I've ridden my Surly Pugs for over 40K km and never once did it leave me stranded, I've owned many bikes, but the Pugs is the most reliable bike i ever owned and certainly the most versatile and fun bike, it's still my daily driver and my beater bike.
@Maciej Jan Długosz They're great thus far, but i cannot ride bikes with aggressive geometry, the Pugs is perfect with it's slack geometry and wider crank which feels good for my knees.
How has the paint job held up over the years? I just picked up a pug and want to do a rebuild similar to yours. I’ve thought about powder coat, but it’s pretty expensive. I’d rather the budget go to upgrading derailleurs, cassette, drivetrain, etc.

Hi, paint has held up ok, letting the paint cure for a couple of weeks before build the bike up helps it last on 😁👍
Did you ever run rim brakes on yours? I just got a vintage tan pugs and will try canti’s.
