- The original $7 target stand has worked great and a lot of y'all have made the and used them. Over the past couple years I've found a few things that needed improving. This video goes over the improvements that were made. Hope y'all enjoy.

Dude I just watched version 1 and was amazed and then I saw version 2??!?!?!? How much more can one guy be amazed!
😂😂 I don’t know man, but I appreciate you saying that. 👍🏻
Been looking a while for an easy portable target stand for the range. Great design, simple and effective.
i love engineering projects like this. thanks for sharing these videos and explaining all the details and reasoning behind them.

You're welcome 🤠
dope. glad I saw this 2.0 before I build some- thanks!
Awesome video! I will try it out this week.
Some great design ideas, thank you.
Love it thanks alot. Already made 2 and used them. No issues.
Great stuff. I'll be making a couple of these today. Thanks!
Followed this the other weekend, everything went great!
Perfect man. Great idea.
Hey thanks just built a set appreciate the info now to try these bad boys out. I really like how you have two different options with the same base. As I tend to shoot a lot of bolt action rifles with smaller single post targets as well as wide silhouette targets for my pistols!!
Great video! Going to be making a couple of these. I appreciate this
Thanks! I hope they turn out great. 👍🏻
Not gonna lie…. I wouldn’t expect these things to last forever… but the fact that your original one lasted a year is impressive by itself
Awesome job!
Don't miss. Ever. Bam
April 2021, this is now a 1500 dollar build.
Target stand costs more than the targets just about 😂
January 2024, this build is now illegal due to carbon foot print, it’s also now racist and bigoted (probably)
2024 cost more to build a stand then the gun costs
😅@@ajahijernigan4051
i used (2) 5 3/4 inch spacers and it worked great
Add a piece of 2x6 or piece of plywood 1/2 or 3/4" across the front bottom - it will be your frag catcher. Hold in place with one bolt on each side - slip fit .
Then take it off and you have a good "safe" frame to pick up and move and one flat piece with all the junk in it.
A triangle stand will also work. Think those cheap 3 legged shelf picture frame holders. They make a good pattern to make a big one. 2 cuts at the top and some cheap chain to keep them together and you "should" be ready to go and have almost no fraging on the bottom because there is no bottom.
Great info !!! Thanks
Great stuff!!!
Thanks
I kept the two side 2x4’s. Put an eye bolt through the 1.5” of each. Hung the steel plate from two short chains that clip into the eye bolts.
Never hit the 2x4’s. Never hit the chains. The plate gongs nice!
The steel plate can be removed when not used....or left in place as a backstop when the cardboard target is used.
I’ve heard a lot of people doing the chain setup. I haven’t tried it yet, but it sounds like I might need to. 👍🏻
On the plate upright I think I will ad some steal plates on the front part of the 2x4.
Thanks bro .. they work great !!
You’re welcome. Glad you like them. 👍🏻😎
I need a smaller, more portable stand. Im going to try this with wing nuts or something similar.
Ill be making 2 of these today
Wrapping the high wear areas with duck tape helps with splinters
I paid $15 for redwood because I liked the color..lol. I didn’t think about the damage from the ricochet. Next time around I’ll go the $7 route.
Yes sir! That is a better design👍🇺🇸
Thanks Dan! 👍🏻😎
Nice upgrades to the metal plate - looks safer than many others I have seen.
This is a good video
Thanks for the video. I just built two of these but I made some modifications. I cut the feet so they're 36" inches for a more solid and stable base. I also kept the posts the original way, however, I bought 1 1/12" X 24" flat bars that are 1/2" inch from Home Depot and fastened those to the front of the posts so they don't get chewed up. Works well.
Nice! Sounds like a good idea 👍🏻
Update February 2024, this is now a $4500 build
Seems like it 😂
You could probably use some old rubber tire strips to protect the 2x4's.
Nice
I'm seeing all the prices for these torso targets. It is so stupid easily make your own,I'm speechless for this c***
What spring are you using with the carriage bolt?
I made one of your first video. Thank you.
Awesome! The original version works great. When those get chewed up and need replacing, try this version out 👍🏻
Where do you get the springs for the bolts
I made 3! Still work, but I need to replace the uprights...
Heck yeah!! Replacing uprights is a good thing. It means you’ve been shootin that thing! 😎🤘
How well do you suppose these would work for paper targets if the feet were only 16" from front to back?
I think it would work fine like that 👍🏻
Whats the length of the carriage bolt u used for the version 2.0? Thanks
I did the same thing and used a 6 or 7inch bolt either will work
Where did you buy the screw and spring for steel target? Thanks
I got the screw at Lowe’s and the spring at a local feed store.
@@ClangandBang thank you.
Built 4 of these stands. Used 2 for targets with the 2x2's and used the other two along with a hinged cross-shelf (hinged to fit in the car) to make a shooting gallery that's easily held up using a couple of those 2x4 door barricade brackets.

I like that setup 👍🏻
With all of that red clay u MUST be somewhere north of Montgomery lol
Something like that 😉
@@ClangandBang I figured lol....bro who does tactical matches in Alabama I've been online and cant find anyone
There’s a place in Shorter that does matches. I think it’s Central Alabama Gun Club. Don’t quote me on it, it’s been a while since I went out there.
Can you put the measurements out on one of the videos, it would help the less experienced when trying to make these. Other than that good vid!
The first video had measurements in the video, but since I've changed them a little I'll put in the description or pin a comment.
@Clang and Bang, Bless you Sir, that’s awesome.

You know it! 😎
Does this hold up to 308?
I can tell you this. This target stand is no longer $8.
Just get a t post and asteel target, tpost hanger and stop playing with lumber. Also, why are you training to shoot dwarves and children?
T posts have to be driven into the ground so that means you need a driver or a sledge. Who cares how tall or short the targets are?
I just built one and paid $12 for 1 2x4. Thank you China and Covid.
Don't forget Trump, Biden, Fauci, and of course Bill Gates
