- Millennia is playable for free during Steam Next Fest between February 5-12, so check it out here: millennia.paradoxinteractive....
I love Millennia's new take on the 4X genre, and I wanna thank Paradox Interactive so much for sponsoring this video!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Millennia is an exciting new 4X grand strategy game published by Paradox Interactive, but developed by C Prompt Games, and the reason it's so exciting, is that we finally have a Civilization-like title, that actually tries to be different and deeper. It not only plays great and offers some really exciting Age mechanics and National Spirits that change up gameplay for every playthrough, but we have the tried-and-true selection of mechanics here, that I'm certain will make every Paradox player smile with joy. In this video, I give you my thoughts on the game thus far, while the video also services as a guide and tutorial to Millennia's first 3 ages.
Remember that you can also play Millennia yourself during Steam Next Fest for a full week! Let me know your thoughts on both Millennia and this video in the comments, and make sure to leave a like and subscribe to the channel :)

Humankind or Civilization again
Also this video feels/sounds sponsored
exactly
Thats because it is. He said he's "collaborating with paradox interactive" at the beginning of the video
I like how this game makes a little twist to the 4X formula, but I'd like it to go a bit deeper.
The problem I have with games like civ or humankind is that I have a hard time playing a historical nation in a non historical map. I like how here the nation is just a name and you can pick how it develops, but I think that a Stellaris style faction design, where you can create everything would be very interesting. That's why I have moved to things like Age of Wonders and Planetfall, which also have an interesting take on battles.
The combat seems a bit of a miss tho, it's a bit more complex than in civ, but not by much, and it doesn't have any player interaction apparently. I play other PDX games, that's not a bother, but I don't think I'm going to watch those combat animations very often, I will quickly find a way to deactivate them or super accelerate them like on civ.
The starting bonuses but pretty much freestyle technology trees, this is just a 4X turn based version of Empire Earth. 😂
Civilization: Shadow Legends.
Paradox makes games that are not graphically intense but are typically much better than civilization.
i wait for ara history untold
Looks good I love strategy games
Hi I was wondering if you've played Distant Worlds 2 recently? It's had a very large update which changes a lot of things and would be interested in knowing what you think of it.
I think it looks like a variant of humankind amd co, but I will try it in the test week
Well you’re more optimistic than the others here
Fix Victoria
Yes.
I'm definitely going to check this one out. If my gpu comes back from the repair shop I time 😅
Im playing on a laptop with 10th Gen i3 with integrated graphics in these weeks
>Implying you need a discreet GPU to play this.
Any TW mod news? Plz give us a series on witch total war titel has witch mods keeping it interesting and fun! Will be a good way to start the year knowing if we missed any top tier mods with any tw game. AND IF they are being updated/ expended upon.
Wishlisted!!!!
Looks like a mobile game
Would honestly like to see this onn the mobile platforms. The turn-based naturen means you can do a couple of turns in between daily tasks.
So its Humankind...
if Humankind was made in 2010s
@@stranger3731facts. My faith in paradox is pretty much gone at this point after Vicky 3 and Ck3
@@LLMCxDakwhat do you mean Vicky 3 and CK3 are good games plenty of content. Maybe not at release but that’s literally every paradox game.
Ck3 is actually amazing. Victoria 3 is mhe but not bad
@@LLMCxDak Ck3 is great
Looks interesting, kinda wish it looked better tho
woah real hot take on the combat animations I heard from you. 😂
This looks like the worst thing Paradox has greenlit, why play this instead of Civ or Humankind?
Cus its "different". Similar but different.
The battles alone make me pass on this
An yet another 4X where Spain's simbol is a yellow bull. There's a plethora of thing represent Spain that ain't the bull. And you're going the bull route, paint the bull black. Just anything but the yellow bull, please xD
To be fair, America's symbol is almost identical to the one in Civilization. A star. That's it. Just a generic star symbol.
a bit promising. but lets see how this goes
I wishlisted it until you said paradox 🤣
What is wrong about paradox?
@@MijnAfspeellijst1234 They sell you a barebones game at full price infected with bugs, then they sell you the antidote: full price half a$$ed DLCs of game features that was in the last iteration of the game. 🫤
@@MijnAfspeellijst1234 do you really need to ask that?
@@MijnAfspeellijst1234Have you just ignored almost every single release from them within the last 5 years?
I like eu4, stellaris, stellaris nexus, ck3, hoi4, victoria 3 is slowly getting better.
I played eu4 when it released and it was very bare bone, but now it one of the best games i own.
i have thousands of hours in these games. so what is the problem?
I feel like people are just hating paradox, for the sake of hating.
What developer of grand strategy is beter?
Honestly, the combat seems rough and the weakest part of this game. I'll check it out during Next Fest though and see how it stacks up playing it. But everything else sounds really intriguing! I've been really excited for Millenia and Ara: History Untold and how they will hopefully add to the 4X space.
Pure mobile game, pure sponsorship.
Hmmm, yet another game taking shots at Civilization. With its own tweaks and unique mechanics. Fascinating how Civ is getting so many "clones" these past few years.
I love almost every paradox game but I fail to see why this is better than Old World or Civilization. The eras and supply chains *might* be good, but it looks risky ... I would love to be wrong though because this is my type of game.
No thanks.
eh
Whats sad about paradox games is the main game comes barebones, and it's only finished with 20 paid updates, you know dlcs that improve the base game. In the end the game will cost 300€ or more like all their other games 😂. But let us hope they don't do that with this one.
Incorrect, PDX games come finished, but instead of moving to making the 13th release of the same game, they keep improving upon them. Most DLC updates focus on bringing specific things to specific factions, some other bring general things interesting to everyone, but most of the time they are expansions over something that is already good. This updates also come with a big chunk of free updates for everyone. It's better to pay (if you want that content) about 20-30 moneys a year to expand and improve something you already love than expending 70-90 yearly in the same or an ever worse version of the same football or FPS game. Yes, after a few years it makes it look like there is a huge pay entrance fee, but that's not really true. The most necessary dlcs are usually at a good discount or in a bundle, and most other dlcs are so specific that you don't really need them unless you want to go that route.
@@TheRewasder97 You say that shit like there won't be a Europa V
@@tpower1912 of course there will be. But just check the difference between Crusader Kings 2 and 3, these games are set years apart, when the game can't take them where they want or is getting too old, and make a substantial difference
*sigh*
Why does it have to use Mana??!!
I'm so sick and tired of Paradox/Paradox-Published games pivoting into using Mana mechanics...
At least game it appears to be Mana lite, but urg
You had me until you said Paradox. They make DLC not games. Not gonna buy 300 dollars worth of DLC to get the actual game
Give it one year or something more and it will be better than civ
Can’t believe they abandoned Imperator: Rome and are now releasing this mediocre Civ clone. Just makes me sad man
yeah it just looks like a worse humankind, that combat looks awful
it does a couple of things way better than Humankind tho
Humankind sucked on every level. This combat has layers it just doesn't look good. However, this game does a much better job simulating the building of a civilization.
i actually quite enjoyed humankind, its aa very fun game, the city expansion feels natural and the combat areas make war very fun to fight on multiple fronts @@westwarren6736
@@westwarren6736 They significantly improved the game since release though. It's still worse than Civ but playable.
Ehh
I bet most youtuber including this channel will play this once and never again. Hopefully PDX is going to learn the right lesson that ppl want a Pdx style 4x historical sim that rival civ, not what this clone is. I fear that most likely PDX will instead take it as a lesson that nobody wants a PDX Civ game.
Worst nightmare lol...
Hard pass.
No not in my wishlist anymore.Ohhh battles look funny not fun :) Thats not a 4x strategy game.
Nope
Browser graphics yikes
I don't know... I'm 1/2 excited 1/2 disappointed. I like some stuff I see and concerned with others. It looks like civ 3/4 city spam again. 2-3 spaces is too close, should be min 4 spaces. Better yet, it should have pre designated city spots like Old World has. Best idea for a 4x game ever. Humankind and Civ are always ruined for me by the moronic spots the AI founds cities in. As far as tech goes... 6 techs and era? YIKES... that's like what, 60-72 techs? (not sure how many eras there are) Thats REALLY light. I really hope we don't go warrior-swordsman-musket man-infantry here, lame ass crap like that. Im kind of worried.
Looks like its gonna be same old, same old: Weak out of the box, good 3 years later after several expansion packs, patches, and player made mods.
Yeah that battle scene looks really crappy
This game looks incredibly ugly and bland, taken out like 2004. We cannot allow game developers to have such low standards.
Eww Paradox. No thanks.
