry near where i live where dudes go to shoot and do some tactical training. After that i have been on a mission to find out how to make my own target stands. I just so happened to come across your video and its the perfect answer. I needed something that i could break down and that was portable since im in the military and move alot. Thanks man, i appreciate it.
God definitely works in mysterious ways, I have no doubt. Glad you like and I hope you get tons of use out of them. 👍🏻😎
Sorry, but god has nothing to do with target stands brother
Totally doing this next weekend. Great vid!
Thanks, I hope it works out good for ya.
These are AMAZING!!! Thank you!
This awesome. I live in a new development and there’s a ton of scrap 2x4’s in the dumpsters.
I know what to build now!! Thanks for the video
these are dope, thanks. im about to go make these right now
I made one of these today with minimal tools (I finished cutting with a goddam folding pruning saw because the world's jankiest jigsaw with a rusty dull blade I had been using finally stopped cutting and i didn't have a new blade nor did i have access to a miter saw.) But with all that being said, it only took me like an hour and I'm please to say despite looking terrible, it appears to be fully functional and I only used 2 boards as expected. Thanks for this video!!!
Thanks man. Good video
Great target stands, I'll have to make me some this weekend.
I was thinking that your ar500 steel free hanging should ricochet downward nicely. Possibly a file on the hole angling the way it interacts with the hook
Excellent! I've been looking for this design type plan
Awesome man! I’m doing that tomorrow.
Thanks brother perfect targets on a budget
Great tutorial Bro, I bought everything and built one today. Except I used both corner posts and hang two targets in the middle. Great tutorial Bro💯💯💯💯
Nice. These really do have tons of options for mounting targets.
Excellent presentation
You could use 2 outside uprights, both with hooks, suspend a chain between them and then hang the steel disk from the chain. Like the design of the stand. Some good ideas. Thanks for posting.
Robert Burns if I was gonna do some long range shooting with a big steel target I would definitely do that. 👍🏻
For the metal plate, weld some log chain on both sides and hang it from 2 2x4 with those hooks
Great design! Thank you.
This is exactly what I've been looking for in order to do some "social distance" training. Great idea and stand. Looking forward to building a few...
Yes! I’ve used mine a bunch during the “corn teen.” I’m about to have to make new ones since mine are getting pretty chewed up.
7$ goes a long way.
Brilliant! Thanks for the How To!
Thank you. Awesome. Home Depot made all the cuts for me. So easy.
Sweet! Glad they were able to get that done for you. Now you just need to get out and shoot it 👍🏻.
That’s awesome I don’t have a table saw so I was just wondering if someone at Home Depot or something could make all the cuts for me
We made two of these last night! Thank you!
👍🏻😎
Freaking genius! Great job.
Thanks brotha. Saved me some money.
Great Video 👍🏼 VERY HELPFUL
Great Tip!
Will be making this tomorrow, hell of an idea bud. Roll Tide!👍🏻👍🏻
I just put out a video with an updated design. Check it out before you start making them. The new design has a few small improvements. War Damn Eagle!!
Thanks for the video I made 2 and they work great.
Good man repeatable results. Good video sir
I like this Idea, one sharp fella bud.
Dude! Awesome video. They charge you an arm and a leg for a ready made one at the sporting goods stores. The backing music track is pretty badass too. 🎸🎶🥴
Great vid man. Thank you!
Nice design, thanks for posting. Could you glue a magnet on the upright and set the metal target angle?
Thanks for posting this! Ever find a good way to get the steel mounted to angle down?
Awesome!!! Thanks
