The MSI Format Explainer got those huge number of views, probably because it became an ad video. I was surprised that when i went to the dentist, they were playing music through youtube and out of nowhere the MSI video came up as an ad lmao.

Caedrel 3 months ago: ADC it the most unplayable role in the game and gave up climbing to challanger with ADC in 2 months.

@@Dekharen tbf the problem with it is that most of lol players have one-dimensional perception of the word "difficulty" whereas it actually has a lot of aspects (like learning curve, entry level, learning cap etc.). The problem with adc is that the role is so dogshit, that it is really easy to not look too bad on it (i.e. it is braindead in this sense), but it is terribly complicated to be good enough to solo carry (as opposed to jungle, mid or supp, for example).
@@sya8002 That's true. I think there's a real disconnection in the design of the role though; Marksmen were intended to be kiting carries, a force that rises through the game and will eventually warp the game around them if they reach endgame.
The problem is that for many reasons, champs on other lanes have had to deal with the power creep of every champ in the game to avoid staleness where games are just decided instantly off one trade or one unescapable gank that leads to lategame snowballing.
Champs have been overloaded with resistances, regeneration, setup, mobility, to combat this staleness. The problem is that ADCs simply cannot receive the same treatment, because if they became just as good as the others at everything, not only would they lose their identity (which they lost a long time ago but that's another subject) but they'd also be incredibly overtuned, since they'd exponentially scale with the ability to influence every stage of the game, surviving everything, setting up everything, with consistent damage and range.
But now ADCs have none of the upside of current league - no mobility, no early game setup, no agency - and barely have any strength to themselves. They don't survive bruisers, they don't survive assassins, they're still outranged by mages ; most supports have a lot more playmaking than ADCs. And, the most tragic part, they can't even deal with tanks properly nowadays. Tanks get so much damage, so many resistances, you cannot reliably take them down. And the recent changes won't make ADCs better imo. Crit is very nice, but it doesn't kill mundo, and now cut down and last whisper items are nerfed. Yet ADCs still have good enough scaling and objective fighting (because they're in a way irreplaceable) to be played over many other picks.
I wouldn't mind if Riot would move marksmen out of the meta entirely, but the way they exist inbetween conceptual views for the game is just painful. It's not fun to play, it's not rewarding, it's stressful, and many items & runes designed for ADCs just get nerfed over and over because other roles use them better.
@@Dekharen true. I remember my friends inviting me to DotA 2 for some casual games and how surprised I was when playing a carry compared to league. You are weak and forced to powerfarm and get kills here and there for 30 minutes, but afterwards you are an actual threat to enemy tanks, supports or mages, you have items that give you windows to not being shut down or oneshot in 0.01 seconds, you are not afraid to be 1v1âd by a full tank enemy, but canât 1v5 neither. And by consequence your team actually cared whether you farm properly and whether you are well-protected. Some surreal experience for a league player
@@sya8002 Yes, Dota with their slower playstyle have retained the essence of carries a lot better ! On the other hand, it got diluted for league. I hope they go around to fixing that in a more meaningful way. One of the problem for Riot is that this most likely involves taking power away from supports, and sadly getting people to play support is something they battled with for a long time and won't allow to revert.

It's not removed, it's jsut not in the adc category. They can still buy it though. But maybe this protects new players who don't know what items do from picknig it on the wrong champions.

To be fair, items were good back then. They were simple and did their job in supporting the champion's fantasy. Ever since then, Riot made item systems more complicated and your champion became a vessel for the right item combinations. I like Phreak going back to the roots and make items more simplified again. Less is more. There's still more than enough complexity in Lol.
Man, new Navori looks plain horrible. Bad spellcaster item because no AD and no spell dmg amp and bad on-hit item because no on-hit dmg for useless crit. AS-crit-Haste is such a wacky combination, this is going to be a very niche item I feel.

You can build it with IE now, so it's still a very good 3rd- 5th item. Lucian will be taking this or Rapidfire for sure. Smolder and Xayah will still like it 3rd or 4th item too.
