Bulldozer is right, I nicknamed a friends late malamute D9, from the stories they told of him of just pushing the fence boards off to take himself for a walk and just going in straight line where ever he wanted go, not around or over but through. Just made his own path, and kids loved him and he loved everyone.

My thoughts exactly. And some fluffy bulldozers are just mouthy. I could tell that he wasn’t really biting. Just mouthing for fun and love. Sadly it’s a trait that can get an inexperienced owner in trouble if it happens when little children are around.

@Orcus79 Orca They should use them as police dogs.
"Oh no, the villain has run into those gardens. Whatever will we do...Steve, get The Destroyer."
Out comes a malamute who smashes through fences like he's The Juggernaut, and could happily run for days. The criminal wouldn't have a hope of escape.
And once he finds the criminal, will constantly mouth without biting, so won't do any harm except to a few fence panels.

( instead of dragging my 5'2 mom around). If you want a malamute, breeders can have low-drive puppies - and most do temperament testing so that they can match the right puppy to the right person/family. People always advise that only experienced owners should get Malamutes but how do you get experience without owning one ?
I used to have a lot of GSD's and they were very easy to train, however Malamutes need both physical and mental stimulation every single day or they will get bored and start destroying your garden/house or start to be deliberately naughty just to get an interaction with you (like a quick dig in your side then they run away, come back then nip you in the side in hope that you get up and chase them). Definitely not for people who lack motivation in any way shape or form.
With all of that being said the payoff is worth all of the blood, sweat and tears you will shed whilst trying to get them to do stuff, they are extremely intelligent dogs who only do things if they want to. BUT they do pick up training very easily and then get bored with it - so keep training mixed up as much as you can, also do not set routines as when a certain time for something comes near they will harrass you until you have done what it is they are expecting!
There is so much more I could write about them but you would honestly be better off reading up on them from vets/specialist pages to get a fuller picture.

I lived in Alaska for 18 years: in Nome for 5 of those years. I helped one of my high school teachers train his dog team for the Iditarod. Leo's personality reminds me of Moses. He was wheel dog: the position directly in front of the sled ...the ones who need to be strong to break the sled free in case the runners freeze to the ground. My teacher ran and finished the Iditarod twice then sold his dogs...but he gave Moses to me. 🤗 Moses was only half Malamute so his size wasn't quite Leo's...but his head was enormous! He loved going on what we called walks...which were times he really just pulled me everywhere. Literally. Moses detested being stared at. His pen was outside my living room window so I'd sneak to the window while he sat looking out into the yonder with his back to me. It would only take a few seconds of focused staring before one ear would begin to twitch and rotate back. ....then the other. Then would come the shifting of front feet...then the butt. Finally, quick glance over his shoulder to very clearly tell me with his eyes he did NOT find the humor in my game. 🤨 He would try one last time to find his Zen....but if I continued to peer at him with more vigor....he would get up with a pronounced and audible HUFF ....and walk to the part of the yard I could not see him. It took until the next snowfall for me to realize Moses was a sled dog and none of us had asked him if he was ready to retire. I gave him to a friend I knew to be very attentive and caring to his team of dogs and Moses almost literally did backflips to be put back in harness! By that time we had more than a few sunset/sunrise beach or tundra walks with quiet times of just sitting and contemplating life under our belts. He was a great therapist with his wise eyes and sometimes cocking his head at some of my more difficult life issues. Moses was a great friend.

I thought I understood fur when I had a golden retriever... then I adopted a GSD/Malamute. My house is a perpetual snow globe of fur. I must say however, she is 7.5yrs old and has made zero attempts at digging holes, but she does often sleep curled in a donut with her tail over her nose and is very stubborn, lol.

I had a dog that looked just like this except he was black and beige. In the ad, he was described as a "German shepherd/collie mix". I feel like there's no way he wasn't a malamute or maybe a Finnish Lapphund. He was an amazing boy who, despite his striking good looks, hated any type of grooming and LOVED getting into loaves of bread and other baked goods. He sure loved us and we sure loved him.

we got a pit bull boxer mix puppy from a shelter but they said she was some other completely different breed. my mom ended up taking her to the vet for a check up and the vet was so startled to see a pit bull when she was told it wasnt a pit bull. best dog we ever had during the time the states were trying to kill them all for being "baby killers" cuz people were using them in dog fights. she kept her tail and ears and gaurded the house so well everyone knew not to try to break in without us in there including family. anyways cuz of the shelter obviously lying so they didnt have to put her down immediately we had paperwork that said she wasnt a pit bull so no landlord could kick us out for having her.

@@Kris-wo4pj Pitbulls rock. My family currently owns one and he is so sensitive and cuddly toward his humans and even fellow dogs. We lost our black lab mix last week and he's just as lost without him as we are. He just has such a big heart. The worst thing he does is bark a lot. It honestly frustrates me that even with as much as people try to lift the stigma against pitbulls, people choose to remain ignorant. When you are brought up in an environment where all you know is to defend yourself, of course you'll be aggressive but that's the fault of the owner and not the dog. Pitbulls are like any other dog where all they need is love and care.

I love potties but they were bred to fight - be it bulls, other dogs or wild pigs and have to be extremely tenacious and strong willed to do so
They are a working breed that need someone who will give them a job and structure who is experienced enough to train an intelligent strong willed terrier and strong enough physically to handle them should they develop reactivity
Pit aggression is generally towards dogs rather than people - Most of the time pits kill kids because with the jaw strength even a corrective bite is enough to kill a human baby, because people think they're nanny dogs and don't pay close attention to them with their child around, and because most people can't accurately read a dogs body language
Most people think so long as the tail is wagging the dog is happy and that is not the case
Pits in particular will often bite without a growl or snarl in warning - with many of them the only sign given is a slight stiffening in the body and a change in the eyes
How many pet owners do you know would notice that and act soon enough to prevent an incident?

My favorite dog breed. The shedding, crater making in the yard and the singing is awesome. I miss my Candy girl.

that entrance with the boot was so freaking cute! i love him. and glad the actual bite seemed to be a bit of a mistake on his part with him being so mouthy, and didn't do much/if any damage, glad you were able to get a laugh after his antics.

Such a sweet and handsome handful. His paws were as big as your hand and yet he was playfully gentle in his own way. I absolutely love this channel.
